1. I am now the proud owner of Jakes snake. Fnar fnar! Bought a multicore from Jake and he is the nicest chap to deal with... very prompt sending item out too. A 5 star diamond geezer... Thanks again buddy!
2. I fully agree with Monckyman. I don't like the powered mixer approach, and would (given a limited budget) try the powered speaker route... However the powered mixer *does* offer onboard effects (or the ones I've used do) so you don't need to buy seperate reverb units etc... On the other hand a mixing desk can be a daunting bit of kit for the unsavvy pa user.... For your needs it might be best to keep it as simple as poss. Ermmmm I hope that helps... Sorry.
3. I haven't used it live (because my band split up before I got chance), but I bought a massive, fully pro' Projector, and plugged it into my laptop, and displayed some "electric sheep" screensavers (in the house) It looked great... My plan was to make some of my own graphics. I'm an artist on computer games so I have plenty of 3d & 2d art skillz (was that the sound of my horn blowing itself?) *note: search for "electric sheep" if you're interested in abstract visuals. It downloads new ones over time so although the selection is limited at first, you get some great ones over time... and you can (or could at the time) download specific ones that other people have posted. PS for sale: 1 massive projector and 3 > £200 lenses. Bah...
4. Dude that propper f***in' rocks! I love it. And I don't normally say that after one listening! Totally awesome buddy.
5. PM'd re- the 15m Kelsey/Neutrick 8 Channel Snake/Stagebox. (sorry I didn't mention which one of the snakes in the PM.)
6. Awesome. Just have to wait until I have the funds then! Looks like just the ticket! Cheers guys.
7. Does anyone have any practical experience using the ipad to control the sliders in Reaper (or any other audio software?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7SmRW9bfWM Just looking for thoughts on how useful or usable it's actually been. I don't have an ipad, have always wanted one but never could justify it, but this might tip me over into getting one, depending what people reckon.
8.
bit of a high jack, but couple of years ago i saw a black hollow body bass in a shop and cant for the life of me remember what it was. As i said it was black hollow body, four string, quite a wide neck, small body and im not sure but i think it had warrior in its name. Dont know if that was the company or the model. Also it had gold hardware. Anyone, please?
can't help I'm afraid... but if you don't have any joy here it might be worth starting a thread with it in the title. The guys here are, as a community, so helpful and knowledgable!
9.
About 5 years ago I had 2 new students starting lessons. The two lessons were next to each other and both had Atlansia basses! What are the odds on that! One came from music ground Leeds and one from music ground London. Very different, but interesting basses!
Did you play them? Remember if they were any good? Wouldn't mind tracking one down tbh!
10. YES... YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!! A thousand yesses! That's the very chappie! Now I see this page it reminded me about the seperate pickups... each string had it's own little pick up! Or two! I have been wondering about these for YEARS! Thanks to everyone who contributed ...helpful, funny or otherwise! This forum rules! Andy
If it was an Atlansia then it will be somewhere on this page. Mine has a perfectly flat fingerboard though... But then it does only have a single string!
11.
MB1. Sounds like youve stumbled into the rehearsals for The lion the witch and the wardrobe? ...given a coffee? in musicground?
Yeah but in fairness they *had* closed within 2 decades. That'll learn 'em for givin' all the profits away in the form of weak one-off coffees. Anyone know about these imaginary basses? I'm close to assuming it was just a dream....
12. I remember the nack radius thing very strongly actually. It was the first time I ever saw anything like that before, and they looked to me at the time like ther were fashioned by aliens on Jupiter or something. I was only used to Fenders. Rics and Gibbos, plus cheap Wal and Shergolds (who knew? Lol)
13.
Zeta Crossover?
Nope. Not if my memory serves me well. They weren't quite so hybrid looking. They were strange, but didn't look a halfway morph between a regular and an upright...
14.
I remember going in there enquiring about a bass they were advertising in Guitarist (or Bass Player) and being told it was sold, only to find out a day or so later that it was still for sale. Seems I didn't smell of enough money to those goons. Good f***ing riddance!
I was shown this super secret room, given a coffee and treated very hadsomely! Ironic cos, although they wouldn't know it, at the time I didn't have two pennies to scratch my arse with, but I obviously smelt right!!! (I heard many bad things about Music Ground and I believe the recent history of the owner is, erm, shall we say "allegedly" very colourful) Nowadays I have loads of pennies to scratch my arse with. They smell horrible.
15. If you've seen the film "American History X" you'd see that although the central character sports a Swastika tattoo, he actually becomes a reformed character and pays a very high price for reforming. I think it's a very *anti-racist* message in the movie. It's one of my favourite films, but I'm not sure I'd sport it as my avatar! I don't know what the intended context of the avatar is, but it sure will stoke some bile whatever the context! Sorry I can't help with the cable, but it seems like you're sorted!
16. Did anyone ever visit Music Ground in Doncater? Were you ever shown the secret mystery bass room upstairs there? I was... it was about 20 or so years ago now, and that shop is long gone, so in my memory it was a secret Narnia type room... I remember them showing me some basses the likes of which I have never seen since, and I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me track down the origin of these mytical basses. I don't remember much about them but they had very heavily radiused boards. I mean they were like a quarter of a circle! I think they said they were aimed at double bass player who wanted something recognisable under their fingers when they needed to go electric. They were, to the best of my recollection very erm, ergonomically shaped bodies... Very fluid and almost like they'd been designed based on a shape seen in a lava lamp. They seemed to me back then (back when Ibanez were still relative newbies) to be VERY high end and custom luthier-ish, although iirc there were quite a number of them on the wall. I also remember the knobs on them were conical rather than the usual cylinders, ...and I think made from turned brass as *one-offs* rather than the usual stock item usually found on basses. Anyone know if this really happened, or was it just a blue cheese induced dream? I tried a search on here, and Google and also on Music Ground (Manchester, I think) website, but without knowing a name I dunno where to even start! Help me put this memory to bed and help me track down this silly stuff. Cheers guys. (I know *someone* here will know something!) Andy

18. Beautiful, man ...it's really lovely. And I know they sound simply stunning too.
19. Just received a Musicman Stingray in Buttercream. Plays like a dream & sounds fantastic. The deal was smooth and went well. Top geezer! Would do business with again! Cheers buddy!
20. I never did sell it, but at the moment I have a few hire gigs with it so it's not really up for sale. Sorry. What sort of price were you looking to spend? I might still be convincable, but I'll just add that the prices being quoted on squatjuice were low enoug to make it not worth my while selling. btw I did a Rush tribute band at Doncaster Civic Hall last week. it was the first outing for the gear and it sounded massive! This friday is for comedian Steve Womak. I can't imagine it being massive this week. lol
21.
I dont think that you will have much luck finding one for that model bass, unless you modify a plate that has a cut out for a P pickup.IIRC your bass has a reversed P pickup ? you could get one custom made,or make one yourself, but that would cost more.
Just out of interest does anyone have any experience of, or links to, custom scratchplate manufacturing/
22. Just bought a CIJ Precision bass off Mike. It would be fair to say that Mike made this one of the best buying experiences I've had on Basschat. He did everything to make it smooth. Best communications so far, kept me completely in the picture when the bass was being delivered... Thanks for everything buddy! Andy
