1.
Good point. How would this be built into the contract? We could find a dep if one member become sick, what what if something happened which meant that the entire band couldn't play? Does anyone have a clause which says that the band would pay £XXX to the organisers in such event?
Finding a dep is perfectly acceptable. As for building a clause into a contract; I'd have thought that whatever you (the band) would expect in compensation from a client (pub/promoter/bride etc), that would have to be acceptable if roles were reversed.
2. Contracts are a two way thing and using them means that you need to be aware that if you (a band) decide (or have to due to unforeseen circumstances) bail on a gig or booking, would the other party be entitled to remuneration/compensation? Just playing 'Devil's Advocate'!
3.
good god why is it when you post a woman playing bass there must an agenda behind it. i posted it purely on her playing. I'm sure there are many better bassists out there.. i just happen to like her playing.
Why bother posting a vid of 'anyone' playing along note for note with a backing track? My point was that there are thousands (and thousands) of bassists on youtube who are as good/better and the forum would be clogged if we posted vids of all of them; if it was something different/unusual/perfectly executed/inspiring... then I could understand but aside from the fact that she is a very rehearsed and accomplished player she is no better than others. I initially queried as to why pick that particular bassist?
4. Hmmmm. I'm sure there will be dozens of equally good bassists on youtube playing this and more technical pieces with as much/more feeling but you chose this because?
5.
not light enough for you John:-) but out of the 3 I had the lightest by far
6.
not original A NOTE ON THE USE OF ROSEWOOD AND EBONY, SERIAL NUMBER LOCATION, THE USE OF BLACK EPOXY ON PRE-AMPS, BODY CONTOURING & BRIDGES. Although Rosewood was used for fretless Basses, fretted Rosewood was not introduced as an option until very late 1979 (or very early 1980). At the same time fretless Basses changed from Rosewood to Ebony. with the lack of dot markers on the board it looks like this maybe a fretless that has been fretted?
He's aware of the non-originality of the fingerboard/frets but he's not letting on. "From what I can gather the original fretboard was replaced. As the end of the neck is signed LF and dated for Nov 76." (ebay message) However it could explain why a previous winner of this bass on ebay never completed the sale.
7.
owned the bass befoe jdel. Great instrument and rather light
How light is 'rather light'?
8. Even though I know that my Thunderfunk will handle 3 of these cabs (not a TC amp user but mine will go to 2 ohms), I can't imagine a situation where more than two of these would be required (stacked vertically, two will handle anything that I do)!
9. Superb little cabs and had I not just bought a 2nd one (at a higher price than yours), I'd have been on this!
10. LOL I forgot that you had her back!
11. Looks lush, shame you aren't local to give it a try!
12. I've had a couple of loopers and the standard TC Ditto is the easiest and best by far.
13. 8lb is very light for any Jazz sized/shaped bass (even downsized as this), I tried about 6 DJs as I was told they were light and I never found one under 9lb... nice basses mind.
14. I have the very same bass... wouldn't be brave enough to do that! What was the deciding factor for pup placement and did you know what was under the top in that location before you started routing (what is it that gives it that 'resonator' sound)?
15. Make it even thinner by making your slab into two 'wings' to attach to a neck-thru construction. I've got an early 'W' Streamer that is less than 30mm... at the thickest point.
16. I've gone middle ground... Thunderfunk amp and a pair of TC RS210 cabs. The cabs are non-neo yet small/light enough; stacked vertically they have a great throw and are at ear level.
17.
Yes , but if a strange one They are in 5 string size , but are cut for a four string with 19mm string spacing They fit my manson perfectly
You can clearly see they have pole-pieces for a 4 string but the casing size is the EMG 5 string size. Had they been a straight drop in I'd have had them.
18. I was about to PM you and have these till I realised that the 102mm EMG40 is 5 string spacing; the 35 is 4 string and 89mm.
19. I have exactly the same pair of basses and I have nickel flats on both, nice punchy tone BUT the Godin can have a bit of low end 'bloom' on sustained low notes.
20. Just bought a TC RS210 cab (poss a 2nd incoming) and I have to say it has blown me away... quite literally! A pair stacked vertically will win the laws of physics competition but more importantly the drivers are at the same height as an old fashioned stack. You know where I am if you want to give a blast and in the process save your back and knuckles.
21. Bought Gerry's TC RS210 and the deal was as smooth as you like. I paid with direct bank transfer and no issues about trust. Cheers.
