[/quote] However, playing Devil's Advocate... it is a Ctach 22 situation because even if your gear is PAT tested professionally and it causes damage or injury, you have no come back on the tester nor can you hold them liable, as the 'pass' is only valid on the day that it was done. A friend does PAT testing and the company he works for are not liable for any come back if anything happens post test; the test just checks that it is OK 'then', you may well tinker or break something moments after the test hence they are not liable (and that is their get out clause). I'm not saying it is an excuse to not PAT test (especially if you want club/corporate work) but theoretically (though bookers/organisers might not see it that way because it is all about doting the i and crossing the t), if you have the equipment and a basic instruction in PAT testing then your equipment is 'tested' whether you are qualified or not.

I didn't realise that I actually liked a coloured/biased sound until I tried a whole bunch of cabs inc' BF and came to the conclusion that what I have liked about some cabs is 'probably' the way they influence what I want to hear coming out of the cab. The sound I want to hear (and I'm not talking distorted 'mush') isn't generally achievable with BF and most Neo loaded cabs, hence I have gone for ceramic loaded cabs, most recently Aguilar DBs. Ironically I presently use a Neo loaded Berg AE2x12 for it's portability and 'one-cab' solution BUT I have needed to EQ my amp quite a bit to get close to the sound I want, which I have never had to do with the Aggies and even then I am only 95% happy with my present tone over my previous pair of ceramic 1x12's.

I have been through a similar thought process to the OP but the killer for me is that chuffin great big horrible flat slab of wood that they call a Jazz body! I seriously can not get used to that big lump of wood over the lovely diminutive comfort that is a Streamer body. I own a SSII (up for sale actually) and I can categorically say that it can NOT be made to sound like a Jazz even with the preamp bypassed (mine is an 87 and you don't have the push/pull option which came in during very early 90's but there is no exact date/science with Warwick), which I have had on previous SSII basses. If you want the Jazz sound you need to buy a Jazz... unfortunately!

[/quote] How can the the issues with the bass be a moot point? Surely the issues with the bass are ALL that matters! Regardless of what I feel about the buyer/seller, the situation as it 'appears' on TB or of AC basses in general, the 'fact' is that the bass is a poor specimen of an instrument regardless of builder or price point and that isn't subjective. Any way, I'm sure like many I have reached my own conclusions based upon what I have seen, read and debated and I'll leave this be for now.

Can you (would you) unbolt the neck from the body? If so you can easily slash the carriage costs, length of package being the killer when costing to the USA.

Regardless of whether he wants collection only, any seller has to accept paypal as a valid form of payment. You'd have to be a twazzer to pay by paypal and then go and collect but it has to be an option open to the buyer.
