  1. I think Mustang Sally will be the cockroach of the music world and survive even the Nuclear holocaust .
  2. What is the physics behind that? Not that I will necessarily understand the answer 🙁.
  3. I saw them supporting Yard Act a few months ago. Great band... very cool, especially the bass player.
  4. Doesn't speak much, but when he does it's worth listening to. Or am I thinking of someone else?
  5. I think Dylan is more than a good songwriter. I like him as a singer and his musical arrangements are good too. There have been plenty of great covers, that much I do agree with.
  6. Is there anyone here who supports the “bass should be felt and not heard” viewpoint? (not me)
  7. I mean, you don’t go to the cinema for a big name projectionist. Disclaimer: Projectionists may not exist anymore.
  8. Heinz was, of course, originally a bass player in the Tornadoes. Promoted as a solo artist by Joe Meek due mainly to Meek’s infatuation with Heinz. Unreciprocated according to Heinz.
  9. I wasn't aware of it, but when I used to travel a lot with work this would have been a great option. I'd think it would be worth a try in your situation too.
  10. FB gave me the answer.... it's Sinead O'Brien ( I'd been searching for Edna O'Brien - who is an author)
  11. Listening to Courtney Barnett's first LP (Well I count it as such) - "the 2 EPs"... ooh must be nearly 10 years old now.
  12. I wouldn't. Mind you I haven't seen your idea from the front.
  13. I'll go for relatively melodic.... In the early Crass records, you could consider the basslines (Pete Wright) as the sole melodic element:
  14. Just a personal viewpoint coming up, I realise that loads of people here love choosing tuners and stuff........ I wouldn't have a custom guitar or bass made for me as I have no idea what tuners I like best and don't want to invest any time/effort into finding out. I prefer to just buy an off-the-shelf guitar and let the manufacturer make the choice. Sorry to not really answer your question, hope you get some meaningful answers from others!
  15. I try to have a go on drums now and again.... lucky if it happens more than once in a year though. I stood in on drums (rehearsal only!) a couple of times for my old band when the drummer was away. I was much better than either of the other two guys would have been, but nowhere near good enough to gig it. Good fun though! occasionally book a rehearsal room and have a bash to some tracks I record at home. In fact, I reckon I'm due a drum session any time now 🙂.
  16. I heard a few great songs by this artist, but they didn't have an album so I'm waiting for it.... should be around about now. Liked her so much that I can't remember her name 🙂 ! I'll have to post a question on one my FB groups....... I think someone will know!
  17. To be fair (no pun intended) Fairport's music does actually sound British.
  18. Birth Certificates I suppose 😉
  19. JJ and Hugh, The Stranglers, Dead Los Angeles
  20. Played debut (not counting a few weeks ago at a very small session) Clawhammer banjo (Cornbread and Butterbeans) at my monthly folk/acoustic session last week ... went down well and someone suggested doing another one next time. So I'm working on "Georgie Buck", alternating between instrumental and vocal sections. Bad timing with the acrylic nail.... it had grown out too much, and fell off during my performance! didn't matter though as it had protected the natural nail enough to play with real nail. New acrylic has been glued on since..
