1. Lovely looking bass but not 'totally' original... the battery compartment is a replacement.
2. I've always done amp - cab A / amp - cab b (using two outputs on the amp if it has it); reason being that if one of the speaker leads goes faulty I still have one cab running. Whereas if connected amp - cab A - cab B and the lead to cab A dies you have zero output to either cab.
3. The spec says that the drivers are no longer Eminence!
4. Mine all mine!
5.
Doesn't surprise me with Warwick . I love the guitars but as a company they really are some money grabbing sh*ts!
They weren't always thus! 20 years or so ago I contacted them direct re. a grub screw from the nut; got a whole new nut assembly days later for free.
6. Can't comment on a replacement for the DB750 (far too personal a choice) but I can say that a pair of DB112 punch way above their size; one on it's own is... OK but a pair seems to be greater than the sum of the parts, I went from a Tech Soundsystems 6x10 (1200w cab) to the x2 112 Aggies and they fattened up way before the 6x10 which didn't come into its own until you were at silly volumes; by which time you really should be letting the PA do the work.
7. Just sold my Lightwave Sabre to Ray and it was seamless from him depositing the money in my account to his feedback about how much he was enjoying the bass. A good start to Ray's BC GAS!
8. Every band should follow Cheap Trick's example and write an end of night song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tA_WUg9dQww
9. What's the weight on the Dolphin?
10. Do you have an idea of a price for the cab on its own?
11. Ooops it was less than £900... £770 (though it was a fretless!). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warwick-Streamer-Stage-2-lovely-4-string-fretless-bass-in-great-condition-/181577946761?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2a46e39689
12. My present insurer is likely as yours and wanted me to put a price on for which they will then levy a premium; higher the value... higher the premium BUT in the event of a claim, they likely will argue if you place too high a value on it. I'd not worry too much about it being from a good period or better than a new one etc, as 99% of Warwick basses have little if any difference in value due to their age. I've known early 80's Streamers go for less than 2000 era models and if you want a high value to tell insurance just look at the price of a new one! I know of at least one late 80's SSII that is for sale at £1100 and I saw one sell on ebay 2-3 month ago for £900. Personally I'd tell insurer £1000-£1500 as the top figure will secure you a used one easily and the bottom figure is what you can find them for if you look... alternatively, insure it for what you paid for it.
13. Greece... £1175... £80 postage... I'd not worry! I like that colour and had it been UK, right price... and legit, then I'd have been sniffing.
14. This genuinely could be passed off as 'new'!
15. Epiphone Thunderbird Bass with fitted gigbag + stand 'As new' condition, not a mark on the bass anywhere and still has the protective film on the back plate. Taken as part trade against a bass that I sold but I'm unlikely to use this any time soon (was an option for a UFO tribute band) so may as well go. Ritter gigbag is specific T'bird shaped and the guitar stand is included! Located NE willing to ship at buyers expense. 16. Bump
17. Yamaha gear is very good value for money, so no prob there. One point of note is that if you buy a powered mixer you will find it more difficult to 'upgrade'; sep' amp and mixer means you can upgrade either as and when. Don't forget to look at powered speakers and a passive (no in built power amp) desk. Go for the most power, greatest no. inputs, largest speaker you can (assuming you are looking at same spec/quality speakers... top quality small speaker will be better than poor large dia driver). Are you going to buy new or used? If you have the cash for used, you'll get loads more for your money. I'm not plugging BUT if you wanted a starter package to see how it goes, I have a 12 channel mixer (built in effects) and 900w power amp (450w per side into 4 ohms) you could start with for about the same money you'd pay to hire a PA for ONE pub gig (just add your own speakers). Good luck either way.
18. £450 + delivery cost. Just established that this is in fact an 'SA' model which predates the present models and has the hollow body of the later VL with the rosewood neck of the SL. A vid by the Bass Whisperer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDeov9S5AEo ...and a pic of the hand-signed control cavity (note the comments
19. With that avatar you wouldn't (also) be in Blyth?
This really is a special bass, I should know and would love it back! Well worth the asking price.
I thought it looked like one of mine!
22. So tempted to get one of these and mod it with a 2nd 'bridge' pup!
23. Are there 4 pots and are the circuits attached to the pots (how deep are they)?
24. Was about to say that is a ridiculous price for such a rare bass, then I noted the bow! Still fixable by a competent luthier at a reasonable cost so worth a punt I'd have said.
25.
Ah thanks! I have only post 2000 basses and so far seem to be OK. What fails in the jack?
The whole socket is a sealed unit and it goes intermittent which just gets worse.
