  1. The new Low album (from which this is taken I think) is album of the day on 6music today. Interesting new sound from Low methinks, based on the couple heard so far. Good that they are not stuck in a rut even after all these years.
  2. Yes, it that will ruin it for the audience, so make him stop. Even worse is if what he plays gives a 'spoiler' of what the next song will be. Really really stop that.
  3. Sunburst? Nay, nay and thrice nay! Daphne Blue? Yay, yay and thrice yay! Surf Green? A single Yay. To paraphrase Ian Dury in S&D&R&R: Sunburst is such a pity.
  4. The new album by Amyl and the Sniffers: Great Australian punk!
  5. Amazing record........ in that the cheerful tune and jaunty bassline are totally at odds with the tragic nature of the lyrics.
  6. This song really caught my ear, great sound and great chorus. The Fixer by The Bug Club:
  7. For those not familiar with much Hip Hop there is a four part BBC Radio 2 (yes Rap is Radio 2 now!) series by Romesh Ranganathan (yes the comedian!) where he gives a pretty good intro... the first one has expired and the second only has three days left Romesh Ranganathan: For The Love of Hip Hop https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000yvxd
  8. Amazing how someone can write an ad that will contain at least one red flag for each reader.
  9. Actually, I think that even massive Smiths/Morrissey fans don't want to hear another singer like Morrisey. It only worked once.
  10. I was surprised to see that the 10-piece live band for the shows was put together by the keyboard player from Klaxons:
  11. I think of rap as just the vocal style, and hip hop covers the instrumental music and other cultural elements. and yes not all rap is hip hop. For example you could think of Johnny Rotten as rapping, but not the Pistols as hip hop.
  12. I can’t stand that either. But as you found out there I’d loads of rap not like that.
  13. I purchased the new album by "Sault" yesterday... here's London Gangs. I think it counts as rap.....: They are one of those 'anonymous' outfits, but I think one of the people behind Sault produced the Little Simz album.
  14. Ha Ha, when I saw the thread resurrection I thought to myself that I could post Little Simz 😃... you're ahead of me! I think everything I've heard by her has been great.
  15. Sounds like you were just being honest and trying to manage expectations. But then maybe that made them think you’re not the right fit….. which may or may not be correct. The opposite approach brings to mind a phrase which has entered the lexicon recently “fake it till you make it”!
  16. Yep, still in working in working condition! Now one of my kids has left home I’ve got room to keep it permanently out of the lost, do hopefully I can not get rusty again.
  17. You're giving me GAS for G-clamps now!
  18. Looking forward to the pics and maybe a soundclip......
  19. Good idea! I could add something to the title maybe?
  20. I'm willing to hold my head high with the banjo, but draw the line at clip-on tuners while performing (it's OK while you're actually tuning... then unclip it!)
  21. That can make it easier to get a rehearsal room too. It’s not just band members who can be unavailable.
  22. Never played banjo in a band but at home I tune to a clip-on or my phone app.
  23. Does anyone know of an example on YT or whatever of the same group of musicians perform the same piece twice.... once in ET and once in Just intonation?
