  1. You could also just remind the audience what the name of the band they are listening to is in between every song. Or get a stamp with the band name and then stamp the audience. That way they'll remember even the day after.
  2. Older - They Might Be Giants
  3. Taking Pictures - Janosch (I play lead guitar and sing backing vocals on this track, and I also shot the photo used for the cover)
  4. Sebadoh - "Vampire" from "Rocking The Forrest"/"Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock"
  5. Most stupid thing I ever did was selling my Jerry Jones Neptune Longhorn Bass, which is kind of a boutique, high end, version of the Danelectro one, and not in production anymore, as the guy who made them retired, and rare to find used (if I even had that kind of money as I did then), such an amazing bass, greatest bass I ever had in my hands, sounded and felt awesome. That, and being stupid enough to sell my Ampeg B-15S (the 60W 1968 version), are my biggest regrets. I do however also really regret selling the 28 5/8" 4 string bass I had made out of Warmoth baritone parts, with an awesome sounding humbucker Seymour Duncan Rickenbacker Bass Neck pickup in neck position, and a humbucker Seymour Duncan Strat guitar Hot Rails pickup in the bridge position. Unfortunately I don't even got any pictures of my Jerry Jones bass and the Ampeg B-15, but I do have picture of the sub-short scale Warmoth bass (I designed the headstock myself, and might admittedly have gone a bit too far )
  6. Danelectro Longhorn Bass!
  7. Kathleen - Townes Van Zandt Here covered by Tindersticks :
  8. Black Antlers (Where's your Child?) - Coil
  9. What? Some strange kind of bass that can only be tuned one way? Curious... My apologies for having wasted your time on my behalf inciting you to write that snide remark. But there is a reason why the bass player from Meshuga plays the same octave as the 8 string guitars.
  10. Love Is... - Dinosaur Jr.
  11. Looks interesting. And yes, reverb stacked into a high gain distortion or fuzz makes a for a monstrous deep wall of sound, especially with chords, but I suppose very rarely of any use in classic pop and rock. Also reverb (or a short delay low in the mix) is a very good idea for clean bass solos or melodic solo work, especially on fretless bass.
  12. As in F#0, 5 half steps bellow regular 5 string bass B0, or F#1, as in 2 half steps above regular 4 string bass E1? If it is the latter early The Smiths and late Meshuga (Edit: Forgot Meshuga tunes their 8 string guitars one half step bellow regular tuning, so that would actually be F (and yes, the bass player plays same octave as the guitars)).
  13. Can you do colored knobs as well? Like red and green?
  14. Touch Me I'm Sick - Mudhoney
  15. Sounds like you lead guitarist is genuinely oblivious that he did anything wrong, to be honest. Maybe have a friendly but serious talk with him about what the f*** is going on and how this works. Though chances are probably high that he still won't understand what he possibly did wrong.
  16. Well, I don't have that problem with my 5 string Mikro Bass, since I tune in in G standard tuning, that is 3 half steps above the upper 5 strings of a 6 string bass tune to regular B standard tuning, and use guitar strings. Elixir Nanoweb guitar strings have just about the perfect length for these basses. I realize that doesn't help much though if you are tuning to regular bass tunings.
  17. That's a quote from the OP, as in original post.
  18. How about reading the actual OP again:
  19. Funny, I could ask you the very same question. Keeping referring to how he only got 3 effect per patch, when he actually got 6, and that his effects are crap, doesn't help for sure. At least I paged a couple of people who I was pretty sure could actually help OP.
  20. Well, we were talking about wood properties and the nature of resonance in specific here. That however does very much relate to the general debate in this thread, and indirectly to basses and guitars in general as well. But if you are looking for a simple answer I guess that sums up to a: Yes!
  21. Density affects resonance, yes. It is however not the only determining factor for resonance, not least stiffness is very important, but there are others as well, such as texture/structure.
  22. I was referring to the physical phenomena of resonance, which I think should be clear in the context it was written: Also I am not really discussing Roger Sadowsky's beliefs here (honestly I couldn't care less about what he believes or not), whatever they might be, but the concept of "tonewood", from the perspective of using actual facts.
