If you insured it and would send it to the USA you would have had your cash in hand. I have heard the stories of bad shipping nightmares. Yet I have had great luck with fedex from and to UK. If you change your mind about shipping let me know please. I have the money for you. Pack it well, pay the fedex store to pack it, I will pay for that also. What did you send that was ruined. Did you lose money out of it. If it gets trashed, I am out the money, waiting for insurance. Yeh right, You have the cash anyhow. Sure we are both out a bass but the odds are slim, and you get what you want. Now I thought you were into cash trades right Mate /cheers Steven
I didn't follow that in the slightest. I must be getting old, or feeble minded or something... Sorry for sidetracking but I really wanted to know what that last post meant.
It took me a second or three to figure out what you were on about! Nice one.
Perhaps I did too good a job? -

while you were at work I nipped round to your gaff and had a Luthier look at your unfinished bass... TADA! NOT SINGLECUT NOW! No, don't thank me... It's *my* pleasure. -

Am I the only one *OUTRAGED* by the laziness of these so called "Luthiers"? Jeez guys if you CAN'T EVEN BE BOTHERED to cut out the top bit you shouldn't even be making basses. I dunno if the idea is to save wear on the teeth of the band-saw, but to be honest the saving on that must be negated by the extra cost of the wood which remains in area which should *CLEARLY* be a gap. I mean maybe you could glue the bit cut out of a single-cut onto another, shorter bit of wood as a top horn, saving on money there? Lazy, just plain lazy. EDIT: Oh before you start, "YES" I *have* tried a single-cut, but I hated it. It was a lefty which (since I'm a dexter) I spun around and changed the strings on. It played really badly. -
Hey Andy. I can't believe you were visiting Newcastle/Dave (Hi Dave ) and didn't call in for a cuppa... I'm sure I could have tempted you with a Warwick!
hah hah well as it happens I could have! I'm off work this week and just trolling around, with lots of spare time, which is *SO* unusual for me. I would have loved to have had another blast through the Thunderfunk (if you still have it ?) I'll drop you a line next time I'm up for sure! ...a cuppa and a go on the TF sounds like an ideal way to spend an hour or so... However as for buying another Warwick, well, hell yeah, you probably could have tempted me with another!
I don't know why any of your are asking when Gremlinandy sends a PM that means it's bought
lol that indeed usually is the case. ...deal done, and desk at mine. It just so happened that I was heading North to Newcastle today, to collect a pair of turbosound subs, ...so seeing this desk last night was a perfect opportunity. Two birds with one stone, and all that. Special thanks to Dave for his patience when, through my own stupidity, I went to the wrong postcode... Doh! Andy

I got my first live rehearsal (rather than the pre into a desk, and amplified via cans) today. It was the Hellborg Pre into a Powersoft 3002, and into 2x schroeder 21012L's. Jeezus begorrah! Are you kidding me, this is the LOUDEST rig in the world. ...Well, ...it has the potential for *much* more, but I stopped way short of maximum because I had such a great sound at a managable volume. Just wait until I'm gigging with the 2x 1515L's under those two... And drive my amp at 2ohms per side, OMG.... Headroom to die for, in even the largest venue. And all at an easily managable size/weight. It just doesn't get much better.

Well I've had it a couple of weeks now. Erm I have to say that the sound is *really* pleasing. It falls short, in my opinion of the DB680 in that it doesn't give a natural tubey compression. It's a typical tranny feel. ...only maxed out to 11. ...and if anything it gives me a growl which the Aggie doesn't. (Which will probably suit more folk out there than the warm - but hi-fi feel of the DB680) The top and bottom of it is that for ease, size *and sound* I will probably gig with the Warwick... But I think I would go back to the DB680 for recording. The 680 still has that *musicality* edge that's hard to define. But the Hellborg is also great. Different, not in a bad way, ...and like the 680 is leagues ahead of the rest. (IMO) I think the live sound of the Hellborg is probably easier to shape than the 680. I find the tone controls on BOTH these units is kinda limited, however, (and this is VERY important), ...since the sound you get by having everything flat, is FRIGGING awesome, you don't need to fanny much. However, I do feel both are less versatile than most bassists will be used to. (That's a hard to explain "good thing", rather than bad...) In summary: The Hellborg is wicked, and is going to become my gig rig pre. I still think the Aggie has a slight edge... in that it's warmer, but I love the slightly harder aggressive sound of the Hellborg.

SOLD - Lexicon MPX G2 and MPX R1 preamp/effects processor
GremlinAndy replied to R,5,R,5...'s topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
If you don't need the preamp functions (which are guitar focussed anyway), Lexicon make other multi effects units in the MPX range which are cheaper. Can you claim the cost of your G2 on insurance at all?
I wouldn't have thought so... I don't have any suitable coverage really. Nah I don't dig on the overdrive stuff so the preamp isn't really a factor... I'll look into the other lex effects ranges. Do you know which are best suited for bass? Or have any recommendations based on experience? Thanks buddy. -
Just completed a sale to Andy for several leads and looms. Extremely friendly and a pleasure to do business with....... Thanks a million mate Max
Thank *you* buddy.

The perfect seller! I just bought a flotilla of different leads (or is the collective term for cables, a "nest" [like vipers] ? ...or in my case a "Knot") ...anyhoo I took a long time to decide which of the many options I wanted, and Max was *very* understanding and great at the comms. The result was a great purchase (very happy with the items! ) and a speedy delivery in possibly the best wrapped parcel I've ever had. My thanks again to Max for being a delight to deal with! (Actually I just remembered three of the cables I bought were "Snake" looms. So I guess the parcel might have been a "Slither" of cables?) ...I'll get mi coat. Andy

SOLD - Lexicon MPX G2 and MPX R1 preamp/effects processor
GremlinAndy replied to R,5,R,5...'s topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Well... After I received this thing I didn't really use it for a while. However when I did, I had difficulty getting it to boot properly. It "failed" 3 out of every 4 attempts... So after getting back in touch with the seller, he said he'd not had any bother with it (hmmmm). I sent it off to Harman which cost a fortune in shipping, PLUS they said they'd fixed the fault and sent it back with a £100+ charge. I used it twice and then it failed to boot again (intermittently) This got worse over the next couple of weeks, as I attempted to practice in the house with it until just recently. And now it is just refusing to boot at all... I have *loved* some of the great effects in there, but this has been "the most expensive gear that has gone kaput on me without me hardly using it " I've ever had. I even bought an R1 foot controller for it which is now surplus... In total that's over £500 in the frikkin bin. Gutted. And yet ironically, I would replace it with another in a heartbeat... Unless someone knows of a more up to date machine which surpasses this? Please help me fill the void. -
You ordered your "spare"? Now that's just showing off! And you'll have to pardon my ignorance, but you "ordered" your spare?? I thought they were discontinued....?
It might seem like showing off I guess, but I'm the kind of guy that when I find a great piece of gear *especially* one that's discontinued, I like to know that I'm not gonna be without it. Even in the event of a pretty catastrophic failure. Discontinued? Indeed they are... But a good scouring of the internet turned up a place which had a new, old stock 680 in stock. Result! This was quite a while ago now, and I can't remember their name, but they were very helpful and superfast delivery... Don't suppose that helps much does it. I just ordered a Jonas Hellborg Pre and am waiting for delivery... Hopefully I'll get it this weekend and be able to tell you whether the 680 is outperforming the *very* expensive Warwick flagship pre... Standby...
Funny, I looked at this, thought "Do I need a second one?" and concluded that nobody could possibly need a second one. I suppose I could keep one for home and one for rehearsals, but it's not like they weigh anything or you need a van to fit them in. I put mine in the glove compartment of my girlfriend's Daihatsu once.* * Nearly.
You're right... Nobody *NEEDS* a second one. However this is my rig: I *am* a mentalist of course... (Someone needs to buy AndyMartin's 1212L quickly, or I'll just add it to my ever expanding "Rig of Ultimate Doom". ...Then you'll be sorry.) -
Ok... well I measured. and it's a bit wider than I need, but that's not a problem. The defining problem is the distance. It wasn't going to be an issue if it didn't fit, and wasn't suitable. But now I have the problem of wanting it, but it being further away than I'm prepared to travel.... (41/2 hours each way from Sheff) So much as it breaks my heart I'm gonna have to pass. Sorry 'bout that. Andy

What a great guy. Honest and helpful. ...I bought a 1990 Status SII from Rich tonight, which was described (I presumed optimistically) as "Pretty well mint". Well frig me with the other end of a rag-mans trumpet if he wasn't telling the truth! It's *BETTER* than I could have hoped. It almost looks like it was delivered straight from Status themselves. ...I've seen worse shop-soiling! ...and this is nearly 20 years old. Thanks again Rich for a top deal, and for making my Status dream come true! Andy.
