  1. The BVs from Glen were more melodic too, based on the clips I've heard. But then didn't McClaren claim that Glen was sacked for liking the Beatles?
  2. Good version. To be fair, the OP version did have to fit in many more artists, hence the 7 mins. If you measure it in mins per artist then the original doesn't seem so pithy in comparison 😉.
  3. Napalm Death in Milton Keynes, March 26th. Quite a small venue, so that's a plus point. I saw them couple of times in the 80s then kind of lost touch. I reconnected with them via a couple of Basschat suggestions (and found that they had maintained a good quality output over the years)and decided to see them live again at next opportunity. (Although I have the Woodentops a couple of days before, so not strictly next)
  4. Time to do it is not an issue nor the reason for asking…. I’m thinking more that it may make old posts and thread’s unreadable. So probably best to wait until the admin suggest a Course of action then I’ll go with that
  5. I just read site news on this topic... so I'll just wait while you work on it . Sorry, I cannot change the title of this question.
  6. I just tried to make a post, including an image but I got a message saying "You have used all of the attachment space you are allowed. Manage Attachments to free up space" ... seems I am at 202% (or something) of my limit . Is this correct?
  7. It's difficult being objective about your own work. You may have a voice on one shoulder saying 'this is the best thing ever' and a voice on the other saying ' this is a pile of cr4p'. In the case of the OP, you were invited so just follow your gut feel and do your best. And then submit and see what they think. You can always say 'I went for simple/complicated/whatever (delete as appropriate) bass-lines - is that what you wanted?'.
  8. Yes, kitchen-sink syndrome. Difficult to know when to stop adding.
  9. Had to be the panda. I went with the 'pander' pun, and made the song about not pandering to big-heads who think they know best. Important note: It's not aimed at anyone on Basschat, where great advice is modestly given of course 🙂! Technical: Mostly as usual...... Studio One DAW (first time on the new PC.... see future post about new PC 😉), Drums via Piano-roll, Vantage Bass, Squier Tele Guitar , Keys: a supposed 'bell' sound played via Akai Mini , Vocal recorded with new mic ... cheap and cheerful condenser mic (C-1) from Behringer.
  10. That song is brilliant…. I’ve heard on 6music a couple of times, but good to hear it again. Interesting final chapter in the song!
  11. 2 - Baxter Dury - Miami (On Edit - Just listened to the lyrics in this ..... I guess I heard a radio edit?)
  12. Just been listening to a 3-hour bass themed show on 6 Music (aired a couple of weeks ago, Gideon Coe) Fantastic show, I'll post 2 or 3 stand-outs here. 1- Graham Central Station - Release Yourself
  13. Indeed. Also featured the less celebrated “go Dave!” before the keyboard solo .
  14. JJ Burnell sang on a lot of Stranglers songs (1/3 according to his estimate).. was a decent vocalist, although I think Hugh was better.
  15. interesting article on the origin of the Sleng Teng rhythm https://www.nippon.com/en/japan-topics/g02027/okuda-hiroko-the-casio-employee-behind-the-sleng-teng-riddim-that-revolutionized-reggae.html?fbclid=IwAR2Vyrap3ZE6ZCbeKHAPjnwVXMkuvaYoNIybaG3wdertPR2yA-BcwWIoUbM
  16. I think the US don't have an on/off switch on their sockets either. I remember some US visitors being bemused by the UK sockets with the funny little pointless switches.
  17. Immediate vote. MC5 Devo New York Dolls Then discarding the ones I don't like and/or are not very rock and roll.... I get: Kate Bush A Tribe Called Quest. Would love it if Devo won though!
  18. Not so sure…. Judging by some of the girls in the playground who could play a large repertoire, but in a shrill kind of way.
  19. I think at school we were just taught to get the 'right' notes out of the recorder with no thought to tone and listenability. Mind you, I couldn't even do that!
