1. Has there ever been damage to the neck/headstock joint (Not all suffer but a known weak point)?
2.
Beautiful! Just FYI, this bass is a Steamer bass, SSI and SSII did not come in until much later
LOL While I was typing!
3. Nice bass but it's a Streamer not a SSII which is a similar shape but very different bass. Aside from a refret and new nut is the rest of the hardware replacement?
4. Nice. I've been looking for a SSII for a while... unfortunately I'm after an 80's one or I'd have been messaging you! GLWTS
5. I've heard some truly awful, thin/boxy sounding 12's and some thunderous, deep 12's (inc' in that are 2x12's as well). Likewise I've heard flabby 15's and 15's that could shatter glass... and as for TENs! I have to agree that it is pointless generalising because there are as many exceptions to the rule (10's toppy, 15's bottom, 12's middy) as there are obey the rule. It's good fun trying them all out though to come to this conclusion.
6. TBH there have 'probably' been more grumblings about the reliability of the Ampeg PF500 amps as opposed to the Hartke amps, that would have me having 2nd thoughts about the Ampeg as an amp choice! However, you pays your money...
7. Same period and my old 4 string Pro I also had 20mm string spacing (44mm nut width), I was never into slap but when slappers tried it they loved the separation. Oddly it never felt a handful as it was quite shallow in depth.
8.
Same here
Ditto.
9. Rather than start a new thread I thought that I'd add to this. Demeter > TC RS210 cabs working well and made to measure (sorry for the shoyte image)! I have been messing about with EQ settings and tbh as an after thought threw the Leland Sklar shape in... yep that works. I tweaked a bit more treble/presence than his setting as I was liking the 'dark' setting but this may be my default and subsequent tweaks made from there. I have to say it is still a wrench coming away from the Thunderfunk. 10. Guessing this will be gone but I'll throw my hat in the ring as interested (my first bass was one of these... though I don't recall the headstock like that )
11.
I would expect a reasonable discount to buy a bass without the original bag or case...
Conversely some folks make low ball offers for a bass that you might agree to but 'without' the case; leaving you to sell the case to recoup the difference! I've had it happen several times where buyers have said that they use x/y/z brand of case/gigbag and don't want the case that is with the bass, so would I knock off £20-£50 or whatever. Consequently I've got several branded cases off past basses, which have proved useful... for when I buy said brand of bass without a case!
12. Love the use of big rubber feet/pads on the back; other manufacturers take note!
13. Yes I've played a few Maruszczyk basses in the last year and they range from 'helium filled' to very light!
14. I know Dave Wilson personally and his work is second to none! Do you have an accurate weight (I'll be the first of the 'weight challenged' shoulder injured bassists to ask)?
15. Surely it's the 1000th bass made... shouldn't #1 be B000001
16. My Sonus 'Lightwave'
17. I got myself another John but its a Lightwave model and the system fitted doesn't suit my playing style (lots of palm muting). GLWTS
18.
It's the main reason I have a 2 cab rig.
This ^ A pair of 2x10's means if one dies I still have monitor. + I keep a small active Preamp/DI in my leads case
19.
This is a steal! I'm meeting Tom on Tuesday. IF ANYBODY from the north west or north east wants this cab PAY ATTENTION I can get it to Wigan for any guys in the NW. We can make arrangements from that point. I can get it to the North East, on Saturday 12th March, as I am gigging at Steph's in Consett. On that Saturday I can go up the west as far as Penrith, or alternatively go M62/A1 and meet up along that route. Or you can come down to Consett and collect from there. Please though, I will be on a tight-ish schedule on that Saturday. You will have no courier charge, you won't have to wait in for a courier to chuck it over the fence You will, however, have to sort out paying Tom, I want nowt to do with the loot I had a Schro 410BMF, best cab I've ever had, but circs changed and I had to go smaller. Good luck Tom, cracking cab.
Very generous offer, well done that man.
20.
I've taken a rough average of £700 for estimation purposes.
Only 4 basses a week still seems low, I'd have thought 4 a DAY!
21. I'm surprised your figure is as low as £3000 a week... I'd have expected more!
22. Love the look and tone of the Thumb bass but can not for the life of me live with the short top horn and subsequent reach to the first position. Like wise I love the idea of a Ric but the big body and lack of forearm contour makes them a no go for me!
