  1. I had the 2x12" version. Super high-quality kit (and complete and utter overkill for my needs). GLWTS
  2. On behalf of the bass, that's very touching and we're both moved. Thank you!
  3. Cheeers! I've had a clear one on for ages and it looks great, but I've not seen this combo of Combustion/tort before so glad it worked out. Also wanted to give a shout out to Tiny Tone - really good customer service. They had the design on file from the last job so did me a discount and I got it really quick.
  4. Thanks. It's a cheap way to pretend to myself I've got a new bass, especially as I'm really happy with the Combustion. I like the mix of retro scratchplate and futuristic bass design.
  5. Thank you Tiny Tone! https://tinytone.co.uk
  6. Finally managed to get it to a drop-off point on Saturday and they took it!!!!! I am so relived to have the thing back on the way to Thomann and I've asked for a refund rather than a replacement - my experience of buying from them has been awful. I may buy strings or bits again in the future but I don't think I'll buy another instrument direct as the process of returning is such a nightmare. ALSO it's pretty hairy not having any of the customer service rights you get with a UK supplier. If I buy from them again I'll pay with a card directly rather than using PayPal as well. PayPal are about as much use as a chainmail condom.
  7. Okay. Update. Thomann have tried three times to arrange collection by DPD. The first time the driver didn't bring a label and went to take the box, I said fine but I'd like to take a picture of the bass being taken so I had proof it had been collected he handed it back to me and refused to take it saying it'd need to be rebooked and he'd bring a label. Rebooked. No show. Rebooked again. No show. Thomann suggested taking it to a store to drop off which I was apprehensive about as the shops are quite small and I was worried they'd not take such a big box but I downloaded a label, stuck it on and went to a store. Didn't work. The label would just went "beep" and was unrecognised. So now what do I do? DPD just won't pick up from my house and I the label doesn't work. Thomann say there's nothing they can do just either keep going to a store and trying over and over again or keep waiting in all day, every day for DPD. I've now opened a case with PayPal to see what they suggest. If Thomann have no other way of collecting the bass PayPal will have to refund me and I can send them the damaged bass.
  8. Also, it really gives you somwhere to go, dynamically. I tend to play on the lighter side but sometimes I really get excited when playing live towards the end of a song or something and it is kind of fun to have a "next level of intensity" to go to!
  9. Not at all - it's just that it's total overkill for my needs. I mean, I do like a bit of over-engineering and I do like nice things but I'm not the kind of player who uses a great deal of processing. I got the ADAM mainly for its distortion, compression and the fact that it's a really high-quality interface for recording - I can pretty much use it with a laptop as the I/O of a DAW. I run the Metaphors because the treble control acts like a good passive tone control and with the compression in and the tone all the way down it can get a really dark, vintage tone so between that and the ADAM I can get all the sounds I want. The octave pedal is mainly for fun, I don't think I'd ever use it live but it's nice to have, but this board as it is is really portable so I can pack my bass, the pedal board, a rucksack and put my amp on a trolley and basically take the full rig to gigs and rehearsals on the tube!
  10. £30 used from this site, as it goes but it’s still frustrating that it’s not up to the job. Honestly I am a bit depressed by all this.
  11. As an update, the Joyo blocker takes the noise down to a very low level. Totally fine for live use and I don't tend to multiple pedals when practising so this is perfect for me for now. I'll keep an eye out for a better PSU in the future, maybe the next time I order something from HB I'll get one of their ISOs so I can dodge the postage charge but thanks - this has all been illuminating!
  12. Hmm. That does sound like a steal, but I'm never going to run more than 3 or 4 pedals so I'll never need that many connections. I'll consider upgrading at some point though.
  13. I mean. I can see the argument but it's never been a problem while using it on its own. It's only been an issue when adding other pedals. However... you're right and I may start saving.
  14. £215.... on a power supply. WOW! Well. Hmm. I think I'll try the Joyo first but I am very very impressed with your commitment to the best quality kit! Nice one!
  15. Yeah. Just daisy-chained all three using the 9v wall-wart and the noise was really bad. I just found the Joyo you linked to on Amazon so I can try it out and easily return it if it doesn't do the job but seriously. Thank you for your help with this - it's much appreciated.
  16. One of them, at least, must be isolated as it is rated at 500mA. I can imagine 1-7 would be chained but 8 being "high current" must have its own circuitry, no? Also, what's weird is there's no interference between the Octave and Metaphors, but there is when the ADAM is connected to either of the other two. I'll have a crack at plain old daisychaining them using a bog-standard 9v tonight and report back but thatnks - I do appreciate your input. If you're right then I'll need a whole new power supply which is really fricken' annoying.
  17. The outputs? Can you clarify a bit - they're just those standard PSU to pedal cables coming out of a power brick. I've connected the hight output one directly to the ADAM as it draws 500mA and then standard connections to the Octave and Metaphors but they're individual cables. See pic above.
  18. I have some daisy chain cables somewhere Will have a go. Ta
  19. Hi. I've put a little pedal board together but I'm getting a chronic buzz when I chain more than one together. I've tried a few things: Replaced the patch cables, still got an issue. Removed individual pedals - no problem. Each one works fine on its own. Took the octave pedal out - that reduced the buzz but it was still there. Solution - I've run a separate power to the ADAM. The Octave and Metaphors are taking power from the power block on the board. See last pic to see what I mean - this has no buzz at all. It's not an earth thing because when I run the ADAM and Ocatave off the pedalboard PSU and plug the other supply in the Metaphors the noise returns. I know the ADAM is a hungry bugger but there's a dedicated 500mA outlet. Would a solution be getting a 1.5A 10v PSU? I'm really stumped by this. Any help gratefully received!
  20. Urgh. Honestly. If you're doing a collection I'd have thought it was automatic to bring a label. The courier was going to take the box away without anything on it saying where it was going ffs. If they'd asked me to print and attach I'd have done so but I'd have wanted to take a pic of it being taken away in the van...
  21. Fair play, Thomann said they'd rearrange and that this time the courier would definitely come with a label and I can take a photo of that as proof of collection which is fine. Will have to wait till friday though boooo!
  22. Well that was odd. DPD just came to collect the bass. I handed it to the courier guy and asked for a receipt and he said he can't give a receipt so I said "okay, I'll just take a photo of you taking the box away" and he said no and handed the box back to me!!!!! What the actual F*CK?!
