All great pointers above but before you launch into a new pre... if you have the block MEC with the trim pot (ringed in blue), have you tried turning that down?

Just seen these; brand new gear at less than used prices!

SOLD ELSEWHERE 1988 Warwick Thumb bass 4 NT

I was under the impression paypal was even higher than 4%? I'm assuming you'd need to take your BC price and add 14%? I've had my eye on a BC bass which is now on ebay and I'm very tempted to message him and point out that I'd do a private sale give him his ebay price minus fees but I know some people don't see the final 'net' sale price. -
Is it worth me trying to sell to you guys in UK?
warwickhunt replied to Chopthebass's topic in Bass Guitars
Looks a lush colour and matching headstock which is win/win... I like the colour but not in the market for a Ray or a 5er! I can't imagine any scenario where you'd get more money for this selling to the UK than you would selling in hometown/county/country. -

warwickhunt replied to Chopthebass's topic in Bass Guitars
Absolutely agree that there is a massive range of desirability in the range and some will certainly be of higher value than others but as a point of reference to the (non-UK) OP, an 'average' Ray can be had at or around the price I stated. Many folks do hold out for a higher/better price and if it is in a nice colour/combo then they might get it but there's equally as many that don't sell. Bringing in commission sales or shop prices takes it to a different place as the OP was talking about selling privately from the States to the UK. -

Sadly you can look through ebay & BC sales and find lots of examples (not just the odd mut) for sale at £850, in fact getting more than £850 would be a result! -

£150 (ish) for shipping + 25-30% taxes + cites (possibly); an average Ray in the UK (not pre EB) is £850 ($1100). You'd need to sell it for approx $600 - $650.... In short, no! -
Shame they didn't reduce the 2x10... I own a pair but at these prices I'd replace old for new.

You pay peanuts, you get... -
TBH once you get into the realms of declared ratings they are written on snakeoil paper by Mickey Mouse. Added to which you could have a 1000w 20lb cab but it might sound cack! OK if you just want to compare numbers but in the real world of limited use... oh I'm an old cynic!

Just seen your bass on ebay! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Godin-A4-LR-Baggs-electric-acoustic-lightweight-hybrid-bass-hard-case-MODDED/303004822118?epid=17027311638&hash=item468c7eaa66:g:pggAAOSwPWtcHQ9r:rk:37:pf:0

I'm sure I recognise this Godin bass as being from this forum. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Godin-A4-LR-Baggs-electric-acoustic-lightweight-hybrid-bass-hard-case-MODDED/303004822118?epid=17027311638&hash=item468c7eaa66:g:pggAAOSwPWtcHQ9r:rk:37:pf:0

I initially thought it was a fake (I ignored the stupid price and his ramblings) but it could well be genuine... not that anyone will be daft enough to pay that price!
-

I've had the same bass (+many others) on a wall hanger (securely fixed) for 26 years and it's done it no harm and that has been in 4 different houses with variations in heating/ventilation.
-
Spot on deal with Cal, no issues... even recommends cracking eateries when your visiting.
-
I've had fingers crossed since I typed that!

I wouldn't think that your bass has a 2 way rod especially with a nut on a threaded rod.
-
You get one and two way rods; 1 way rods counter string tension and takes relief out when you tension/tighten it (tightening is 'usually' clockwise BUT sometimes is counterclockwise). 2 way rods have a mid -point and depending on whether you turn one way or the other it can add/subtract relief. I'm discounting necks with 2 parallel rods. If you know what you are doing and you don't go daft, sometimes you need to apply relief into the neck with pressure before tensioning the truss rod BUT you'll need to be sure which way your rod is operating!
