  1. I’m a massive Fall fan and it’s a shame about Mark. I’d have been as big more cautious about saying how great they’d be though. I had the opposite experience though.... I saw them when the band were well into the revolving door phase. The band walked on and I didn’t recognise anyone and MES looked about 20 years older than his actual age. Turned out to be a great gig. I went with my brother, not a Fall fan, and he thought so too.
  2. Nice pedal board. I don’t understand what many of them do, but nice pedal board!
  3. You forgot the bit where you stop the looper for a few bars and then start it again 😃!
  4. Yes I think so👍couple of years earlier than i thought. At least they improved the sound for the release.
  5. I went to see X-ray Spex (2010 I think) at the Roundhouse when Poly reformed the band for the shows. The support group (Goldblade) were OK, but had a great sound. X-Ray-Spex came on. They kicked off with "Oh Bondage Up Yours", but the soundman had not opened the vocal mike. So we missed most of the the iconic spoken intro ("Some people think little girls should be seen and not heard"). Then the band kicked in. Well, I say the band.... Drums and Sax. The Guitar and Bass were buried so low in the mix it ruined the night. So disappointing!
  6. Sometimes it's good to go back to the classics.... Sex Pistols NMTB.... here's Liar:
  7. Just listened to your set. I would have thought it wasn’t my thing, but actually thought it was great. Fantastic batch of songs brilliantly played and sung. The sound was excellent too. Best wishes for the coming months.
  8. So the tree saved trees?
  9. I don’t think that the stick of wood has to fill the hole, just narrow it down sufficiently. And it doesn’t need glue normally, just the additional pressure/friction from the stick.
  10. You make a convincing argument. Not a knockout, but you’re ahead on points. And you probably have better walk-on music 😉.
  11. I’d love to need this ......... but my entire recording space is about a 3 foot radius in front of my PC 🙁.
  12. Kasabian - Club Foot.... the crowd usually sing along to the bass intro I think.... see this example:
  13. Blondie: I will give you my finest hour. The one I spent watching you shower. Terrible rhyme. Great thought.
  14. Sad to hear that. I hope your use of past tense means your daughter is OK (or thereabouts) now. It must be a really difficult thing to support someone through.
  15. I'm not keen on the 'self-rhyme'.... see example from Black Sabbath War Pigs: Generals gathered in their masses Just like witches at black masses
  16. Sting may not have read Nabakov either!
  17. I can't improve on the advice from @Doddy : Multi Effect :oom B3 or a Line 6 M5 TC Electronic for individual pedals.
  18. To keep it company you might like a Hardman Hammer:
  19. As said above, a decent budget multi-effect is a good place to start. Especially if you can borrow (as in your case). As also said, decent budget individual pedals are available. Watch out for the 'boutique' pedals, going down that road can get expensive. Also think about how you will power the pedals...... you don't want to lose power due to a flat battery. And batteries can be expensive too. Many use a mains power pack to run their pedals. I use a rechargable battery pack to avoid mains leads on stage. Not exactly an effect, but you may wonder about using compression. In this case you may find a lot of heated debate about it on on-line forums 😉.
  20. I don't think open tunings are much help on bass (too muddy).... but alternative tunings might be usefull. For example making open notes available to use as a drone, or open notes which you can play between fretted notes. Or to make certain sequences playable.
  21. Was that working in a pub which has covers bands? Mr Brightside looks to be here for a while I’m afraid
  22. Oh, come on! Scott wears white gloves
  23. Bit complicated. Surely a better solution is to make a pit in the floor. This would have its own natural boundary, and no need to calculate neck reach etc.
