  1. At risk of stating the obvious, the mixer can also be used as a mixer... so if you have plans to aquire a small mixer at some point anyeay, then it may then become a better option. But I guess the mixer option would not extend to more than two pairs of headphones.
  2. Nice update! I saw the Smyths a year or so ago, and the bass player was great (but so were the others!) .
  3. I'd say that if you are successful guitarist then you don't have weak points as such. There's probably stuff theycan't do, but you have incorperated that inability into their style and it works. Or did I miss the point?
  4. Comes in a lead guitarist version too:
  5. Idles doing a 30 minute live set on 6 music ..... sounding great so far , two songs in.
  6. I can't think of a good story from first hand, but here's a second hand one - not great but the best I've got. I was at work and new guy joined from an agency, and I recognised him as a drummer from the original local punk scene - a bit older than me, who crucially was there at the start of punk. I was a team leader, and he was in my team, so it already felt a bit wierd! Turns out he was great at his job, and of course I subtly quizzed him about his punk band days. He said that his time with the band ended when he had an argument over something at a reheasal, swore at the rest of the band, stormed out and smashed the fire alarm on the way out.
  7. I've been playing for many years, and have often heard about playing ahead or behind the beat. I've never totally understood it, but I think it's often unconcius and contributes to the feel of the music. I've most often heard it in the context of "Player A plays ahead/behind the beat" - which suggests it's a natural thing. It's something Id like to understand more, but I'm not sure I could conciously go ahead or behind at will.
  8. Thanks - I'll now be thinking about this next time I use the stairs!
  9. In any band I've been in, we all just follow each other.... or follow the song. That's how it feels anyway. But having said that, it is proably the drummer who has the most influence or leading role. It can work the other way round too I guess..... it's the drummer who has the most possibilty to drag the band down. I guess the phrase 'only good as the drummer' is there for a reason. But maybe if I were playing more groove-based music I would follow the drummer more?????
  10. Exactly. However good they are, they can't do something they wouldn't do. it's about having a diversity of minds involved.
  11. So, @NoRhino can I assume that your username is a Quo/Lancaster reference, and maybe your band is a Quo tribute?
  12. So you’ve been in some where they didn’t 😃?!
  13. Just saw this in today’s Mirror
  14. No, but the guitarist might be. I don't see this as good reason to down-tune. Down-tuning should be done for musical reasons, not to work around gear issues.
  15. Luckily not, I'm not a great musician but I've always been in bands with similar level musicians... and normally each was the expert on their own thing. If it did happen I guess I'd find a way to suck it up or rationalise it....... ...... like, it's being right for the job...... for example there was a doc about the Boomtown Rats. They said that the drummer was a much better singer than Bob Geldof, but Bob was the right guy to front the band. Geldof said that was why the Rat's songs were 'laden with backing vocals'!
  16. No grounds for complaint then.... If I did leave something low-value like that for the bands benefit I would mentally 'write off' some of the 'debt' at the beginning anyway - stuff deteriorates over time etc. So no excuse for a social media rant either way.
  17. Wow, was a difficult read... I struggle to follow the plot of the average TV drama! Seems a bit silly for bassist 1 to complain about stuff like this, but I'll ask a follow up question anyway..... was the combo left with the band for the band's benefit (i.e. so they can use it) or the bassists benefit (so he didn't have to store it?)
  18. I'm not a big fan of the medium of cinema and don't know who Ryan Gosling is. If nobody ever made another movie it wouldn't bother me. (OK, I'm probably letting the mainstream Hollywood taint a lot of good work)
  19. Obscure 80's alternative band - The Dog Faced Hermans - Sample song Mary Houdini
  20. Well, with a name like Alan's it's not surprising that it costs a bomb(er)
  21. not sure what you're proposing here......
  22. Good version.... I like the Thunders-esque pose she is pulling in the pic too!
  23. I couldn't afford that price, and I'm not a big enough Quo fan to seriously go for that.......... however, if someone offered to buy me a bass and said you can have "whatever you want"..... i'm sorry too.
  24. I can that somebody might want to sell a totally unnecessary product at a ridiculously high price......... but why target the audiophile market?
