After slapping what about tapping?
Bill Wy,Aye,Man replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
I'm not even a fan of tapping on the guitar, it's a shortcut to real guitar playing, like power chords, so on the bass it has even less appeal for me -

I wasnt watching Claptout, I was watching the Bassists. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit by the way -
Make Your Own Electric Guitar by Melvin Hiscock (made up name) is my Bible. A course would be great if you were thinking of making a living out of it, but personally I'd get a good book and start building using cheap timber to start with, I made a jig that I use for fingerboard profiling and fret slot cutting, it was done on the cheap but works well. You can start of with plywood for bodies to get used to using a router and jigs for neck sockets, pup cut outs, control cavities etc then move on to decent timbers as you gain confidence. My next build is going to be a 64 P Bass, veneered board, vintage truss rod with body end adjustment, clay dots, etc

I think Triggerfinger's definition of 'Man Down' is different to Rihanna's -

A Joiner I know has a 13" planer/thicknesser, I keep hinting at him to leave me it in his will, although he does lend me it when required -

Sure is, like I said it was an exercise to identify the pitfalls involved, the timber was free and the truss rod, rosewood fingerboard and fret wire came to about 30 quid -
Completed: a body for a fretless Status neck
Bill Wy,Aye,Man replied to HazBeen's topic in Build Diaries
Heres one I made from scratch, done as an exercise to identify the pitfalls, also done with basic hand tools, barring a router and an English pull saw for the fret slots -
I built this body and fitted an aftermarket neck, the four piece, single saddle bridge I bought was really poor quality and I'm now on the lookout for something more up market. I've also built a body and neck from scratch but I need to get some photos to upload

Eric Clapton film - BBC 2 Saturday 6th June 2020
Bill Wy,Aye,Man replied to casapete's topic in General Discussion
I watched it last night, Saturday the 6th, really enjoyed it. What I came away with, and relative to this site, is that John McVie played more interesting basslines with John Mayall than any of his later stuff -
Squier running out of ideas and this is the best they could come up with, shame

Muddy Waters, "You Need Love" was covered twice, first by The Small Faces as "You Need Lovin", then by Zep as "Whole Lotta Love", The Small Faces being the best version for me, Marriott was obviously a big influence on Plant. Check all three out -
Thanks, by the way, is the heart the 'Like' button?
