  1. OK, so you want responses to be in line with what you asked for in the original post? Been to Basschat before 😉?
  2. You spin me right round like A RECORD babe........
  3. Just remembered this one..... Charlie Higson of the Fast Show was in the Higsons before his comedy career. Here is the excellent "I Don't Want To Live With Monkeys"
  4. Err, what is (are) the obvious reason(s)?
  5. Just one? John French aka Drumbo of Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band. Whether I could produce some worthy bass lines is another matter!
  6. He won Young Musician of the Year before he got into comedy. Seems he's OK at dancing too!
  7. His comedy is not to everyone's taste (I like him) but when he did this song as a BBC red button extra I was very impressed by Stewarts performance and also by the guy with him. So, any opinions on this track.... and/or can you post have an example of some good music from a comedian?
  8. Listening to the recently purchased Au Pairs anthology (their entire recirded output it seems)... Dear John.
  9. Not really got into Doom metal but I do like a bit of death metal. Or do The Melvins count as any kind of Doom? I've tried a few times, but if there's a link posted in this thread I'll give it another go 👍
  10. Good idea... when I read the book "The Rotters' Club" by Jonathon Coe it made it was set in 1970's and made a few references to the band "Hatfield and the North". So I checked out HATN.... and discovered that the second album was called "The Rotters Club". I do like it when a book links to music. Unfortunately on this occasion I did not become a lifelong fan of the band ☹️. On Edit - I mean did not become a fan of HATN (not stewblacks track).... but they were OK.
  11. I guess it's for TV recorder or sleepless nights. I think the late night ones are all repeats that were first broadcast at a reasonable time.
  12. Took a couple of days, but have now watched it all. Fantastic, really enjoyed it. In particular enjoyed getting to the period when drummer (and additional singer) Fliss Kitson joined (2011 I think). Seems like she has totally revitalised the band! (Or as Stewart Lee put it after noting her taxidermy hobby - "do you have an inclination to preserve things that would otherwise have rotted away?") Big fan of Fliss 👍
  13. I remember getting a youtube suggestion (after looking at the Shaggs) for a band who formed with specific intention of recreating The Shaggs records exactly as played...... in order to back the Shaggs singers comeback. Complete with all the off time playing. It was pretty hard work for them to do it as you can imagine. In the clip they interviewed the lead arranger for the band. When asked about the Shaggs singers musicality she gave understatement of the year "I don't think she hears rhythm".
  14. The last 30 mins? You'd have really disliked the earlier incarnations of the band then!
  15. I'd say not. I normally practice for my covers band on a "don't let the other guys down at rehearsal/gig" basis.
  16. This is pretty much a matter of personal preference. When a bar is fitted to a bass, a lot of players remove it. Then some players have one fitted on a bass which doesn't have it. I think most use it as a thumb rather than palm rest.
  17. This thread is going to wreck my Youtube suggestions. Thanks a bunch 😄!
  18. On a Facebook thread for "worst cover" yesterday somebody nominated this. I replied to back them up, but went further and said it was the worst piece of music ever, cover or not. So I guess I need to put my money where my mouth is and put it here.
