Good stuff, looks like I can order everything I need from just 1 site then. Do I want to make the 10nF's multi's then as well? Would this be better/make any kind of difference?
You won't notice any difference. Just don't get Tantalum caps, which are also polar - like electrolytic they have to be the 'right way round' and they are fragile and can blow easily if wrong, the Tantalums look like normal small value caps though, rather than the marked metal cylinders of the electrolytic caps

Llama update - used for the first time at a local pub gig tonight, used pretty sparingly on a coupe of heavy punk/metal songs but it adds a huge bottom end growl to the bass lines, really pleased, fuzz setting's on about 4 out of 10, Lots of sharp treble to cut through but a full bass tone as well for a solid foundation. Great stuff! :brow:

I think we've been out-whammied. -
Nice - I'm looking for a reasonable priced (read cheap) flanger for a couple of songs we cover, is the Behringer worth a punt? Whats the setup withyour A/B box and looper?

It's a valid point and i guess I agree to some extent, but even thru a cheap amp you should be able to tell a better quality tone of a well-built quality instrument from a poor ply chinese copy. It really depends what the personal benchmark is that you are comparing against, then it less depends on playing style, but of course the over-riding thing is personal tastes as well as expectations. When I was 14 and went into a guitar shop to have a strum on a real Strat for the first time I was disappointed as I expected to be able to play and sound like Ritchie Blackmore. What a letdown! Never got on with strats from that point!

i'd still have to have ordered a female dc jack socket and a battery clip!

To be honest, people who do nothing but whine about other people whinging (whatever the spelling) shoould have a big H for hippocrite brazed to their spotty backsides with a very hot branding iron. Or am i over-reacting? Hety it's the weekend - lighten up, have a beer.

I recently bought a daisy chain dc power from them, thought prices were fine, but even though I looked on their site I did not come across the PP3 battery adapters. Now obbm has been a great chap and posted me out a couple, for which i am very grateful

Big plus 1 for Axes R us, very prompt and helpful. I buy very little from Allparts or WD these days due to inflated prices.

Isn't that one of the common criticisms of P's and J's, that due to the lack of pressure on the A-string going over the nut, that the A sometimes rattled or lost definition? I always try to wind on a bit more on the A, and force the windings downward so the final wrap sits at the bottom, next to the headstock, so the break-angle can be maximised. Some of those fluted or conical machine head winders might be useful there to help keep the string windings nestled at the base of the shaft.

These links should get u started on the right track, don't think you will achieve your goal with much sucecss using a passive only system, it's going to need some sort of buffer and /or signal boost to help preserve tone at lower levels. Best place I know for wide choice of knobs is Banzai: http://www.banzaieffects.com/Knobs-c-322.html

thanks for the link but diago really irritate me with their ridiculously over-inflated prices for stuff, really it is taking the mick, charging £6 for a bit of wire and a battery clip, and the pedal boards at extortionate prices are a rip off, sorry already ranted on another post about this, I would go to great lengths to never have to buy anyting from diago. They need a big reality check.

interesting sounds , I guess a bit synthy and bassballsy with some fuzz thrown in. Its a pretty simple circuit but I have to try harder to resist the urge to buy another set of metal enclosures from maplins. My music room is starting to spill over with home build boxes.
I used to do those. I might have one somewhere which you can have. I'll have a look tomorrow.
Thats very kind of you, many thanks! Preferably looking for a female end if possible but if you only have a male I'll be happy to reimburse you.

I'm looking for a couple of these, drew a blank on ebay and Maplins don't have them: To power a vintage pedal from 9v dc mains adapter without having to fit a jack socket. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

After a couple of modifications, here's the pedalboard project in final stages. Upper shelf is slotted for cable access, raised to allow pedal stomping without snagging the lower row, fitted with velcro for easy removal/access. Cables for 2 guitar inputs plus one output are wired in place, ready for the pedal chain. Small red LED power light wired into mains socket. Finished pedal board, powered up with 9v daisy chain. includes A/B + X/Y bypass box to allow 2 guitar input to be routed to tuner or into pedal chain. Simple foot switch bypasses amp between songs to allow for silent retune. features a couple of home build pedals - red llama fuzz/overdrive modified for bass frequencies, and a classic dyna comp compresser/sustainer built from scratch including hand-etched pcb. Bassballs pedal has been attacked over the weekend with hammer, vice and hacksaw to remove the cheese wedge shape and slim it down so the pedal + cabe access is in line with the others on the board. Also replaced silly EH DC input plug with a conventional 9V dc power jack socket.

I did a PCB for a forum member based on the Bronx Cheer. Layout from General Guitar Gadgets: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/index....&Itemid=108 Wondering if anyone here had experience of using this effect - synth-like env-distortion sounds quite cool as opposed to daft wah-like farty raspberry. Is it worth a build, as I have all the comps necessary, or is it actually a bit silly?
PLay with the above for a good log while!
This represents the approximate time taken to have a really good poo

Bassballs + compressor - does nobody have experience or opinion of these 2 used together?

That'a a Dan Erlwine special (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guitar-Player-Repair-Guide-Electrics/dp/0879302917/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1251887646&sr=1-3 )essential book for anyone interrested in set up and maintainence of their own instrument.

Yep - simply a small folded piece of silver foil carefully inserted between string and nut can give that extra few tenths of a mm height gain to stop fret buzzing. Being particularly lazy with one of my basses, this temporary measure seems to have happily lasted 2 years now.
