  1. What are they, 5mm ish? 3/16" dowl fit? or drill em slightly... get em nice n round n fresh... either metric or imperial for some 1/4" or 6mm wood dowl to plug... Cut, glue n sand... Then re-drill.
  2. I got some leather pics... nice tone on the acoustic with flats... I also have some wooden pics... Other than the above it's the JD Jazz III in nylon... a softer sound, not as harsh, scratchy or edgy as tortex...
  3. I like that... if that was a Jazz body that would be epic-on-the-eye... offset body with the slanty pups... rear rout too... my fav! Oh! and i likes a Strat Knob... thats got me thinking Cream Strat Knobs, or Jazz Knobs to match the Cream Split P Covers on my Bitsa Build... ebay here i come!
  4. Great news on the neck! What ya thinking about the body?... Natural Wood, Stain or a Solid Colour? For me, It's screaming BLACK to go with that Maple neck... or an Aubergine Purple off Black... You thinking Rattle Cans? That scratchplate? Is/was it white plastic? looks like it could be anodised metal, hard to tell from the pics... but i think that should also stay... so many P-a-likes have slightly different shapes or screw spacings... Keep the bridge, that way ya sure the mounting holes line up... but as mention you could change the sadles for threaded for a bit more of a vintage look, maybe have em off something like this for £15?... https://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/vintage-style-4-string-bass-bridge-with-spiral-saddles/ @KiOgon P bass loom - Quality Pots n Jack - is a good idea for £25ish - Got one for my Budget Bitsa P
  5. leave it... especialy the neck... it looks played..
  6. Watching with interest... also undertaking a Bitsa Build... albeit on more of a budget... Your bits look branded, mine more name-a-likes... Know what ya mean about cost, I could if got a Harley B or Squier Affinity for the money... and it isn't finished yet, and you prolly a new Squier CV. As for the picknguard? I dont do Tort,It looks to 'Busy' for my eyes, so I'd go Black... I won't have such a dilema as mine is a rear rout. Good luck with the build.
  7. It all arrived by post via the 'bay... String-Run looks alright-ish... although I might swap the string for elastic for a bit more twang...
  8. Machine Heads, String-a-like Strings, Sandberg-a-like String Tree and Fender-a-like Decal... Dimarzio-a-like Cream Pickup Covers and Gotoh-a-like Bridge... Sanding, oiling and/or waxing of the body and neck next... What ya think?.. Any comments, advice, guidance and pointers would be most welcome... I'm thinking of a Thumb Rest... Cream or Matching Wood?..
  9. Had one of the list (Steady!) of Spacecowboys odds n sods... Sent swiftly...
  10. It looks like the ground is reliant on the plate covering... and the hot to the jack tip i would suggest came from the middle (wiper) terminal of the nearest pot... (bottom of the orange capacitor)... could be wrong?... Is there any stub of wire left on the terminal, or any of the others. Prolly tightening the jack socket turned it and fractured the wire at the solder join...
  11. @TheGreek... Sorry! Please mention that i took the pic and posted on Basschat, it might earn me a drink!
  12. Nope... there was no price tag swinging on this one... it was in the covid decontamination rack... I was only in for a mooch after collecting a pickup from @Rumple in the area. Shop owner bloke was friendly and chatty, supposedly had some story in regard to ownership, passed on by the lead singer (not the bass player) of a 70s band possibly Free or some such bloke was saying... pickup has been replaced... told the bloke i was posting the pic on basschat, so he will know which bass.. the weird melty one!
  13. Neck join sorted thanks to a local cabinet maker... Looks good at the heel... I drilled the neck and screwed together... Fitted the 19mm spacing bridge to the marked holes... String run looks OK, E should be better under proper tension... Getting there... Machine heads next...
  14. Odd Yamaha spotted in Penge. https://www.twangguitars.co.uk Late 70's early 80's?
  15. Leather Picks... £1 each... took a while to arrive... nice on the accoustic... Midi Size. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FYC6JQ2/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apan_glt_fabc_65JD78MJ59GMK5NQ899X
  16. Bass Bits Arriving... Machine Heads String Tree Neck Plate Pickup @Rumple Loom @KiOgon Bridge Jackplate Knobs Strings Decal
  17. Or reserve the last few for a bit of Billy Sheehan style tapping...
  18. Like ya style... that looks like a 'forever' bass... and appears to already be wearing flats👍
  19. Have you got any metal machine washers? M3, M4... you could use a couple on the E bass side to get a good fit for the neck, and maybe one to aligning the neck edge with the G side... to sort the screw holes, then replace with veneer... i think there is a proper name for this more open side of the pocket...
