Here in West Yorkshire we have Slaithwaite commonly pronounced by locals as Slawit, which I put down to the inherent laziness of the Yorkshire dialect, tha nos. 😉

The bloke who lives opposite my mum has one of those cars in a metallic emerald green colour. Very 1970s. That would also make a great colour for a Bongo.

You are Andy Travis and I claim my £5.

So that’s what the problem is? I never knew that! 😟 I was beginning to wonder if I might have a medical issue. Every day’s a school day. 😂

How about coriander? Americans pronounce it cilantro for some reason 😂

The English way? With a hint of quiet desperation.

I’ve only watched the first two episodes and cringed a bit. After that and reading the comments here I don’t think I can be @rsed to watch the rest.

I believe the correct pronunciation in German is fau vay

That fretless Precision is almost identical to mine except it’s in better condition. The side markers allow for pretty accurate placement without spoiling the look of fingerboard but as with any fretless your ears still have the final say.

Vintage 70's bass guitar - worth getting it fixed?
Velarian replied to dajaphonics's topic in Repairs and Technical
It looks like the original bridge on these was a pretty crude two saddle affair and I’m guessing that intonation was never an exact science. In this example the E and A saddles are further forward than the D and G. It seems counterintuitive but is it possible there there is a point further forward where the bottom strings intonate more closely? I seem to remember there was an example of a left hander on here a while back where this was the case. -
Until you mentioned the pound coins I thought this was going to be a tale about a 1950s P Bass. 😉

Lovely grain pattern in that body. Could you stick with the original colour but in a translucent finish which allows the grain to show a bit?

I think that’s the point. Getting money back is unlikely (caveat emptor and all that) but stopping the bugger is more important.

I thought the string pulls sounded best on the Stingray but overall I preferred BB on the p-bass only pickup.

I believe that PayPal runs it’s UK services from Ireland and I have no doubt that the police will have established communication channels with them for this kind of investigation.

Surely a breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 as they’re not fit for the purpose intended? Were they purchased from a UK seller? If so it might be worth raising the issue with them.

The Police do. It just needs the police to wake up and recognise that a very active fraudster is ripping people off right, left and centre and then take action. The problem is that one instance of this chap’s actions is insignificant and on its own doesn’t trigger any action. However the cumulative effect is significant and if enough examples can be gathered they may be more motivated to take action.

That’s not a great customer support experience!

The 90s has just called and it wants its web site back.

Many years ago I learned the descending opening bass line from Princess of the Streets by the Stranglers. It was several years later when I understood what a blues scale was and only then did I realise what the origin of that bass line was.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try FWIW.

When BackBeat 2 was announced last year I paid the initial $10 payment. Since then I've decided I don't want to buy the unit but I keep getting email "Invoices" for the remaining payment. I'm not bothered about the $10 but don't really want to incur any further expense. Does anyone know if the initial downpayment amounts to a contractual obligation and I'll end up having to pay the full amount or can I just ignore the payment requests now?

It probably won’t come with a user manual but you can download it here: - https://www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Original/10001/OM_2270100000_Rumble_LT25_English.pdf
