How did the bill ever get to be that way round?

If that’s the case why does the paradiddle etc even exist? If L and R are identical then isn’t paradiddle same as, say, mama papa?

I should really know this but (jazz chart question)

Don't know, but I'm going to have guess: passing chord. -
Good to see Reef “Put Your Hands” getting a few mentions here… I’d forgotten that awful song. But it did somehow remind me of the dreadful “Two Princes” by Spin Doctors.

Yes MITB is the one that surprised me..

Low-tech suggestion: Could it be handled by moving her mouth nearer the mic for those parts? Mic technique I guess.

Out of musical attributes, play-by-ear is far and away my weakest. So I would turn any such thing down. To accept it would be not fair on me, not fair on the audience and not fair on the other musicians.

petes bass playing on Quadrophenia demos
Nail Soup replied to Musicman666's topic in General Discussion
I've heard a few comments over the years praising Pete's demos... and that some people prefer them to the Who versions. Based on the YT link in the OP I can see why. Would be interested if he really did these alone... impressive if he did. -
But I'd probably go with the green one because I'm shallow and It's prettier.

Ref the thread title. Saying that a bass is your love is going quite far enough. Saying it's your lover is going too far.

Chris Stein is out of the live lineup too due to health issues.

If you are sharing the vocal load between the band, one thing you should consider is distributing the vocal part where the instrument is simple.... so if song has a simple guitar part then guitarist sings it. If has a simple bass part then bass player sings it. Of course won't always work out that way.

Geezer Butler on Loose Ends (Radio 4)

Yes - his interest in Satanism etc is purely academic! -
For those who have had to use a backup bass, why?

Broken - the only options are band mate or audience? I guess you are assuming that Paul Simenon is not a member here? -
Another hissy fit - Sleaford Mods this time

Agree - in fact they could make their set more live by having a live bass player IMO. -
Playing songs with a pick and fingers in the same set

Even if you did, I'm sure you'd find somewhere to tuck it 😟 -
Stone Valley South festival. Will meet up with some of the family - my sister and her partner, and our mum will come on Saturday morning and stay overnight too.

Just something that puzzles me, would be interested to hear some discussion and thoughts on it. Go to a drum tutorial and before long the teacher is teaching how to do rolls etc which are expressed in terms of left and right hand. So a paradiddle is RRLR-LLRL, and another different sounding roll is RRLL-RRLL. Both have the same 'hits' as each other, it's just the handedness that varies. So far so good. So... in a world with sophisticated drum sounds, multi-layered samples etc why does no drum programming software I've ever seen have the ability to program a 'left hit' and 'right hit'?

Here goes. My initial thought was remembering back to when I was a child... my friend told me that his parents had told him that they could see him all the time, wherever he was, whatever he did. I told my Mum about it and (looking back) her body language showed no little disapproval at their parenting methods. So it's about the "eye in the sky watching you until you die". The music came naturally but didn't support a full set of lyrics, just the single refrain. Technotes: Usual suspects... Studio one DAW, MT Power drums (with some tweaks by me), Vantage Avenger bass, Squire Tele guitar, a couple of keyboard settings in Studio One.

Who says the bass player can't pull? Or maybe it doesn't count if it's another bass player 😀!

Good Job! Bonus points for all the stop/starts... always a danger point when playing unrehearsed. And looking like you were enjoying it too!

RIP Andy. A great bassist, but never given the recognition he deserved. I saw a Smiths Tribute a few years ago and was amazed at the number of cracking basslines Andy produced.

Good for if you are a) single and b) want to stay that way.
