  1. If you want to stick with the Zoom instead of going to a DAW, the following *might* help: Before I had a DAW I used to use a ZOOM MRS4 four track recorder. From the zoom website I downloaded an accessory called an MRS Card Manager or something.. You could use it to back up your memory card, and also to convert your Zoom tracks to WAV files. (had to pull the card out of the Zoom, and plug it into a card>USB adapter) So I'd use the bounce function in the Zoom to make a final stereo mix to two tracks, and then use the card manager to convert the stereo mix to a WAV mix. Maybe there's a similar tool for your model?
  2. On the topic of Cardigan mix-ups, I always got the Cardigans mixed up with Swedish contemporaries the Concretes. Here's a couple from the debut album..... one upbeat, one (my fave!) more Velvets-y. Note: You can't Hurry Love is not a cover.
  3. Now then, now then!
  4. Very good, and absolutely has the professionalism you are aiming for. The only tip I can give: to maintain the professionalism, do not put me on your list of deps!
  5. If you make a mistake, repeat it. Will look deliberate then Jimi Hendix I think I heard it from, but guessing he wasn't he first to say it.
  6. It was worth a try. But for future ref: £10 is the bribe for a vote, not just a listen
  7. But if renamed with an intention to deceive or mislead could be considered a violation of trade descriptions act 😉.
  8. So Motörhead never appeared on Later With Jools Holland then?
  9. Well there might be a song without any 😃
  10. I'm not an expert, but I found an "Old Grey Whistle Test" version. The photo evidence suggests hard rock: (and to my inexpert ears I'd say it sounded more like hard rock)
  11. I see your "Joy Division Oven Gloves" and raise you "Nick Cave Dolls"
  12. Of course, you can actually buy them now...….
  13. OK, we can close the ‘worst gig’ part of the thread now.
  14. One of my faves who were at the Ally Pally gig.. I saw them a couple of years ago in London, and did not disappoint.
  15. I just posted this in the 'best gigs' thread. But I reckon it deserves a cross-post here: Unfortunately I don't remember much of it, but I do remember buying two singles by the all-female Swiss band Kleenex. Here's one of them.
  16. Now I have to qualify this. These are the best ones according to my memory. But, recently someone on BC posted a pic of the Au Pairs bassist at Alexandra Palace 1980. I remember going to that all-dayer, but not seeing the Au Pairs. So I just googled the line up. I can't believe there was so many great post-punk bands, and I only remember John Cooper Clarke! I was 15 and went on my own. Here's the line up:
  17. Had these bands actually existed I thinks a fair few would have had a deserved place in this thread:
  18. Some kind of foam I suppose.
  19. This was my gateway track from Punk/New Wave into post-punk: Delta 5 - Mind Your Own Business: As post-punk often does, it has a great bassline.
  20. Great thread. Now, I'm not going to get into a debate about what constitutes post-punk. No siree, not me !
  21. Yes. And exacerbated by their ability to cut through the mix.
  22. Absolutely. He did a perfect Beefheart. The drummer (aahh name eludes me now) did a great job, but could not beat the magic when JF got behind the kit for a bunch of songs.
