  1. Nowadays 2 pints and keeping my place anywhere are totally incompatible!
  2. Looks good! My pressing of the 'like' button on your original post does not imply any understanding on my part!
  3. Lots of coments about OU.... just started a topic in Off Topic:
  4. I'd known and loved that song for years, and was amazed to find out it was an old folk song.
  5. Just to offer a balancing point or two to the "my career teacher tried to kill my dreams" posts. Firstly, the comments from successful Musicians, footballers, astronauts who were told they couldn't do it etc suffer from selection bias. Those people are maybe more likely to comment. Second, I think it is OK for a careers advisor, along with helping you to find the route to your desired career, to also give you information about success rates and so on. All part of making an informed choice. Personally, I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do, but eventually drifted into what suited me.
  6. Wow, I didn’t expect that. But I suspect he only said as part of his ongoing rift with Art Garfunkel - Disturbed gifted him the biggest possible insult he could throw at Art.
  7. Someone suggested this as the worst ever cover in one of my FB feeds... what do you nominate as the worst cover? (Sorry if it's been done before) I'm really thinking of ones that deliberately sound the way they do.... not ones done by people who can't play/sing. Going Underground (The Jam) covered by Manfred Mann's Earth Band.
  8. I'm not a depper, so won't give an opinion on what I'd prefer... but this just popped up on FB, so I'll share it here:
  9. Only dropped once? I guess that's a Freudian slip as it sounds like you were dropped in it!
  10. It would be $300,000,001 if you include the Ray Wilson era.
  11. Betty Harris - there's a Break in the Road. Love the drumming in this!
  12. I lost interest when Paul joined, and regained when Baz took over vocals (and JJ returned to singing his old songs). Totally agree - It just seemed totally wrong to have Paul doing his front-man act.
  13. A few gigs I've been to recently have had support acts with one or two members plus a laptop. Not headliners, as I would be unlikely to go to such a gig. So it does seem to be bubbling up.
  14. Uriah Heep was the first ever proper live gig I went to. 15 years old at The Leys Club, Letchworth on October 16th 1971. 1971 means they have been going longer than 50 years..... Are these shows delayed due to Covid, or do the band mark 1972 as their start for some reason, or what?
  15. Talking of Sugbabes and a live band... It's made me remember something... or maybe I i am imagining it. Please let me know. A reasonably renowned female singer of Latino music (can't remember the name) was due to appear on Later with Jools Holland. But something happened and she could not appear... but the all of the band did. So Mutya from the Sugababes filled in for the two(?) songs. And did a good job too. Anyone else remember it (google isn't helping)?
  16. I thought that the original Sugababes line-up were not allowed to use the name? Or has something changed (or I just got that wrong)?
  17. My loft likewise. Reminds me of the day I bought it. On release day, me and a fellow Stranglers-mad schoolmate went down town to HMV after school to buy our copies. Out first 'new' Stranglers album... we had the first three as back-catalogue. We walked into HMV, I picked up the LP - with the 3D cover. The one underneath had a 2-D cover. So did all the rest. He bought the 2-D copy. I still often get a negative guilt-twinge when I listen to the album!
  18. Yeah, he really showed that Burnell chap how bass cool is done!
