  1. How about taping the tip of your backup pick to the upper horn of your bass with a small strip of masking tape?
  2. Black - Okkervil River
  3. Yet that is kind of exactly what they did.
  4. I think John had a terrible handwriting, looks like it says "new + Men". Just how would we know that weren't in fact the intended title of the song? Makes you wonder if it even actually said "to Paul". As such I can't take this serious.
  5. Given the choice to worry either about tone transfer or climate change, tone transfer certainly would be to prefer. Seems like you chose to chose worrying about me choosing to worry about credit card shims, over say war and hunger. And can't say I blame you, the alternative is simply too depressing. Cause we all know you can only worry about one thing, so chose wisely. That would be my advice.
  6. Yes, seems like what it mainly does is making the string angle over the saddles too sharp, making it prone to ruin the strings, and certainly if it happens to be flatwounds (now string through does certainly deal with the bend angle of the strings being too flat over the saddles, which otherwise can lead to various issues, which is why, I guess, some people seem to think it improves sustain and tone, but a little too extremely as far as I am concerned).
  7. Dancing With Myself - Billy Idol
  8. That does look amazing. Not sure if 2K worth amazing though, and pretty sure it could be done considerably cheaper with a regular Squier/Fender and a little leg work, or even doing it yourself if you possess that kind of skills and patience.
  9. Seems bias confirmation is the issue from what you write. Pretty upstream to beat that one.
  10. Sunday Morning - Velvet Underground
  11. The Dreamer Is Still Asleep - Coil
  12. I don't doubt that you could have done a much better job than Peter Jackson & Co. and Lennon/McCartney & Co., but I don't think it's bad as it is. And I am pretty sure they were thinking a humorous goodbye and thank you, sprinkled with equal measures sentimental nostalgia. I understand why some would find it too sentimental or too silly though, but while while definitely fully intentionally being both silly and sentimental, and arguably not exactly being genius, I think it actually does work for what it is. It could have been worse, they could have used clips from "Meet the Feebles" and "Bad Taste".
  13. Well, in this case there is a very good reason for it. Also I don't recall that Beatles song. Did Ringo Star write that one?
  14. I quite like it. I mean it is not exactly a master piece or among the best Beatles songs ever, but very far from among their worst either. Better than the 2 other posthumous John Lennon Beatles songs from the mid 90's for sure, and all in all a really nice song. From the receptions it gets in this thread it very much sounds to me like some people are listening to this through a filter of preconceptions. Also funny George Harrison called it pure crap, cause to me it actually sounds more like a George Harrison song than a John Lennon song.
  15. I agree with the above post. Don't pull the strings, stroke them with the outmost tip of your fingers/nails, in a slightly inwards slapping, but relaxed, non forceful, motion, rather than striking or pulling them. That, or if you insist using such aggressive plucking technique, which will give you a less complex but actually also less aggressive tone, you need to raise the action considerably, and possibly use thicker higher tension strings as well.
  16. Run Like Hell - Pink Floyd
  17. I Lost Something In The Hills - Sibylle Baier
  18. I would personally go for EHX : Bass Soul Food (Klon clone with clean blend) for low gain always on overdrive grid Hot Wax (Hot Tubes + Crayon dual overdrive with clean blend, the Crayon being an alternate take on the Xotic BB Preamp circuit) or Operation Overlord Nano (pretty amazing original circuit with a lot of control options, including a Treble, Mids, Bass EQ section and clean blend) for low to high gain overdrive Metal Muff Nano (metal type original distortion that sounds pretty awesome on bass, this is the only one of the mentioned that doesn't have clean blend) or Hell Melter (Boss HM-2 clone with clean blend) for high gain distortion Or MXR M85 Bass Distortion (RAT clone with clean blend and Turbo RAT mode) for pretty much everything
  19. That does look amazing! Also matte black is one of my absolute favorite finish options. Love it!
  20. Don't know about the Ampeg, but I can warmly recommend the Valeton Aquaflow Vintage Chorus. It's out of production, but was a budget pedal, so might be able to find it cheap used. Sounds amazing. A Boss CE-1 clone, just with more controls, and in a mini pedal housing. Not too many of those around, and to my knowledge the only one in the budget price range.
  21. Yeah, I apologize for trying to help, won't happen again I promise. I am just not sure his experience with filters is much worth when it comes to filter models he haven't actually any experience with, and even then regardless it would still just be an opinion. As both he and I agreed on: "I would think a lot of it is down to personal preferences" And as I said: "Up to you of course" Or as he said himself: "If you'd like to trust the opinions of others without trying it yourself, that's your call"
