[/quote] I've owned (cough) ...a few Warwicks and I have to say that without exception each and everyone has either arrived with a dodgy socket or it has developed a fault (and no it is not my lead/me). The caveat being that I've not owned many post 00's basses but the socket issue isn't as a result of the basses I have had being ancient because I once ordered three new sockets direct from Warwick and they failed within a few years; fitted Soundcraft units and they are still going strong (inc' one that I have had for 20+ years: original socket failed 2 years after manufacture, replacement Soundcraft still going strong).

I've never heard anyone complain before of the fit and finish of Warwick basses, regardless of era. They may well have come and gone in fashion and the various efforts to improve the nut have been ludicrous (we won't mention the jack sockets ) and the neck profiles are certainly a marmite thing but construction wise I've always found them spot on with no shonky woodwork/necks etc.

Also sits in my top 3 amp list!

Google Calendar - all can share and members are told to block out other band commitments or family events/holidays etc. If it isn't in the diary then it is fair game to take a booking, saves ringing around everyone to see who is/is not available. First in gets it - you can't go jiggling gigs around and cancelling/rearranging gigs to suit individuals or for the better paid gig... that way madness lies!

I agree that it's a chancer who's bought a JV neck plate off ebay/web. I also loved the part about no parts changed; Yeh because JVs came with SD pups and modern bridges! What a plonker.

[/quote] Auction houses take stock from various sources and whatever is in-house when their sale date comes around gets sold. The racks, forklifts and other stuff is likely as not from various sources rather than one but saying that you'd need all of that stuff if it was from Peavey/TE distributor or whatever. I don't see it all being duff/returns/repairs as there are pages of stuff like pallets of Peavey drivers, horns, empty cabs, components etc.

Who knows for sure these are returns/seconds stock? As for not being bargains; if you get it for 50% of the new price (factoring in the 41% premium/tax) then how can it not be a bargain? [size=4] [/size]

No matter if it is new/used/returns, you can bet this will 'in the short term' knock some 2nd hand values on BC/ebay etc. In fact I'd be frankly amazed if a fair chunk of it ended up being resold on BC!

I wouldn't say it is better than all of the Warwicks that I have owned (...cos that's an awful lot of Warwicks) but I will be keeping my Pro II in preference to a lot/most other basses and oddly enough it is the cheapest Warwick that I have ever owned! As to the jazz tone question; probably not. The rear pup is so far back on the Pro II that you can't reproduce the Jazz tone but the tone it does produce is great and is just 'Pro II' tone!

I own a (black) Pro II and mine has silver hardware, so another colour option for you. The serial number is on the top/end of the headstock! I can't say I've ever seen an unfinished/natural bodied Pro II which leads me to think they are generally solid/burst colours for a reason...unattractive wood selection. Be aware that it is an absolute bugga to get some of the solid colours off Warwick basses and Nitromorse rarely shifts it.

You need to put this in the correct section mate otherwise you'll get a slapped wrist!
