1. I liked the idea that yours had a pro mod that reduced hum, especially as I hate any extraneous noise. Added to which, amp/case/cab/pad/cables made a neat package at the right price.
2. Spent two days justifying owning an amp and cab I don't need... at the minute; you snooze, you lose! If by any chance the Fafner sale falls through, let me know.
3. I've fancied one of the CT basses for a long time. Would you say/know if the main tonal difference was the pup spacing or the centre block?
4. Fretting a fretless is perfectly straightforward and any 'luthier' will be able to do it (as opposed to local lads that can set-up basses but don't have the right tools to properly fret a neck). Bridges generally have enough adjustment (harder to get a bass down for fretless than up for fretted) and manufacturers will have one bridge for their models whether fretted or fretless. If it needs to be jiggled you can always find ways to do it (shims etc). Price as RATM said is about right with extra work adding to the cost. I'm North so know nobody in your neck of the woods.
5.
Is this bass still to get ?
...in fact. I've got an acoustic fretless which I am going to use rather than this (I'm playing in an acoustic quartet sans drums) so it is still available.
6. This very swiftly got my attention, especially as I spotted it was a NT and NOT an LX... then it dawned on me! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SALE-Warwick-streamer-LX-5-string-complete-GOLD-hardware-original-/151380441605?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item233efa3a05
7. I'm sure you'll have sussed from the other posters but at the volumes you are discussing, reproducing a low B is no big deal for a reasonable quality combo and tbh the speaker size is of relatively little import though you may find that of the 'budget' manufacturers that yes maybe slightly larger is better than a dinky 8" BUT it isn't a given that 15" (shyte) speaker will be better than 10" (average) speaker. £200 'used' will get you something with a bit of headroom which you may find yourself in need of sooner than you think and they all come with the special feature of a VOLUME control which goes down as well as up... not that guitarists realise this!
8. Oddly enough it is withdrawn and not the usual pulled by ebay (which you can't access and they disappear completely). It looks like the account holder that was hacked is back on the game and spotted it. It'll be back up again soon though.
9. Washburn AB series are good and in your budget used. I've owned the more expensive AB40 but actually prefer the AB20 that I have now.
10. ...you report this it reappears BUT reporting it as fraud doesn't now get it pulled. I've reported this actual listing 3 times in the last week as has a friend, we've reported it as fraudulent but nothing has happened. However, I've just reported it for avoiding ebay fees; let's see how quickly they pull it now. 11.
Trades?
Probably unlikely that I'd want to keep any bass traded (as I am trying to clear a few out) but if it was such that I could reasonably expect to put the trade straight back on BC and get the price that was traded, then maybe. I'm not trying to be hard-nosed as I'd be very open about trade values but in the past I've had people wanting to trade and expecting to get WAY above realistic values, knowing that there instrument wouldn't/couldn't sell at that price in a month of Sundays! LOL In short though... hit me up. <edit> One bass I might have considered was a Sadowsky (or similar quality) Precision bodied bass with PJ or possibly even JJ pups! Other than that nothing... that I can think of!
12. It was suggested that I add fresh photos but seeing as how the bass hasn't been played since I took those ones...
13. I had the Akai Headrush which was limited (slightly) by the limited loop time and though it wasn't complicated to use the replacement Ditto that I got is more my thing. Mine is intended as a live tool with an 'unplugged' acoustic band, with me looping some percussion played on the acoustic bass, with everyone playing at a consistent volume it is great... but if band members can't monitor/hear it then there is potential for time slippage. The other use is a practice tool; lay down a line then improvise over it OR as a creative tool for generating new ideas.
14. I appear to playing solely fretless these days so I am having dot markers put where they 'should be' on a fretless.
15. Well I can sell you a SSI and a Sterling! LOL
16.
....and get a second hand SSI
...this!
17. There's a Spector Euro (PJ) for sale on this very forum for £600 (or less if you collect)... in your budget and well worth a punt as you'd be able to resell for as much/more than it is at present (couple little fixes and it is worth £700).
18.
By looks of it, that Thumb is earlier than a '92 model. You can identify the year of production by the last two digits of the serial number.
Dot inlays, separate battery compartment and non-recessed control cavity... agree!
19. You're on to a loser in respect of a simple answer re neck sizes mate; Warwick necks vary all over the place from year/era and model. Generally... the earliest basses (80's) had the slimmest necks but one thing to note is that the main variation isn't in width it is in depth and profile. Best thing to do is go out and try a few. Unsure where in the UK you are but I have a few you can try (NE).
20. Nope, nothing 'off the shelf' that I am aware of, which would be short scale.
21.
Sad news: I've sold one of my S112s Happy news: Another TKS cab will be heading my way in a couple of weeks
Upgrading to the 2x12 to add to the 1x12 for those 'prestige' gigs?
22. Folks have mentioned Warwick Streamer LXs but you could find a pukka used SSI for under £1k, which is frankly a steal.
23. At a glance they don't look like bad prices but unsure as to where the country of origin will be (unless I missed it on his site).
24. I sold a Warwick Streamer on ebay a while back with a very low start price and hadn't accounted for the fact that ebay fees had gone up to 10% + the buyer paid via paypal... it really REALLY hurt and I learned a valuable lesson.
25.
Now on the 'Bay! http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e8f18f70e
You do realise that if your bass sells on ebay for the start price you'll end up with about £500 net after ebay and paypal fees... just saying!
