Love mine, more mwah than either the CS Dolphin Pro I or the USA Musicmans I've had.
My main rig is built around a Tech Soundsystems Black Cat amp. 2 x 500W Valve/digital hybrid. The tone controls are subtle but the amp really lets the individual voice of the bass shine through rather than stamp its character all over the sound. Works for me.
Glad you still have that and that it's working for you. I know what you mean about subtle and also very interactive between the various EQs.
Not exact, but it's somewhere in the region of 8.5-9.0 lbs; my sources vary from site to site...
No worries. Unfortunately the weight of your actual bass (as opposed to manufacturers 'guesstimates') is quite important to me and I've sadly been disappointed in the past by other people's experiences of what constitutes 'light'! Birmingham is a tad far to pop by and try for myself. GLWTS

Oooof cracking price (out of stock mind) and if you were thinking of selling a 'used' RS112 any time soon... don't! -
EBS Fafner 2 Problem... and other hybrid amps.
warwickhunt replied to jrobjumpsship's topic in Amps and Cabs
You may have mis-read the post there my friend. No one said it was a £50-£100 repair, I was suggesting thats how much I'd hope to pay. From talking to a few amp repair companies thats a good couple of hours on the bench. I gave EBS a very detailed description of the fault and judging by the signal path within the amp it could only be a few components that are causing the Valve channel to be faulty. I am certainly a lot more confident with EBS' diagnosis than anyone else's. One amp repair company I spoke to said if I gave them the amp to repair they'd even do the same thing and email EBS for a diagnosis. The seller has no clue what the issue is, he's been happy to use it as a Solid State and just wants something all valve for his studio. Regards the purchase, it would be a trade. With the Fafner standing me about half of what you suggest the going rate for them is used.
Ah, gotcha. If you are paying half the going rate for it then not so bad. -
EBS Fafner 2 Problem... and other hybrid amps.
warwickhunt replied to jrobjumpsship's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thanks for the reply Graham. I dropped EBS Technical a direct email after reading on a few forums that they are incredibly helpful, and they were! (It might be worth dropping them a line yourself. They've been known to supply parts and advice on amps that aren't even in warranty!) They basically said the Fafner 2 has a very low failure rate and is no doubt in need of a small repair to a broken connection on the pc board. I could probably afford to spend £50-£100 repairing it and it would still stand me a lot less than I could get for it on the second hand market. So I think Iam just going to bite the bullet and take the risk!
Who has said it is a £50-£100 repair? If it is EBS I'd be amazed if they have the capability to diagnose an issue from your description, most repairers won't even give you a 'guesstimate' for a repair quote until the amp is on the bench. If the seller thinks it is a simple fix then I'd suggest (were it me it'd be 'insist') that they get it fixed then I'd give them the market value of a fully working used amp. Taking an amp that needs unknown repair is only something that I'd do if it was very cheap. Used these appear on BC for £600 - £700 so I'd be wanting to get the amp for significantly less than that. -
NBD: EBMM Sterling 4H - and question on sparkle finishes
warwickhunt replied to goonieman's topic in Bass Guitars
I have a pair of Sterlings (both x1 pup, one with piezo option) and they have taken over from my Warwicks as my go to bass. Superb QC for a mass produced bass and I've yet to hear of a duffer. -

Time to end the farce of this streamer? Feel so angry......
warwickhunt replied to zawinul's topic in Bass Guitars
I'm ignorant of the 'history' of this bass, the seller or the shop involved but what is the problem with the neck? Is this an early 80's bass with a headstock break that was repaired in the past or is it a truss rod issue... or something else? I have to say that I've owned a couple of NT Streamer fretless basses and none of them had the top end zing/mwah that you get from say a BO bass; a bit like the fact that you get a different slap tone from a NT/BO bass. I'm not saying 'W' fretless basses are naff or you can't get a good fretless sound from them but some folks have a particular 'tone' in their head when they play fretless and maybe you'll never achieve the zingy mwah you want from a Streamer! -

Argos "Click & Collect" Warning!
warwickhunt replied to Grangur's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
This might seem obvious but if Argos don't accept items larger than 1.2m then surely you can't select the C&C service when you put in package dimensions... it seems preposterous that they can simply dispose of an item; send it back/refuse to accept but to bin it! -
whats a good price for a Warwick Streamer fretless bass 1988
warwickhunt replied to zawinul's topic in Bass Guitars
Id say £1500. Because that's how much the one that just went up on BassDirect is you're referring to
If you can get that for a Vintage 'W' you're doing well. -
New Lightwave Saber Basses by Willcox Guitars
warwickhunt replied to TomRichards's topic in Bass Guitars
Are these meant to be 'different' to the original series of Lightwave i.e. built by someone other than Lightwave? Other than the Hexfx they look the same! I've owned one and whilst I found the tone was pretty much up there or better than any trad mag pup system, the bodies were light and ergonomic, the necks however were decidedly average. Not bad in any way but my other basses had better necks. -
How many basses have you bought off the Basschat marketplace?

More than most... not as many as some who shall not be named. -
Musicman Stingray trade for Warwick
warwickhunt replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Why not trade a Warwick for a Stingray? They're equivalent market prices, but very very different experiences playing and sound wise.
Glad you got sorted On the matter of W / MM trade... I suppose the values depend on which model W folks are thinking about. There's a multitude of W basses but only one model of Stingray! -
