The body is Swamp Ash faced with Maple. The bass is probably 10 years old (can't recall how to date Zons accurately) but can only be described as immaculate. I've checked the bass over top to bottom and can't find a single ding or dink on the body or neck. Graphite neck has no truss rod to worry about and is ultra stable. Super light weight 7lb 14oz and balances perfectly with no neck dive. If you've not heard of the lightwave system, do a bit of research but essentially the system uses sensors on the bridge as opposed to magnetic pups. You get zero noise (even under lights) and unparalleled harmonics/sustain. You can use any strings on the bass inc nylon as there are no magnetic properties involved; setting up the system for new gauges or materials is a doddle, info available online but I'll supply a print out of factory instructions. Comes with two power supplies (UK and USA), spare Lightwave factory supplied battery (present battery holds charge for at 'least' the minimum 12 hrs of continuous use) and immaculate condition Zon branded case. I would take a trade (always interested in trying new toys) BUT interested parties have to be realistic about respective values; if your bass/amp/cab regularly sells on BC for 'xyz' amount I'm not going to be giving you +50% of that figure... does that seem fair? I'm always interested in old or Ltd Ed Warwick basses, esoteric quality amps (i.e. not Ashdown/Peavey etc.) that I've maybe not owned yet, top quality cabs, Roadworn series P bass, light-weight Musicman Sterling or other interesting basses. Based in the NE but willing to ship at cost in the UK/Europe. Cash on collection or bank transfer not paypal.
2. This is the reason I ask for the actual weight of a bass a seller has; often manufacturers weight can be out by a pound either way... yes potentially 2lb difference between identical basses. I have 4 Warwick Streamers the lightest is 7lb 7oz the heaviest 9lb 3oz and my saga to find a light weight Lakland identified identical model basses that exceeded the 2lb differential.
3. I'm another who'd advocate more speaker displacement over throwing more watts into your existing cab.
4. Yep it is what it says. Also has a replacement nut, extra pot (+ existing pot-hole filled) added poss for 3 band EQ (this would likely have been 2 band EQ in 1990), is it a top mounted output or is it a snapped off pot shaft? I'd ask about the line/potential crack from the 6th tuner. Pups may well be original as Barts were an option and the routing looks correct. Fingerboard is ebony as opposed to usual wenge but this could be a custom order bass due to it being an early sixer.
5. Has there ever been damage to the neck/headstock joint (Not all suffer but a known weak point)?
6.
Beautiful! Just FYI, this bass is a Steamer bass, SSI and SSII did not come in until much later
LOL While I was typing!
7. Nice bass but it's a Streamer not a SSII which is a similar shape but very different bass. Aside from a refret and new nut is the rest of the hardware replacement?
8. Nice. I've been looking for a SSII for a while... unfortunately I'm after an 80's one or I'd have been messaging you! GLWTS
9. I've heard some truly awful, thin/boxy sounding 12's and some thunderous, deep 12's (inc' in that are 2x12's as well). Likewise I've heard flabby 15's and 15's that could shatter glass... and as for TENs! I have to agree that it is pointless generalising because there are as many exceptions to the rule (10's toppy, 15's bottom, 12's middy) as there are obey the rule. It's good fun trying them all out though to come to this conclusion.
10. TBH there have 'probably' been more grumblings about the reliability of the Ampeg PF500 amps as opposed to the Hartke amps, that would have me having 2nd thoughts about the Ampeg as an amp choice! However, you pays your money...
11. Same period and my old 4 string Pro I also had 20mm string spacing (44mm nut width), I was never into slap but when slappers tried it they loved the separation. Oddly it never felt a handful as it was quite shallow in depth.
12.
Same here
Ditto.
13. Superb amps and a decent price. Where are you based?
14. Rather than start a new thread I thought that I'd add to this. Demeter > TC RS210 cabs working well and made to measure (sorry for the shoyte image)! I have been messing about with EQ settings and tbh as an after thought threw the Leland Sklar shape in... yep that works. I tweaked a bit more treble/presence than his setting as I was liking the 'dark' setting but this may be my default and subsequent tweaks made from there. I have to say it is still a wrench coming away from the Thunderfunk. 15. Guessing this will be gone but I'll throw my hat in the ring as interested (my first bass was one of these... though I don't recall the headstock like that )
16.
I would expect a reasonable discount to buy a bass without the original bag or case...
Conversely some folks make low ball offers for a bass that you might agree to but 'without' the case; leaving you to sell the case to recoup the difference! I've had it happen several times where buyers have said that they use x/y/z brand of case/gigbag and don't want the case that is with the bass, so would I knock off £20-£50 or whatever. Consequently I've got several branded cases off past basses, which have proved useful... for when I buy said brand of bass without a case!
17. Love the use of big rubber feet/pads on the back; other manufacturers take note!
18. 2-Tek bridges real quality but rare as!
19. Yes I've played a few Maruszczyk basses in the last year and they range from 'helium filled' to very light!
20. I know Dave Wilson personally and his work is second to none! Do you have an accurate weight (I'll be the first of the 'weight challenged' shoulder injured bassists to ask)?
21. Surely it's the 1000th bass made... shouldn't #1 be B000001
22. My Sonus 'Lightwave'
23. I got myself another John but its a Lightwave model and the system fitted doesn't suit my playing style (lots of palm muting). GLWTS
24. You always have some cracking basses!
