  1. Well vinyl and cassettes have made a comeback. You only need to wait for 8-track cartridges to have the inevitable resurgence and you're next in line!
  2. I had a notification yesterday that a gig I'm going to has been pushed back from Jan 2021 to Jan 2022? Jan 2021 was the original date (no previous push backs) and they only scheduled the show a couple of months ago - I guess they thought Jan 2021 was far enough out! How far have your gigs (as musician or audience) been pushed out?
  3. A case of "this thread is better without pictures" methinks. Best wishes to your drummer and lets all be careful with our musical bits.
  4. There's a few suggestions here for TV theme tunes. I think that is OK to set the mood for an atmosphere of fun, and would fit a covers band (such as mine). However, if I ever get to be in an originals band...… it's unlikely I'd want anything 'fun' as an into. YMMV.
  5. How do you confuse a guitarist? Offer them 3 plectrums and tell them to take their pick !
  6. Before anyone else says it, 5...... little, ring, middle, index and thumb.
  7. I reckon twelve should do it. Put eleven in various places... coin compartment of wallet, that little pocket at the front of trousers, some in the gig bag, one in the coin holder of your car. Finally unscrew one of the cavity covers on your bass and put one in there. And screw it back on 😀.
  8. Wow, that really is the opposite of a Telecaster! I love the look of a Tele, but I'm not a fan of that I'm afraid . Anyway, hope you enjoy it!
  9. I'm in a New Wave and Punk covers band. I'd avoid anything in the same genre. If I didn't need to get approval from the rest of the band, I'd go for some reggae (a la Roxy) and, put a funk in too. the 10 mins would go: - Cross The Tracks (Maceo Parker ) - Another One Bites the Dust (Clint Eatwodd and General Saint) - Cocaine in my Brain (Dillinger)
  10. Thanks. I didn't know Emma was in Red Sparrowes, or even know about Red Sparrowes before..... but Emma did come up on my Youtube suggestions after listing to Red Sparrowes on Soundcloud. Could just be based on my other listening, but wonder if the Youtube algorithm knows about soundclound listening?
  11. Getting blown away by this at the moment...... youtube find.........Emma Ruth Rundle
  12. Oh, the devils chord! I did know that one already, but my music theory does not stretch much further. Maybe I'll google the locrian scale later and try it out.
  13. I’m not much of a music theorist. All the ‘scale talk’ gave me a much queasier feeling than the actual scale was purported to give! Apart from the last one (which was too much of a jazz noodle for me) they all sounded good........ I just don’t get why they shouldn’t?
  14. Sorry, but to me he will always be the W anchor who sang Blurred Lines.
  15. Royal Trux - Accelorator album. Here's The Banana Question:
  16. Good place for a demo listen to home recordings too. Usually I can’t play out loud at home.
  17. I think I saw it a few years ago, they didn’t rose tint his unpleasant side if I remember. Great film, great frontman, great band.
  18. Genesis have passed me by far.... but you never know! But a general point- I really don’t like to read lyrics when listening to music. So for me it would be ok to make a comic book with the lyrics, but if the comic book is then set to the music please remove the lyrics- thank you 🙏.
  19. Maybe it's a nod to the Pan's People performances on TOTP around the same time as the album
  20. Great to have those 5 targets. I think the most liberating this is to stop caring if you are 'good' or not (and how can you decide that anyway) and just enjoy the process of learning and doing. Keep going and stay well.
  21. A good example of completely reinventing a traditional song........... Black Betty by Ram Jam (previously best known by Leadbelly)
  22. Good question, don't know the answer.......... did people talk about cover versions before before self-written material became common? Maybe it was just versions.
  23. Greensleeves kinda lovers rock: Deborahe Glasgow, Give Me That Touch:
  24. Looking at it another way round: I consider somebody to be hi-tech if they do all their apps on the phone rather than PC. I'm pretty slow to move the the phone versions of stuff.
  25. hhhhhmmmm not sure about this. There have been a lot of great versions of Dylan songs, but the originals are great too. I think It's just that he's a great songwriter and leaves a lot of room for re-interpretations.
