1. I put together a little circuit last night that lights red when the battery falls below a set level - it has a mini trim pot so you can set the trigger voltage where you wish. I just want to take this one stage further to have a bicolour LED that stays green when the battery is above 7.5V, then goes red when below 7.5 to show the battery is running out. The 7.5 is my arbitrary level, you can set this at whatever is appropriate - just wait till your preamp sounds like its starting to break up, then check the voltage and set the circuit accordingly. One single bicolour LEd would be very unobtrusive on a bass body, and the current drain should be minimal. All I have to do now is figure out how to do it. Zener diode route is another (passive) option, but not fully figured that one yet.

don't forget to check out GLX pedals as well, they are budget versions of some of the boss units but in sturdy metal housings, they look and feel very well built, the couple I've played with sounded good as well - I have the bass eq pedal, good price compared to the Boss ones, and the rumours are that they are made in the same Chinese factory as the Boss pedals.
4. not so much an effect but a request for help - I want a small circuit i can put inside my gecko bass which checks battery voltage (9v pp3 drives the SD Basslines pickups) I have a small red LED which lights when the jack plug is inserted, its a sort of reminder to tell me its still drawing current. I want the circuit to kick in when the battery voltage falls below about 7.5v, so the LED doesn't light up any more. This will indicate to me when the battery needs changing. Any ideas?
5. err, sure, why not you buy the new black one then we exchange them in the post?
6. if i can't get a proper chrome one then I think it will have to be black, it will match my Geddy jazz then, thats already had the black scratch makeover.
7. does anyone have a mirror acrylic one?
8. was just thinking how great the chrome control plate looked...
9. Good try but nowhere near shiny enough. I need the shiny things.
10. First Bass Owned: Maison Bass collection copy, active 4 string 'Go To' Bass: EBMM Stingray, 4 string, 3-band eq with piezo 'Your' Bass: Warmoth Gecko 5-string walnut/alder, custom build, Basslines active pickups and standard JB wiring
11. you know, chrome calls me, aurora projects (crazy LED neck boys) do some ..... [edit] ok they don't, they do polished aluminium which tarnishes quickly, or mirror acrylic
12. My Stingray really needs a little facelift. Its been stuck with the cream pearlescent one since I bought it bu now calling for a new pick guard but can't decide which way to go. I can't find a metal chrome one to match my black tele, the nearest is a clear mirror plate which would look cool against the black fleck, or do i just go for classic black? [note: this pic is not my 'Ray, it's another black fleck one found on google images, mine's a maple neck and 3-band eq plus piezo but the body and scratch plate are same]
13. i think thats a cool-looking bass, just wish fender would push something out a bit new, not recycled reworked reinventing the wheel stuff.
14. Accessible truss rod nut, like the Stingray. So very easy to tweak if needed. Adjustanut from Warwick and decent adjustable bridge to get action good as possible at both ends of the neck. Mix of P and J pickups that can be run passive and active. 2 strap buttons as standard on the base of the bass so it doesn't fall over when you stand it up.
15. I'd be tempted to sell it as parts, you may get more money that way.
16. oww, we could have had a field day with this.....
17. I like the look of the tele headshtock on a bass, the pickups look all out of proportion though. The jag body looks too bloated, the dimensions ofend me and there's nowhere near enough fiddly slider switches for a jag, but I love the neck and block inlays. "Modern Player" ? The name is truly knobby
18. geez thats a shocking action, prob fixed with a neck pocket shim, guess he shouldn't have left it lying round so long on damp grass.
19. something really simple like a bit of paper or tiny blob of blu-tac inside to make it push-fit tight again is sometimes all that is needed.
20. +1 for both the above - used in the past for fingerboards and flame maple laminate. David Dyke is a very helpful guy, worth a phone call.
21. Thats just an oil finish. Sand down then wipe on lots of very thin coats of tru-oil, you can use a scotchbrite pad to work it in so the wood is all sealed and you get that lovely natural soft lustre. You can also use Danish or teak oil. It needs a good coat of beeswax every year to top up. Just like a Warwick.
22. What's the finish?
23. Anyone here know where to go for advice on getting a friends guitar with a fernandez sustainer fitted? Huddersfield/Leeds/Manchester area?
24. 1) ebay for replacement neck or s/hand 460 purchase for spares 2) check out pocket dimensions to see if a fender replacement neck could be made to fit - whats the pocket dimensions, depth, scale size, fret numbers? 3) Mend the crack in the head and continue to enjoy the bass 4) Phone Yamaha UK distributors for info on getting a replacement neck purchased
