1. Sad the number of shonky Fenders that get plied on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-precision-bass-/201327376006?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ee00bf686
2. Was it one half of the split shaft snapping? I've known two (i.e. I was asked to replace them as I had spares) go in the last 10 years but they were on older instruments. I suppose in the grand scheme of things a handful, even dozens isn't likely to be unheard of as they all take knocks now and again which could weaken them. I've heard of as many other brands where the tuners have stripped etc.
3. Glad he did the right thing... wonder if he was scammed with it?
4. If you accept that ebay offer 'through' ebay you do realise that you'd lose a further 10-15%!
5. So he now knows for sure it isn't genuine... yet he hasn't amended the listing or relisted it!
6. 'german warwick bass and finding it tricky to find the one im looking for'... I thought you were looking for something specific; what you meant was 'cheap'!
7.
It's an Italian-made Melody, 1970s. Jon.
I thought that you might be able to nail it Jon. Surely anyone paying £330+ will have the savvy to know it isn't a Fender... or is a Melody worth £330+
8.
I knew that was coming....
I was just finishing reading the thread before I was going to point that out! BC... BGM... TB... what does it matter, it's all about the bass!
9.
Having had a stack topple over, this is one reason why I never would stack vertically.
That's where personal circumstances will dictate if a vertical stack is needed/viable. I don't play bouncy or unsteady stages nor are there loons who might topple my gear and to me the dispersion 'is' important... hence I stack and am happier with it that way than lower/squat/horizontal.
10.
Ritter R8, 33.3" scale, super slim neck profile, tobacco burst, solid silver oval fret markers. https://ritter-instr..._info.php?i=695 The body is cedar and it has an ebony board. Jens says it sounds like a really nice old jazz bass - just weighs half as much. . .
Could do with a few more bolts in the neck to balance it better.
11.
Is that because we are both wimps In fact, I've got a bass weighing just 5.7lbs arriving tomorrow!
Weight, S/P/SC switching, slimmer neck and down-sized body... what's not to prefer about the Sterling. 5.7 is pretty light, what is it?
12.
Neck is definitely different on a Sterling vs a Ray. Very loosely it's a bit like comparing a P to a J but there are lots of variations (from both brands). Personally I much prefer the Sterling but I'm definitely in a minority here!
Nope I prefer the Sterling to the Ray as well !
13. I used to stack my DB112 cabs on their side which heightened the drivers/tweeter and though it wouldn't withstand someone falling into it, there was sufficient stability that it never budged under normal use. I presently have a pair of TC RS210 cabs and they are even taller/narrower (I stack them vertically aligned as opposed to on their sides) and again this certainly wouldn't stay upright if some loon fell into them but I can't think of a situation where I'd have anyone bimbling around that might knock them. 14. I have to agree with RhysP... what can you get for £400 used; likely as not a better combo.
15. It was in a loft it must be real... NOT!
16. This thread was locked earlier today... IBTL!
17. Anyone suffering from back/neck problems, that needs a light bass... you need this in your life!
18. Thought it was the 10's in the 2nd sample but mildly surprised that I reversed the 15-12... need to go back and listen again. However, pleased that I stuck with my own thoughts/views based upon my experience and didn't go with 'perceptions' of what a 10/12/15 should sound like.
19. I'm part basing mine upon my previous listening to the 15 and 12 TKS cabs, that and the second one sounds most different.
20. 15/10/12... I appear to be the only one!
21.
Love blue basses!
So wish that I did!
22. Can't find confirmation though there appears to be rumours... like this one!
23. A pair of used TC RS cabs (2x10 2x12 or mixed) the vertical stack does all that your 8x10 does at a fraction of the weight and carrying them (individually) is a doddle due to the slim profile. Alternatively TKS cabs.
