My Thunderfunk is flat 95% of the time BUT I do use the 'timbre' and 'enhance' dials which are to all intents are EQ controls but they again tweaked left/right by small increments depending on the room. However, I do tend to play with my instrument 'active' bass/treble controls boosted (effectively a mid-cut I suppose).

Far better to err on the side of caution and be very wary of anyone claiming to not be an expert (in fact as soon as I read those words my default mode is that they are trying to pull a fast one... that and it was found in a loft/belongs to a friend etc.) than to get stiffed and try and complain after.

The classic 'I don't know what it is' marketing ploy! P L EASE... if you have a chuffin expensive musical instrument in the back of your cupboard that you have owned for a couple of years then of course you know what it is! IMHO he's hoping that some gullible inexperienced player/investor will think this is a genuine 62 and that they are stealing it from under the nose of a witless novice.

The Zons that I owned were far more 'organic' sounding than any other graphite neck bass I've ever played... not to say you still wouldn't like them though.

I've owned 3 Sonus (USA) and I'd happily buy any of them back tomorrow!

I have a KORG Pandora in my case (bought 'used' for peanuts, for this exact scenario) to use as a back-up preamp in the event of amp failure but tbh I'm surprised the DI box didn't do the job.

For some years I've used some of the styofoam that came as packing for a PC as an insulator (same four bits have been in my bag for ages) but it's primary function was to lift the amp clear of a handle mounted on the face that was on the top of the cab... I'm sure that is all you'd need.

Why demo the different characteristics of a sliding pup system and then change your right hand picking/plucking style to match? I know that the front 'mudbucker' position will likely sound dubbier but there's no need to play it thumb mute style and then slide to back pup and suddenly start playing finger parping style... in the middle, change to a different right hand finger style. Play them all the same finger style ya twonk Andy then we can hear what the difference is! [size=4] [/size]

As a sufferer of back/neck/shoulder injuries, I'll add a couple of words of advice;[list] [*]There is no such thing as a average weight for any model of bass (Lakkie DJ case in point; previous poster had one sub 8lb... I owned one close to 10lb). [*]NEVER under any circumstances accept 'the bathroom scales' as an accurate measuring device, regardless of method used with them. [*]When some one assures you that a bass is the 'lightest they have owned', query 'exactly' how many they have owned! [size=4] [/size] [/list]

I'm not saying all Jazz style basses are likely to be heavy (I had a USA Sadowsky Jazz that was insanely light, though it was reduced in overall dimensions in comparison to a Fender Jazz) BUT [size=4]it requires a fair sized piece of wood to make a Jazz bass body, so [/size][size=4]unless it is very high grade Swamp Ash I doubt it'd come in under 9lb, which is my target weight to get under for any average/light bass. [/size] [size=4]Tone and playability I can't comment on as Nordstrand isn't a make I've tried as yet (though my Sado had Nordy pups in it). The price looks on the high side for a used instrument, I'd expect to pay less on here or from a non-retailer. [/size]

TBH there are UK ebay sellers knocking out whole kits for less than some overseas retailers of the body only... no-brainer to have a punt on one but I'd not expect hardware and electrics to be anything worth shouting about but you pays your money!

If you suffer back/neck problems and need a light bass I'd seriously consider an Aria Sinsonidia (may be too many 'i' or 'a' in the spelling). They do literally weigh nothing and have a decent tone... probably not best suited to a 'ROCK' band but saying that I used mine once in my rock covers band and it sounded great with a few raised eyebrows... and compliments later in the evening!

I tried getting bookings at a couple of new venues for my covers band this weekend and despite being there in person with diary to hand, I was told to contact them through FB with the band FB page/account. I asked why FB and was told it was a very quick easy reference for the venue to see what sort of band we were and if we had any kind of following (pint glasses in hands for the venue)! As it happens we have a FB page but a bit sad that the number of band friends that 'like' a band page could dictate who gets a gig... no guarantee of quality, just of lots of friends clued up re. social media.

Ultimately if you have to post any bass you should prepare for the worst and assume your package will be dropped (several times... quite violently) so a case inside of a thick cardboard box but you can make it just as protected by layers of bubble wrap. gigbag and the most important; a cycle box from Halfords (or even two if you can get them to fit inside each other)!
