good god - has this music already become so diluted that we need matching outfits, haircuts and now ridiculous co-ordinated 'dances'. every other band we play with sounds and looks like this, although the 'need to pee' dance is admittedly a new for me. a step too far in the quest to be original methinks - 'attack attack. what are they like?' well, they have chuggy riffs, and err, screamy singy vocals, and um they all have tattoos and really tight jeans. 'nope, not narrowing it down there' ah, they jog on the spot and dance like they have 30 kilo gonads. 'oh them' suppose it worked then...

Hope this is ok to post here - if not, apologies mods! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT

Alright guys - the Hartke is up for sale. Pulled the trigger (somewhat hastily) on a GK MB2 500, so really need to recoup some funds (Mrs. Eightball is about to make me Mr. Oneball!). The amp has been cased since new, so really is as new. It has a Tung Sol tube fitted (search for my post about tubes in this amp), which sounds awesome. It comes with the manual and flight case. I have the boxes if anyone wants them, but that could only really work with pickup, or posting without the flightcase. I'm after £350 in the flightcase £20 shipping (it's pretty effing heavy!). That's a lot of watts for not a lot of money! It's on the bay, but i'll pull it for the guys on here if anyone wants it (which i'd prefer tbh!). Obviously the tuner and wireless ain't included!
Very interesting and congratulations by the way! Been thinking about doing the same thing myself, so this is encouraging news..
cheers fox! really really chuffed with it. there is a wee bit of fettling to be done, but well worth it. if you bite the bullet, i'll be happy to give you any pointers that may help. -
well guys, fitted the speakons to my goliath II's - what a difference! tighter, much more focused, deeper, crisper... oh, and louder! it just sounds more right, more alive - kind of like lifting a blanket off the cabs. as a blind test, my wife was unaware i'd done anything to them and spontaneously asked 'what did you mess with now? that sounds different to normal'. she described the sound as 'more together, less boomy' and 'less painful and muddy, but even bloody louder!'. get on a lot better with the LH1000 as a result. not got to try it live yet, but i have high hopes! thanks again to alex et all for the input! i know where i stand on the speakon vs 1/4" debate:) awesome result for £20 odd and a bit of effort!

aye, absolutely normal. my LH1000 does this too.

Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.
Sounds right to me...but what's wrong with the old banana plugs? I've always liked them, nice and simple.
cheers alex and escholl! mission is go! i'll stick up some pics when i'm done. bassbod - half of one of the bananas is missing anyway, plus i'm presently running my cabs from the LH1000, so speakons seem a bit more appropriate. my rig does get driven pretty hard!

right, i'm gonna wire some speakons into my SWR Golaith II's - plan is to relocate the crossover from the jackplate, and put in the speakons where the red/black poles currently are. i'll use the wiring from these for the speakons. not so much of a query as a confirmation; i figure the +ve wire from the red pole should be wired to +1 on the speakon, piggybacked to the +1 on the other speakon. -ve wire from the black pole to the -1 on the speakon, piggybacked to the -1 on the other speakon. 95% sure i'm correct, but will feel a lot better about it with the basschat seal of approval! apologies for my brain leak!

esp will deliver and collect from the venue - they have GK, Ampeg etc.

just caught wind of this - ampeg 610 hlf £499 new. awesome company to deal with as too - ordered my wireless and tuner from here. really helpful when i had a wee problem and phoned them - resolved in about 15 minutes, and it wasn't even their fault! hi all - selling this on behalf of the singer/guitarist in the band - have it on the bay presently, but willing to sell for the start price to a fellow 'chatter or pull it if anyone here wants it. cba to type it all out again, so here's the 'bay blurb! 'Epiphone Goth 1958 Explorer. I'm selling on behalf of a friend. Here's wee bit of blurb.-; it has Alnico Classic Humbuckers, mahogany set neck and body. The pickups sound really hot. Some EMG style pickup covers have been added at some point (just like Jaimz!). It's obviously been a player, but is in pretty good nick. I've tried to picture the bits that aren't so good. It has 1 ding on the back of the lower horn which can't be seen when playing, some buckle rash, and a wee bit of wear on the bridge (from palm muting I’d guess!). There are of course some shiny patches in the finish which are unavoidable with satin paint, but that's how it would look in a fortnight if you bought it new anyway! It comes with an explorer hardcase which is in pretty good nick besides 1 slightly dodgy latch. All in, it plays really well, with a nice hot, full distorted sound, perfect for metal and rock. Get on the volume control and it cleans up nicely too!' looking for £190 + £15 shipping shipping is a guestimate - it's pretty heavy in the large case, but i'll charge whatever it costs. obviously pickup is free, or i'll delivery in glasgow for a coffee (2 sugars, milk) pm me if ya fancy it! might trade for EMG ZW set or SD Blackouts - both with a few quid on top, depending on condition of course!

...and in comes howard (the bass doc). he's currently getting one done for me, albeit from a goliath II. give him a shout, top, top guy!

hi all - just a wee feeler to see if there are any curious basschatters that fancy a wee change. this head is about 2 months old, and in perfect nick - flightcased from new. it's an awesome amp, but i really, really miss my GK - it sounded perfect for me, and nothing else will do that sound, if thats what you need, no matter how good it is. soooooo, anybody fancy a change? would be looking pretty much a straight trade, depending on age, but any ideas welcome - shoot me a pm and we'll see what we can do!

i was very disappointed with them (although googling for their crap customer service led me here, so not all bad!!). i ordered a cab from their site - 1 week later, nothing (money was taken from account straight away). phoned them - 'oh sorry, need to order from the distributor blah, blah'. phoned again a week later - them; 'oh that price was wrong, couldn't possibly sell for that...' me; 'can i just have my money back then? them; 'look, leave it with me, i'll try and match the price and phone you back today'. phoned them again 2 days later- them; 'i can offer you blah blah blah for £XXXX' me; 'not really interested in that thanks. can i just have my money back - i paid for something 2 weeks ago which i've not recieved, and you won't/can't supply. costing me money in rentals in the meantime.' them; 'well thats hardly my fault is it?' me; 'eh? well yes!' points out obvious. them; 'well you'll get your money back. i don't see why you're making an issue of this' me; 'just do that then please' 3 days later, no cash. me; 'i'm phoning about a refund i've not recieved, and i'm starting to get a wee bit irritated' them; 'oh that was the boss - his manner can be a bit unfortunate sometimes. look leave it with me and i'll see if i can get a good price on that cabinet...' me; 'nooooooooooooooooo! just want my money back! them; 'i'll sort that out today'. 4 days later, recieved a cheque which took 3 days to clear (bearing in mind they took it straight away out of my account) apologies for the essay, but i'd stay clear - mistakes happen, but this smacks of something else.
Nah he's at it. The description stinks. By who? Didn't they notice the glaringly obvious "upgrade"? Erm... it's a P. (subjective ) But again didn't notice the non Tele headstock. A pro who needs go back to the axe shop to be told that the headstock is not original but an "upgrade" Lastly Utter bilge.
i've had some decent necks out of baja; not sure i'd call a mex p bass standard neck an upgrade though!
Wouldn't it be easier to covert it to a four-string by just removing the B-string instead of ruining a decent bass?!...it'd certainly look better as a 5-string with a string missing IMO!
...or just not play the b!
However the sleeve mechanism on both, despite looking the same as before, is a noticably looser fit and has a weaker spring, which will help with the reported problem (not seen it myself) of them self ejecting.
exactly the problem i had with them. not particularly with mono jacks, but absolutely awful with stereo (as in all active instruments). granted, i only tried them with switchcraft jacks (others may be ok), but not acceptable to have them just pop out mid track; ooer mrs
