  1. With the emphasis on Budget for the build... Body... ended up with a dink corner on the pickup route, between the two split halves about the D string run... you can just see in the pic, but i didn't notice till it arrived, so got a bit of a discount as a 'seconds' body. Neck... one was on the bay with bids, rather than BIN, you can see a small slight knot on the back [Edit: Total Smooth]... So worked out about half price! Still waiting on delivery... Twas due Thurs-ish... Bloody Herpes! And waiting for all the Chinese Chrome... Gotoh-a-like 201B Bridge, Sandberg-a-like Angled 3 String Tree, Usual-look "Petal' Machineheads, -gonna give em a twist 'n go with coppa slip to try and smooth the mating surface 'tween cog 'n worm, then clean and dab with vaseline to hopefully get a smooth feel... Also Jackplate 'n Neckplate and Strap Buttons, along Split P pickup with a plain flat, sealed-look cover to arrive... Stands me in about £150ish... So Squier Monies when done... hopefully it plays 'n sounds as good... otherwise i should of just bought a Harley B, Std Black or the 51 and tele'd the head.
  2. Thats An idea... not really got anything to suit... and prolly end up making it look worse, not so bad if painting the body. shame they didnt find the missing bit, or notice before shipping. Waiting for a neck to arrive another idea would be getting a bit of veneer in light rosewood... easier to cut than plastic... got a feeling i'll just leave it...
  3. just @ then start typing the name (no space after the @ and a menu starts pulling up names... there is also a 'feedback for KiOgon' and most others to add some blah blah... I had to ar$e about counter boreing the cavity with a 20mm then a 32mm, to clear the tags, 5mm deep for the length of the pot shafts - body issue, not KiOgon's Loom...
  4. I think that may of been me... sorry about that... although, It's turned out rather stunning and very understated, and those black strings set it off nicely. I'm currently undertaking my first P Bitsa Build...
  5. Very Nice... Strange that those knobs are also on the Premium and Prestige SR models...
  6. bay - Pair of CLOSED PICKUP COVERS in BLACK, CREAM or WHITE to fit USA P Bass guitar - and drill ya own holes?
  7. Anyone do 3D printing or know their onions? So my Rear Rour P Bass Body Arrived... but with a 'knock' on the corner of the Split P Cavity. I took the offer of a tenner discount, as i'ts a budget and first build... anything to keep the cost down... and a likelyhood of making a mistake or two along the way... But perhaps i'd of been better off sening it back for a repacement... Oh well! Searching the net for some sort of surround or bezzel to cover the gap... Found this pic - custom made in metal from 'frets on the net', US and Big $ - looks nice though... Next up is this from Allparts but £30 plus p+p... Nice, practical... Ideally without the mounting holes. Found this, looks like ya BWB 3 ply, but Jazz Only... without mounting holes would look better. I message our favourite custom pickguard guy 'earlpilaz' following the love for his Harley B scratchplates... but gonna be £25ish due to the work involved. Anyone 3D printing that has any ideas... Black, 5mm wide surround bezzel to cover, Thin profile-wise 2mm? preferably without mounting holes... More like the ones round the ears of the EMGs, but if it needs be squarer like the allparts one for substance and ease of making. I also found this £25ish... 'prolly 'good for metal' but a NO from me... I'd rather the gap! Any help would be most welcome, otherwise it will have to stay as is, edge painted in screening paint, and just hope it's not to visable when the pickup is fitted. Sticky Back Jazz ones could be a 'thing' for PJ's...
  8. plus not visable on a mobile...
  9. Had a @KiOgon P Bass loom for my bitsa... quick, neat and tidy job...
  10. ^ was the BLS115 1x15" @ £60 any good for ya needs, following ya bass cab post?
  11. Sounds like a great project, if its just the pots, worthy of a £20 odd Kiogon PBass Loom, fret n fretboard clean, strings Winner!...
  12. looking good and using good are sometimes a little different, No Dots can look great, but dots can be handy (see what i did there!) perhaps rosewood dots on mapel, to match the skunk stripe n truss plug would look nice rather than black, and maybe or mahogany or ash on rosewood... dont really like pearl or abalone of fuss, although the little snow flakes on the Harley B Acoustic look nice, but you can see the wood grain underneath so i think they are paint... so may think about taking the 3 of them off above the 12th...
  13. ^ You can get a fret foil - credit card with a slot in... or cut an old reward / loyalty card in half and tape together a fret width apart! 😉 But i tend to masking tape the whole fretboard, (hint... run a length down each edge of the neck, then go across the fretboard on to these runs... whole lot easier when it comes to removing... pull of two strips and all the across strips come off!) Then Duraglit wadding or 0000 wire wool the frets... as mentioned mask the pickup magnets... If realy tarnished i apply a thin smear wipe of Autosol chrome cleaner (halfords) this dry's blackened... them 'mop off" with a dremel, or buff of with a micro fiber... honestly, old socks! great as you can get ya hand in... Then remove the tape then lemon oil if rose wood. So Ibanez are like sheep? not Ibanezes or Ibanezez or Ibani...
  14. @SpondonBassed Reminds me of the plug on the back of Hawkwind PXR5... Neverheard of Visitor 25... but gonna check em out - there was a thread a while back about albums purchased on the strength of the cover... Nowamowa was mine... but i'd of bought the above.
  15. Oh... and one of these for the headstock... 😉
  16. ...and just 'won' a Jazz Bass 38mm nut, 20 fret, slim maple neck with a flattish radius fretboard in light Vietnamese Rosewood, (make a nice change from the usual darker rosewood, and pair nicely with a light coloured natural body...) Gonna get Lemon Oil on the fretboard and Danish Oil on neck n head... Fingers crossed they are a nice fit at the neck heel...
  17. Prefer plain... Don't mind Dots, or small equivalent... Don't really like blocks, but Fancy isn't me.
  18. Couple of pics of my P Bass Body from Ricky @ Luthiers Warehouse... Emailed to discus what i was after and ordered on Thursday... should get sent out Today!
  19. Wiring harness... @KiOgon is ya man on here... I have just ordered one for a P Build... Recommend ya drop him a line...Lots of happy Basschaters have his looms... Pickup... The 'bay shows a '1PC Bass Guitar Pickup for Bass Guitar Replacement Accessory Parts'... anything like the dimensions?.. could get ya going for a tenner!.. Or maybe squeeze something 'MusicMan-esq' in if the rout under the plate allows...
  20. Nice... and i hope ya back is on the mend... Kmise neck? What are they like? Was looking at them, a jazz 38mm for my P Build, but they are 21 fret on an overhang, and still look a little longer than a 20 to the heel. Can you get a Fender P / J headstock out of the original shape, or just a tele?
  21. ^ but might end up down the gold hardware route, which clashes with the frets n strings.
  22. pm sent... bay link content Budget Gotoh-a-like...
