Just been in to my Yongest's Son's (13) bedroom, it's the smallest bed room... to open the window while he is out - he doesn't like the window open becouse of the bugs! Used to smell of new carpet, now it just smells... with overtones of Rightguard if ya lucky... vinegar sweat from the school sports socks if ya not!.. Wonder if he wants to try my spare bass?

Kolin and Morphine...Codine Linctus... Guiness and Cider... those were the days i can hardly remember...

Lots of 'Basschat Love' for 'earlpilanz' over on the bay-of-dreams... From previouse threads he has done a few custom plates, particularly for non standard P's ala Harley Benton, by return of post using your original as a template, he then adds the new shape to his list for the furure... Also deals direct, worth mentioning Basschat. I find tort to busy... I am colourblind, so probably don't see the complex of colours the same as others. Real nice colour and patern on that body... Brown Pearl or Anodised Brush Gold? I would go for something plain and subtle to complement, and not to detract... Single Ply Cream would be my choice... But I'd be on to em to radius, bevel the top edge...rather than leaving it square (cept the neck pocket) Depends on what's your playing vibe...

Wow!... Wood grain looks stunning! what a transformation! I'll be watching with interest. Just about to start a P Bass build. I'm gonna go Danish oil... Chrome won the hardware toss... P Bass Scratchplate - Template Help

No one?.. Or a link to a full size teplate on A4? Don't want to be buying a scratch plate just to mark for 2 holes... -
Yep 15uf.. but dunno about Butch, David, Jack or any of the Casady's

How do... Anyone with a normal P Bass Scratch plate sitting about. I'm after a bit of a template to locate the V and T pot holes... So need full size on A4, an out line from back of neck pocket and pickup hole to locate template properly, then V and T holes... thats it, dont need front horns, or right to the back / bottom Can anyone draw, scan, maybe pdf and or just post image? On line pics i have found are scaled down to fit the whole plate on a A4 page... or for 8.5 x 11. Ta...

After enjoying a bit of faffing with the Harley B Acoustic that came out nice, gonna go up a level. Budget P Build... so searching the 'bay of eastern dreams' - P'Bay... machine heads, string tree, neck plate, bridge, strap buttons, jack knobs all in the basket and through the check out, strings are gonna be Adagio Flats again, I've PM'd @KiOgon about pots n wire... and even sorted a decal... Got to finalise the body details, and choose a cheapish neck... Style will be simple... Finish is gonna be plain Danish... Chrome won the Hardware coin toss over Black... Oh lord what have i done... gonna be back here for advice, but promise to use the search first... Gonna Stand me in more than a Harley B, but will be what i want and some fun, and hopefully not to much pain and frustration to do... Wish me luck...

NABD - New Acoustic Bass Day - Harley Benton HBO850

Obviously gonna be Headstock Heavy, so Neck Dive, but thats largely overcome by the simple action of having ya right arm resting over it... and a little slippy on the knee, might hunt out a bit of grip tape, will only need a couple of inchz or so in the curve... quite shallow at about 110mm at the deepest point... and comfy slouched on the sofa! Although i'm now thinking of patenting an inverse bowl back design - bowl forward back, bowl back forward... you get the idea... gonna call it a 'Beer-Belly-Bass'... With no pickup, I'm a bit 'thumb on the end of the fret board', might go small stick on thumb rest while i try n master this floating thumb thing... which feels weired as i put fender style thumb rests on the 2 Ibby GSR200's and the SR600 has a flat top pickup. -
@danny-79 Got some Dunlop 'Lemmy' 50-105, Stainless Steels - Had em up in the FS some time ago, No Box, but little used on a Ibby GSR200... Cut 2/2, so no good for a Fender 4 in line etc. but will post out @ Β£15 if they might get you out of trouble till ya Elixir are back in stock?

From my recent experiance with my Harley Benton Acoustic Bass... and ya happy to do a bit of fettling... Go Harley Benton for half ya budget! Quite a few yo choose from P's PJ's J's... plus other model bassed shapes. Just remember reading some of the Delux range may be a little heavy, or that may just be some older models... They do have some more expensive models, have you seen the Β£250ish Marquess https://harleybenton.com/product/marquess-4-black-stain/

NABD - New Acoustic Bass Day - Harley Benton HBO850

So, after sorting the nut slots yesterday... I slackened off the strings and took out the bridge blade, and there was a shim between the bridge body and the piezo bar. It was lightly glued in so hooked that out with a pin and pair of tweezers, shim measured 1.6mm. Bridge blade back in, a better fit with no 'bridge roll' due to the increase in fitting depth... and a lower action by about 1mm at the 12th fret... E now 3mm and G now 2.5mm... Just about bloody spot on! Get a slight buzz when 'plucked hard' (Don't we all! π)... Intonation is also now just about spot-on... shows a couple of cent sharp on the tuner, but less than with the shim in. Real happy with the Bass and the outcome of the tweaks... Yet to try it 'plugged-in'... but i don't think it will be 'Any Good For Metal'... -
You been listening to my playing? I resemble that comment!..
