  1. I love the pickup arrangement with the reverse p on one soap bar. I was looking at a Dub King when I ended up with an Ibanez AFB 200. I wanted the woof of a flat-wound short-scale, and the AFB200 seemed to max out the hollow-body volume. I usually use it with a Roland cube amp around a campfire when playing with other acoustic instruments. Has a bit of a standup sound. Still wonder, though, if the Dub King would have been a better instrument.
  2. I can't say I've seen a bass with an oak body. This has a very solid look to it.
  3. Very cool. It looks like they thought through the ergonomics. Does it balance nicely in a sitting position?
  4. Nice discussion here with John Taylor and Sheldon Dingwall about making this bass: youtube.com/watch?v=Q1gZRka5KKk It includes a few technical and historic points of interest beyond the one model.
  5. This is a fantastic price for a gorgeous ACG. I have an ACG Recurve with a 33" scale and it plays like a dream.
  6. Last week I bought a bass from Chris. The bass (a Warwick Corvette) is a wonderful instrument and I give him credit for describing it accurately without resorting to all the superlatives that could certainly apply. The price was reasonable. He communicated clearly and was easy to work with, and he shipped the bass quickly despite international complications. The bass was expertly packed and he included some extras after the deal was struck. I'm very happy with the process and love the bass.
  7. Would you consider shipping it to the US and charging for your time to do it?
  8. Can you tell me a bit more about this Alembic? Any damage? Condition of the pickups, pots and electronics? Scale length? Year built? Thanks. It's a beauty.
  9. I recently found a stunning ACG bass on Basschat. I read some reviews of ACG, watched a really interesting video of their shop (see below). I also read comments about the seller, Bernard Hewitt. Bernard had many favorable comments, so I decided to take the plunge and buy the bass. Bernard was helpful in every way, sending details and excellent photographs of the bass, and describing the process of shipping from the UK to California. The transaction was straight forward thanks to Bernard's help and familiarity with fund transfers, etc. When it came time to ship, Bernard arranged the whole process, set up the pick up, expertly packaged the bass and made everything go smoothly. He even found a shipping price that was much lower than I was able to find. (I'm not very good at this so really appreciated his help.) When the bass arrived it was, in fact, stunning. Not the slightest scratch. It plays beautifully. The electronics are innovative and create a fantastic palette of sound. For more on the bass, check out ACG, Scotland. If you get a chance to work with Bernard you'll find he is a fine man who does a great job. - John
  10. Is this ACG Recurve 4 Custom (poplar burl) still for sale? I'm a bit confused by the message up top with the words SOLD. Been looking at this for a month and getting swept away. Please let me know. Thanks. - John
