    I think 'watts' are cheaper! We could easily manage with less amp power and/or speaker sensitivity but tech advances means we don't need to make do. 30 years ago I played with drummers as loud as now and I got by with 100-250w... all be it cranked 90% of the time; our 1000w (pub) PA was also always near the limit which isn't as likely these days.

    Yes the difference in gauge, material, construction and even how old strings are makes a difference as they would on a standard bass BUT age of strings seems to have far less impact than on a mag pup bass. I had a good friend around yesterday who is an excellent bassist and 'as you do' he was playing with my various Warwicks and discussing the differences (with particular reference to a Spector Euro comparison). I gave him the Zon to try just before he left... we were there another 20 mins just discussing the quality of tone of the Zon with comparisons to various basses such as piezo loaded Stingrays, Vigier etc. He was blown away with how natural a tone it has, it isn't alien sounding it is NOT a digitised/synth sound; it sounds like a top quality 'normal' bass but with other qualities. A further observation was that the carbon neck patently assists with the sustain and harmonics but it has an authority and depth of tone that some carbon basses don't have. I'm aware that folks might wonder why I'm selling it if it is such a superb instrument, understandable. I'm lucky enough to own a selection of great basses and I just have a 'preference' for my Warwick Streamers (particularly my 5th Anniversary bass) but that doesn't stop me wanting to try other flavours to see if I can find something I prefer more! .

    Join the Warwick forum and ask. I'm unsure about BO 'W' necks but someone will be able to guide you I'm sure... just don't expect an instant response as the turn-over is a lot slower than BC!

    Thanks for the kind words people. Sorry I should have mentioned in the thread that the nut width is 40mm or 1 + 9/16ths in old measures! Nice and slim but rock solid stable (thats carbon for you). I should add that the carbon neck feels no different under the hand than any other finished neck.

A generalisation is that to get double the volume, you'd need TEN times the watts... to be twice as loud as 100w you need to be using 1000w! However, stuff like cab sensitivity etc plays a lot bigger part. I think you've nailed that you just need to establish if your Glock is duff! [/font][/color]

    Your speaker leads aren't out of phase are they? They shouldn't be if they work fine as a pair with the TC but have you tried to swap backwards/forwards to check?

    All the advice is already given above but one thing I would say is that you can't ever compare one amp's volume to another by where (comparatively) you have to turn the dials to! Trace were the classic example of this whereby BANG everything was loud in the first couple of clicks of input/output gain... but after 30-40% of travel you didn't 'really' get much more volume. Conversely, H&K's bassbase range of amps required a lot more input gain to get to where a Trace would be BUT it did get louder once you'd matched/set the input gain correctly.

    Another vote for the [color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]Aria Sinsonido. The fact that the preamp has enough welly to use headphones is a bonus and it is full scale yet light! The body extensions make it really comfortable and 'normal' to play. [/font][/color]
