I owned a Super Jazz and I adapted to the fanned frets in minutes (35 years playing 'normal' 4's)... though I never used the dusty end! Oddly enough I can't say that I noticed a night/day difference in playability, string tension or tone but it was a superb instrument in its own right regardless.

Did you get my PM re. Dolphin fretless 4?

How much do warwicks make now? SS1 in Yorkshire
warwickhunt replied to LukeFRC's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The one in my avatar is a 2005 SS1. According to Warwick it's swamp ash.
Another classic Warwick customer response! Your bass is without a shadow of doubt a Maple bass it is NOT Ash of any form. -
Probably another Dumbass Question! Aguilar DB112
warwickhunt replied to Thor's topic in Amps and Cabs
If you have back problems then in my opinion you are looking at the wrong gear; very good and great sounding gear, but wrong because it is very heavy gear. But I guess if you think that the weight of that amp is doable then the cabs will be OK. Get a good trolley.
+1 If you can hump the DB750 about, carrying a DB112 is about the same. I owned a pair of DB112's (one with tweeter, one sans) and I'd carry them short distances one in each hand BUT not too far as they are weighty as a pair. I always took two everywhere (gig and rehearsal), hence elected to buy a Berg AE212 which isn't much heavier than a single DB112 but narrower with a pair of handles... result. As a general rule, if it was mare than a few yards, I'd pick the DB112 up with the handle and then cradled it with both arms to carry, it's also not easiest to carry by the handle when going through doorways. Still miss the tone of the Aggies though and would have a pair back tomorrow. No fear with the handle strength though, they are well constructed/fitted and shouldn't cause any concerns. -
Yes the angled wedge is (an extreme) version of the tilt that I would find beneficial but the angled baffle means I still have a horizontal surface to sit my amp.
I was sure if the bass was in a hard case then its covered by PF but they don't usually take it if its not in a case. I once has a musician bass delivered to me in a padded guitar bag with no tape or nothing just a postal sticker on it and it arrived in good nick but he was lucky LOL
Nope, PF don't insure musical instruments... well documented on Basschat and in the small print of their T&C.
I live in N.Ireland and have posted and received quite a few basses from England and its typically about a fiver or so more via parcel force so not too bad. ...
ParcelForce will save me money, so I'd knock a tenner off... but be aware the bass wouldn't be insured! PF don't insure musical instruments hence I'd not use them, unless you wanted to save that tenner and take the chance!

I think the only problem with this talk of insurance is that you'd never truly be able to 'test' the T&C until you have an issue! I am aware from first hand experience that guitars/basses shipped via PF in the UK are not covered by insurance EVEN when you specifically pay an extra premium to cover the value AND you tell them it is a guitar.
Something like that you mean - http://www.mediafire...47i1q1ejv21bd3t
Possibly but I was thinking more along the lines of the whole baffle from top to bottom being angled back. If you had a cab with a pair of twelves vertically stacked (NOT off-set please), the cab might be about 30" and the top of the baffle could be set back 6". I say not off-set as that means you have the top driver closer to ear level, more importantly the cab width would be easy to manoeuvre through doorways. The volume could be gained by making the cab a smidgen deeper. I presently use a Berg AE212 and I think the aforementioned design changes would improve an already good cab.

Love the idea of a 2x12 with vintage/coloured voicing but I'd want it to have an angled baffle; can't this be done but maintaining the 'external' casing as a rectangular prism? A cutaway in the top edge could be applied if the baffle angled back to the point where it might impede sound dispersion to the players ears but not so deep as to mean a standard flightcase wouldn't sit. .

I thought USPS had a maximum length restriction? I'm sure I've looked into it in the past and with neck on, in a case, with box, it exceeded their max dimensions... they could have amended it of late mind.

Your worst fears are correct Col, you will be liable for taxes (as will the recipient of your bass)! I've read (but have no proof) of folks that have allegedly sent items with returns coming back BUT the onus would be on you to get this sorted in advance and you'd need to 'prove' that it wasn't a trade or purchase. I was involved in a Warwick promotion and sending a preamp to the States (and back) had me paying taxes even though it went from me and back to me!

Doesn't deserve to sell that for the glaringly obvious mistake this time!

Warwick FNA Jazzman, is this a LTD Series
warwickhunt replied to KennysFord's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Nothing 'ltd' about that bass at all! I recently saw a SSI advertised similarly as a 2002 'Anniversary' model (i.e. 20 years after they started) but it was NOT in any way limited... it was simply produced 20 years after their first one! -
I think you should swap your Aggies for something like... ooooh possibly... maybe a... Bergantino AE2x12! What's that you say, 'who would have one of those'... why yes I do have.

Banks charge £20-£30 but who in their right mind trusts a complete stranger in another country to just send a wedge of cash to them? Paypal/eBay have had that little money-spinner going for quite a while now.
Maybe she took my advice and ended it early, if it didn't looked like she wasn't going to get a decent price for it. I said that, even in the manky condition that it was in, it was worth £500. Given a clean and a set of strings up to £700. She seemed, from the emails I recieved, that she just genuinely didn't have a clue.
Well that'll have shot any BCer in the foot who was hoping to snag a JV on the cheap (and take the chance of it being fecked)!
.... would the seller tell potential buyers 'not to go mad with the bidding'? I think not.
Reverse psychology... the oldest trick in the book; added to which, if it does turn out to have problems, the seller can clearly show ebay that he tried to highlight to potential buyers that it had 'issues'! Not saying this is the case BUT his back is well and truly covered when/if greedy gits still end up bidding hundreds on this in the hope it is a hidden treasure!

Tom Peterrsonn back on Hamer 12-string bass
warwickhunt replied to 12stringbassist's topic in Bass Guitars
If the soundclips are of TP then YES we defo do! -
PRIMA LPR600 Fully functioning, no issues what-so-ever. We have moved into this house and the dishwasher was already in situ, there are only two of us so the dishwasher is taking up valuable space rather than being of huge use! Collection only from Blyth, Northumberland and you will need to disconnect and remove it from the kitchen (without damaging the unit it is built in). It is however... FREE

I bought this Streamer as I was so taken with the bolt-on Dolphin Pro II that I have (I've owned NT Pro I basses and always considered BO to be inferior... WRONG). It has more snap/attack than the SSI basses I have BUT I can't get away with the chunkier neck! The neck will suit those who don't want the skinny necks on some Warwicks, possibly those who like a P profile rather than a J. All electrics are first class and the neck is true with no issues. Overall condition is good/excellent with one scratch on the upper horn. Supplied with Fender straplocks (inc' strap fittings). Price includes UK shipping in a generic hardcase. Not wanting to trade for a bass but a couple of Aguilar DB12 cabs would be of interest.
