  1. On the Master Tone... not a lot as you are only using 2 of the connections... As shown you are feeding one end of the track and reducing the amount of resistance to zero / ground with the wiper... If connected as you describe, you are simply feeding the wiper... (and If you fed the other end - free terminal the tone effect would work the other way as you turn...) Import wiring is at the Vol, all terminals are used... one in, one out (the wiper) and one ground... so the wiper out is the difference between top and bottom... swap top n bottom and ya Vol will work backwards - or forwards for a left handed bass!... Tone is an 'amount of resistance' between 2 connections - Vol is the 'difference in resistance' between one end to the other - 3 connections... Anyone got a P schematic diag rather than a wiring position diag?
  2. Similar meltdown when my Sons Star Wars Lego Set failed to arrive when expected... 'Kin annoying... and i feel your pain... IT SAID (expected...) BEFORE 9!- Bastards!
  3. 2 each side... one on the end (two on the end for a six, but then thats a guitar not a bass) straight down the middle... so they all line up with a straight string run over the nut... I'm an engineer so i am right... who said you need five strings anyhows? ya only got 4 fingers, if ya got more, p!ay the Banjo... and the thumb is to stop ya hand falling of the end of the neck in the dark...
  4. but unlikely to get the 'forgot mine, can i borrow ya bass?' ;-)
  5. tort plate on anything other than a Jazz... dodgy headstock shapes like a plain fretboard and like the no scratchplate look...
  6. I got some dunlop stainless 50/70/85/105 to replac the Ibanez original 45/65/85/105... the wrap is a lot thinner than that of the Rotosounds RB45 and what ever ibanez fit as std - feel way smoother... not sure if this is a stainless thing, but more likely a dunlop thing... A lot of string sets now come sealed, so hard to see or check, maybe can look at an 'individual' string in store, or take a punt on dunlop?
  7. Nice.. could maybe do with some observation notes... Got some Dunlop Stainless Steel Strings, I notice the outer windings are a fair bit thinner than say the Rotosound Nickels on a 105 E. The thinner windings of the dunlops feel a lot smoother to play... How do the windings of the Ernie Balls compare? Would you know if this is a Dunlop v Rotosound thing? or a Stainless v Nickel thing? Thanks...
  8. Fun... recognise the IKEA puppets...
  9. Nice, but... Why a tort guard... single ply plain black needed... failing that bwb or wbw...
  10. Pickguard in the same material as the markers?
  11. Anyone on BC? https://www.guitarworld.com/amp/features/meet-the-owner-of-the-worlds-biggest-12-string-bass-collection LOTS of strings...
  12. this thread got me picking out a bit from my whitesnake box set... some nice burpin' on the Child of Babylon... But Walkin in the shadow of the blues is a fav...
  13. Then manufacturers come up with core to wrap low tension, without giving you a number and statments such as tonaly balanced... If only all manuf quoted the tension per gauge n variety of string... Like calouries and fat on a biscuit... thats it time for a coffee 'n a orange club... (and i dont mean an early p bass neck in roasted mapel)
  14. Picked up a Cruiser by Crafter P-a-like from gumtree... Nice take on the P body with a slight jazz-esq bottom bought... A Solid and Heavy bass! This a more modern shape. great project if ya already had 2x J pups kicking about... 4 pots are £20ish... http://craftereurope.com/prodinfo9771766/GLWS.
  15. Nice take with the white pickup cover... As for the neck join? don't they check over when finished? - poor show... fret buzz may be more truss rod n transit issue, but still... still not a tort fan but thats percy taste... Saw Black Sabbath Paranoid Classic Albums the other night, Geezer had a pair of Lakelands, Laklandie, Laklandies... well, 2 Nice basses... Enjoy!
  16. nice... simple and elegant... White pickup covers need to go... they scream!
  17. Big Hawkwind fan... up to Black Sword '85ish - Then i went a bit... mmm American Hawkwind? - Monster Magnet...
  18. headstock - No... What were they thinking / drinking... Surely needs to be a 2 a side, (or a 3 n 1 if ya want to get arty...) plus a bit of scroll of curl, i'd go for a simple mirror the bottom bought?
  19. For those interested and missed it... https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/435220-isolated-bass-geddy-lee-tom-sawyer/ Mind ya ears... it comes in late n loud! And for those with Prime, 'Classic Albums... 2112 (& Moving Pictures...) some interesting insight and blah blah...
