  1. Price dropped again. Now 2400 GBP plus sh/h
  2. Just traded in this wonderful old Tobias from the early 90s. It is No. 1107 and therefore one of the sought after builts from Michael Tobias himself before he transferred the production to Gibson. I played more of these wonderful basses about 15-20 years ago and this bass performs extraordinarily well too. Although today I am not more into the small 17mm spacing so I offer it here for sale or trade again. Specs: Figured Bubinga top and back 9-pc Through-Neck with Wenge and Purpleheart stringers, asymmetrically shaped ! Figured Pau Ferro board 34“, 17mm 5.1 kg Original Bartolini pickups and preamp OHSC The finish of the bass has some of the typical imperfections from that era. At the early 90s the regulations for poly finishes in US had become much more restrictive so Michael had to experiment with new lacquer process. So there are some air pockets (?) under the surface. Please look at the pics. Otherwise it looks wonderful, plays like butter and sounds very responsive, yet organic and warm. Asking 2500 GBP plus shipping from Germany. The bass has been offered from another fellow BCer months ago - here is the link to the original thread:
  3. 4,9 kg, but it feels lighter as it hangs well balanced on the strap.
  4. Selling my wonderful F Bass BNF5 Fretless. Compared with the AC5 this model has no chambered body but a second magnetic pickup. This BNF5 has the Ebony bridge which in my ears has a better support for an organic fretless sound than its metal sister. Spec: Ash body, high gloss Maple Neck with Ebony Board, no lines F Bass Pickups with Matching wooden covers F Bass Electronic (V/V/T and 3-Bd. EQ, Passive Mode and Coil-Tap) 34,5“ Scale 19mm Spacing Ebony Bridge F Bass Gigbag Everything in top condition with the following exceptions: on the lower body side there is a 1cm ding (look at the pics) and the electronics cover has some wear from unprofessional opening. The bass is strung with LaBella Black Nylon Flats, providing a wonderful singing tone. SOLD
  5. The Maroon coloured coils are correct for all Fender basse until early 64. Copper coloured coils appeared in 64. So this is legit. Very nice bass. Tragic that one pickup is a replacement...
  6. Trade only against Smith, F Bass, Fodera, Ken Lawrence. +/- cash.
  7. Selling my wonderful and MINT Modulus Quantum 6 with Buckeye Burl Top. It‘s a cracking bass but 17mm string spacing is too small for my fingers. Specs: Alder Body, Graphite neck bolt-on, Bartolini pickups Aguilar OBP-3 preamp Dunlop Straplocks 35 scale, 17 mm spacing at bridge Low action, neck straight, sound has lots of attack, deep lows and crisp highs, sounds definitely ‚modern‘. Technically perfect. SOLD
  8. Just bought a 65 J from Seni. Very good bass as expected, smooth transaction, always good communication ! Thanks my friend. Waiting for the next deal with you !
  9. Still looking for trade against a Fodera 5 or 6
  10. Yes indeed ! Congratulations ! That one was the very beginning of my life long Smith love. Sold it due to financial trouble and regretted that sale immediately. Tried to get it back years later and now it popped up here at TB... A very good BT5 ! I love that fine Koa grain. Thanks for the pictures. That helps a lot.
  11. Hi all, Anyone out there who owns an old Ken Smith BT bass with a 3-knob preamp - preferably 1991 or older ? I would be very happy if I could get a picture from the preamp with solderings and wirngs intact. I just received a BT6 from that era where the previous owner swapped out the original pre and unsoldered some wires. Now I need the correct connections ... Anyone who can help me...? Regards Rainer
  12. Thanks Simone, very nice, but I would highly prefer a 5er or 6er.
  13. Still available 🙂
  14. Still available ! Open for reasonable cash offers !
  15. Nothing received ...
  16. Very nice ! These lightweight Xotics are worth a try for every Jazz Bass lover! plus excellent seller = top deal ! Is that black or blue ?
  17. Wonderful bass. I am pretty sure that the top is rare and now distinct Chestnut Burl. Good luck.
  18. Fodera Matt Garrison 4 Maple Burl Top & Back This is a breathtaking MG4 with super rare Presentation Grade Maple Burl Top AND Back and numerous other upgrades ! Although a very unique and fantastic bass I would be happy to trade it against a Fodera 5 or 6 with similar value. I would highy prefer Emperor, Emperor 2, MG or Imperials, perhaps Monarch, no AJ model, Presentations or Bolt-Ons, no 36". Let me know what you have. Spec: Presentation Grade Maple Burl full top and back Maple Burl electronics cover plate, cut out from the Back wood piece Walnut body, Chestnut tone block (now distinct) 5-pc Ash neck Ebony board with Abalone blocks, 22 frets 33 scale, 19mm +/-0.5mm at bridge Year: around 2005 Pickups: Seymour Duncan Dual Coils with Ebony cover (non-eyposed) Pope preamp Ebony ramp Weight: 4,44 kg Original case and tools Action is very low and playability is unbeatable. Even if this is one of the smaller Foderas the sound is as dominant and responsive like on the bigger models. Foderas with exhibition grade top and back wood are extremely rare finds. This bass retails new for more than 15.000 USD plus shipping/VAT. Two after-market Ebony ramps will come with the bass. The bass is top condition, only 2 very small dings on the body sides which are not visible without a close inspection. Frets, Truss Rod, Action, Tuners, Electronics - everything works perfect. The bass features a SHORTER fretted area (22 frets) to improve the slap capabilities. I personally prefer slapping on 21/22 fret basses because it sounds fuller and more organic than slapping on 24 fret boards. Shipping from Duesseldorf / Germany. Asking 7.000 GBP or 7.700 Euro plus shipping from Duesseldorf. Tradewise I am looking ONLY (!) for the following: Other Foderas (see above), pre-CBS Fenders, Alleva Coppolo 5ers, Ken Smith Elite 5ers. Nothing else please ! 2 for 1 or 1 plus cash for one is fine with me.
  19. Selling my Vanderkley Aurora, which I bought as a backup for another one. Top condition. Comes with rack ears, Case, Speakon AC cable. SOLD
  20. Selling this wonderful Tube Preamp from US. Condition like new. Comes with a non-original Bag. For specs please look at jule amps or the numerous threads at Talkbass.com. Experts know what we have here. Asking 1100 GBP or 1200 EUR plus shipping from Duesseldorf/Germany. No trades please.
  21. Selling or trading my original 1964 Fender Precision Bass. Nicely worn. Professional refret. Everything else original including case which is worn as well. Ready to gig. It is an early 64 PB with the clay dots. Checked everything like nail holes, pickup wires, matching patterns under the serial plate and in the neck pocket etc etc. Previous owner has damaged the logo and scratched the patent numbers. Remaining part is still there and original. Nice strong output. Truss rod screw still flush with the neck end. Everything works as expected. SOLD
  22. Selling my F Bass BN5 with breathtaking Ambrosia Maple Top and lots of unique features. Pure elegance. Specs Ash Body One piece Maple Neck with highly figured Birdseye Maple Board 34.5 scale Black Hardware Oil Finish Dunlop Straplocks Tara Labs Wiring from pickups to pre and from pre to output jack F bass electronics with 2 tappable stacked Humbuckers 19mm spacing Small Frets Sleeker neck profile with slightly smaller nut width Very nice sounding, playing and looking BN5. Some lighter wear on the body as the oil finish is not as reliable like the regular poly finish. But visible only at a closer look and nothing which I could show in pics. SOLD
  23. Selling my Fclef Classic Jazz Bass 5 with Natural finish, 70s Pickups positions, Maple Board with Blocks and Binding, both with a tinted look. Specs: Ash Body Maple Neck with Maple Board Blocks & Binding, aged look 34" scale Hipshot Hardware Duncan Pickups Fodera Pope Preamp (Vol/Tone Stack, Blend, Bass, Treble, A/P switch) Metal Knobs Dunlop Straplocks 4,47 kg weight Not so heavy 70s JB5 with a super snappy slapping tone (Look for Tamas barabas' videos on YT).
