  1. Elvis and the Wailers
  2. Could it be as simple as a boost pedal activated for those sections?
  3. I Can’t Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head is a pretty well known (and good) example:
  4. The bloke who used to run my local folk session used to explain harmony: Sing different notes to the lead vocal. If no-one starts looking at you, you're in harmony.
  5. The Nightingales in Bedford with Pete Astor as support - on Sunday 7th. Due to re-arranged dates I'm double booked that night - So there's a ticket going spare for Chubby and the Gang at StAlbans Horn if anyone's interested in a freebie. update: Just seen that Chubby and the Gang has been cancelled, so no spare ticket. On the plus side I’ll get a refund or maybe a rescheduled date 😃
  6. Actually I think the OP got it right. an open G shape will become an A. A barred G will still be a G. That is what it makes it hard to convert on the fly just by looking - in my experience also.
  7. I think when name bands get a replacement for an established member there should be an understanding that the new guy may need to stand down if the original person wants to return. Recently happened with RHCP if i remember correctly.
  8. @MoJo out of interest, where will these decals be applied? A bass???
  9. Well done @upside downer nice work! Was a great set of tunes, very hard to make a selection of 3.
  10. Not sure, never tried it..... can't find any blurb in the box either.
  11. Some even considered it a demotion would you believe?
  12. Keith Levene used an aluminum guitar in PiI
  13. I forgot to mention that the Xvive has four channels, so four people in the band can use a pair. Enough for most, but a constraint for a few bands I guess.
  14. It’s similar to a lot of modern art in that there is nothing particularly interesting unless you know the back story. And even then maybe not 😐.
  15. I can’t compare with any others, but I use Xvive XU2 with no issues. The main plus point for me was that both the transmitter and receiver are rechargeable so no faff with batteries or mains leads. Get enough on one charge for a couple of rehearsals or gigs.
  16. Same here…… I guess that included a lot it radio on in the background, music in films etc….. but even so still a lot.
  17. True, but I’m more amused by “there’s only two types of music, good and bad”
  18. Went over my head too. As did Hellzero's joke-explaining reaction. Took Teeb's in-depth breakdown to bring me up to speed.
  19. Just remember the old bass players adage: If you like a zing - fits new strings. If you like it mellow - leave them, fellow ! (Ok I might have made that up!)
  20. It sucks for sure to be replaced, not a nice feeling. I think they just got in early enough that you were still on trial rather than a full member so hopefully that will help you feel less aggrieved. Pity you sank a lot of time into learning but on the plus side you got some new experience. Good luck with the next one!
  21. Yes Mackie is great but won’t help with protecting the neighbours from your sax😐
  22. Just don’t use it on your Ernie Balls😉
  23. I'm undergoing some culture shock in this area. My old band (now on long term hiatus after two members left) used to practice regularly and it was expected to turn up having only semi-learned the song. We'd fix the rest in practice room, sometimes could take a while. It didn't help that 3 of us sang both lead and backing vocals and with two guitars we never knew in advance who would do which vocal part or guitar part. That was worked out in the practice room. My new band which I joined just before lockdown and is now re-activating have only occasional rehearsals. We had one 4 hour rehearsal before lockdown at the end of which the BL said "see you at the first gig"! ( but there were no gigs due to covid) Big change for me. So we all learn our stuff at home and polish up in a single session. It helps that its one vocalist (me), one guitar (BL), one bass and one drums. Both bands are punk and new wave covers.
  24. Apologies for ignorance 😃 but what are rack ears?
