Warwick Streamer Stage II ('87) *SOLD*
warwickhunt replied to warwickhunt's topic in Basses For Sale
Oh John, if only I knew you had this in the stable, things might have gone so differently last time...yet another bass in your possession that I 'have' to have (that and your Infinette) In fact, one of the main reasons I joined BC, yet all these years its alluded me. Mental torture I tell you...
I hadn't realised when you bought my JD Thumb how much my house downsize would affect my little collection and mean that I'd need to sell the SSI, SSII and 'possibly' even my Infinette (though that is a last resort and it'd be serious money to persuade me to sell it)! -

I have a 550w amp and regardless of situation I am never pushing it very hard but it is also dependent upon speaker sensitivity (mine are pretty good). Can't imagine a situation where I'd need more power but then again I'd be having words with band members/sound guy if I was having to use more volume on stage/FOH than I am at present.

This bass has a superb tone; which I could either attribute to the harder maple that they used on these earlier all maple Stage I's or (arguably) the gloss finish. Either way it has a lovley thick but clear, piano like tone. I originally bought this bass back in 92 and it was my only/main bass for many years. I did trade it back in the late early 00's at Howard's Bass Place and it actually ended up with a fellow BCer whom I got it back from and I am only selling it now as I have bought another similar age/tone SSI which is just a bit lighter than this and fits my weight needs better. As I have downsized house and rationalising my collection I am selling this, a Stage II bass and 'possibly' my 1991 Infinette. I can organise a courier at cost (£35 with insurance) or you can do so yourself but I'd be happier having someone collect. Sorry, no offers on the price and though I am not keen to take a part-ex, I will so long as it is priced such that I can sell it on here straightaway for whatever price you value it at. If I think that a bass offered wouldn't realistically sell quickly on here at your price, please don't be offended if I decline your offer (not intending to be rude).

Bassist that I replaced in my band has one (bought at full price) and is so impressed he has gone back and bought one in this sale as a back-up; he's a BCer so he may well chip in.

I'm the one trying to ride a DB and playing Wah-Wah effects on a Wal... I do know what to do with a bass really!

You can end early if you sell to the highest bidder... which sounds like he has done but with no intention of going through with it. He patently couldn't end the listing in the last 12 hrs as it had bids on, so he has likely assumed that would be easiest but saying that he could have ended it because it was no longer available. Strange one that. However, if you have an invoice and pay officially through paypal he will be charged the ebay fees; he won't sell you it so you will get a refund and he won't have to pay the paypal fees.
-
Did you actually place the final winning bid or did he end the listing early? If you 'won' the auction then you are within your rights to pay via paypal and demand he sell it (99% certain he won't let you have it), if he doesn't complete the deal then you get a full refund and can neg him. However, if you don't pay I don't think you can leave negative feedback.

Now this is how to photograph and describe a bass!
warwickhunt replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
He's not a happy bunny... his description may be longer but none of it about the bass! I wonder if that is because his previous bidder doesn't think the item is as described? £1500 is a decent enough approximation of value, I don't think that you have undervalued it at that price. I'd suggest putting it up at that and the market response will tell you if it is too much and you can adjust accordingly.

Nice one. Is there a 212 there and/or a pair of those 12's?

If the electronics are standard (not saying that all early 90's would be especially on a NAMM/custom model), it should be 2 band EQ with a vol and pan pot. I've never encountered a Jazz style 2 pup system on a Warwick that would have TWO push pulls (the Dolphin among others has two but one is active/passive and the other is for a coil tap on the rear double/triple coil pup). Do both pots do something or is it a case of someone fitting a push/pull pot because they had nothing else available or they had taken the preamp/pots from another bass? -
The BBE sounds great (I have owned one) but... and this is a very individual thing, I found the background noise level just a smidgen too high. I will confess that I expect almost silence when not in use and I've known other bassists have no problem with levels of noise which I have found unacceptable added to which when in use you do not hear the noise at all.
Great guitar and price. Paul in the Quireboys sometimes gigs his instead of his Gibson.
Yes Paul and I went to school together (still see him 'infrequently' when he pops back ooop North) and I recall seeing various pics and vids of him with various 'Vintage' guitars.
I suspect it's really Hot Slag, but adding an 's' might work for you as it did for the motor industry. I don't need more gear right now, but that's a great price.
Cheers.
