1. It'll not be an issue, just be sure that the extra mass of the string doesn't rise to far up the tuner shaft and risk the string not seating fully in the nut.
2.
Buy a DI/Preamp pedal... this whole 'heft' thing is rubbish. Most these guys change heads every year so what do they know?
Hmmm a quick check and I've been using Thunderfunk heads (initially the 550 now the 750) for 9 years. The fact that I've been prepared to try/buy other brands inc multiple Class D amps would probably indicate that I'm qualified to discuss what 'I' hear and note about the amps I've tried.
3. Unsurprisingly I concur with my fellow BCers and I would also suggest the Thunderfunk (I own one NOT for sale) or Handbox; trialled and gigged one... came close to buying one!
4. Playing with 4 different bands this month (some deps, some my own band) which has me learning/remembering a total of 83 'different' songs... it does get to a point where one or two of them (especially the non-riff orientated, repetitive ones) just won't stick in my head. However, a gig is the quickest way to focus the mind and it'll be alright on the night.
5. He says it's a Musicman Sterling... it says it is a Stingray on the headstock... but which one of the licensed copies is it really? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ernie-ball-sterling-music-man-5-string-bass-/131930569224?
6. Bass > Thunderfunk 750 > x2 TC RS210 (stacked/aligned vertically on a Gramma Pad)
7. Odd they have gone 2.7 instead of 5.3 and a shame it is the usual design of, 'cram as many drivers into the smallest surface baffle of a 19" wide cab'! I for one would have preferred to lose a few inches off width and had vertical alignment with maybe a bit more depth. ...but that's just me!
8.
That third semi acoustic bass is a Waterstone Brighton '64 bass.
Agreed, which he tends to use on 'Start'.
9.
...although I am a tad bit surprised to not see him using the Rick as exclusively as he did backaday.
Much of what folks consider to be Ric tone is actually played/recorded on a P bass! He played P basses back in 'The Jam' days, way more than he ever did Rics.
10. *sniff* "Prefer V/V/T myself"
11.
I believe the Honey Violin is a varnish/lacquer. Paint stripper would remove it.
...or not! I had a 'W' Streamer refinished that had a lacquer finish and nitromors and other specialist (non-commercial) strippers wouldn't touch the finish. This work was done by a pro and the only means to get it off was hand sanding. Others on the Warwick forum have had similar tales so it isn't unique to my bass. I'm not saying that the OP is the same finish but I'd not assume that the finish will come off as easy as it might on other basses.
12. Demeter... similarities?
13. Phew, easy pay out it was you mate!
14. I'm going to run a book on when the first one comes up 2nd hand... oddly I reckon it'll sell just as quick as it did new!
15. What's the weight like?
16. Waiting for their suits to light up mind!
17. Good... very good! Whether it be the soundman or recordist each bass has its own space.
18.
Just a thought on Dusty's telecaster bass - does the reverse headstock give a tighter e-string as it has a longer travel to the tuner?
Supposed to but who knows. Is that a Fender or a Bolin / 'House of JB'
19. TBH Foals are mopping the floor re. sound/output (never heard of em g'vnor) BIG fan of ZZ but past prime to be mixing it with young blood.
20. Can only assume he has hand/back/shoulder issues... disappointing but feel for Dusty!
21. ...and our very own WoT appearing on Friday!
22.
The OP quite clearly said he's an antique dealer. I'm sure he can spot a rogue when one comes along.
Of course all antique dealers are the same! However, without wishing to stereotype, I'm guessing that might explain the lack of internet savvy.
