Mesa Strategy 400. £499 o.n.o
warwickhunt replied to badassfenderbass5's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Mesa Boogie Strategy 400 (2x 200 Watts) 4U Rack power amp for sale...as portable as an anvil but speaks with 'authority'! Have owned for past 7 years and never had any problems with it. Used it with an Alembic F-1X preamp (also for sale) for true valve tone. Have moved over to Eden WT800B for authentic 'Gospel' flavour and have WT1000 and Nemesis NA-650 too! Will sell for fair price...what am I bid?
Sorry mate it doesn't work like that on here. You put a price on and folks decide if they want to pay that or haggle you down. Either that or it gets pulled by the Mods! -
Shame you aren't further North, you could have tried my Super-Jazz 4... and it's for sale! Without wanting this to sound like sales pitch, they are a fabulous bass and the fanned fretting takes ZERO getting used to and as has been pointed out it actually makes playing/fretting/chording easier. The sound is everything you'd expect from a trad Jazz and then some (should have mentioned mine is passive); I've played active basses exclusively for almost 20 years and I thought that the Dingwall would be lacking in top end tone but in fact it lacks nothing. For me the ease of playability just as a bass (excluding the fanned frets) doesn't get mentioned enough; slightly downsized Jazz body, beautiful slim neck but with enough too it that it doesn't feel flimsy with a lovely satin finish, also silly things like the nice rounded finish to the pups which makes finger/thumb anchor a pleasure. So why am I getting rid of mine if they are such fabulous basses... I'm going back to an old Streamer which is a shape and feel I played for many years and just can't get away from.

You can defo get a 4 way rotary as my Dingwall is fitted with one.
Lovely bass, what is the top made out of?

Its an alder core with a top and back of ash. The colour is crimsonburst & I believe one of the reason its darker at the edges is to hide the join.
I think Jelly could equally be asking the OP. In which case it is flame/quilt maple.
If tests are supposedly too technical for most to comphrend, translate, analyse or relate to something meaniful, then they are just as worthless in some regard. At the end of the day, you aren't going to buy something marvelously spec'd but sounds horrible to your ears... you just wouldn't, surely... For me, there is enough about the Baer cabs to be worth a demo...and then we would go from there...even though I don't need any more cabs. I like the design look and the spec sounds good...so the next step would be to hear them in my context. Subjective views are just as valid as the technical review, IMO.. they all build a pciture. but they don't make you buy them unheard or unseen.
+1 but I'm so far North I have NO chance of getting to hear these cabs!
because I sent him my email address after he PMd me. post you quoted came after that because I wanted to stay clear and up to date here about my selling thread,we never speak through PM after. anything else, chief inspector?
Not at the minute... but I'll get back to you if anything comes up.

Oddly enough I know someone who took a Warwick Streamer Stage I and had the P+J pup routes filled and then just fitted the P in the 'wrong way around' (i.e. as per Leo)... and this guy is a bit of a Warwick fan!
Yep. Leo Fender didn't know what he was doing. I'm away to throw my Precisions in the bucket. Goodness knows why anyone would want to play one.
Hussah, sense at last.

Warwick (...well Spector) get it the right way around.
no fire here.I don't want to explain further more. if that seems like right, then I'd love to see you (warwickhunt) in same situation. i.e.,you re selling the bass and I tell you I am buying it,just arrange personal courier to get it here, and when you complete that, I am showing and saying, ouch,I don=t actually like it now, I may pay it 3 times less, otherwise, get that bass back to England, thanx!
Take a pill mate. I've already pointed out that 'IF' what you say is true and he had a full set of images of the bass with everything disclosed, no hidden surprises and he turned up with a grand after you'd gone to that trouble then he is bang out of order. However, I don't know you, the situation OR a Vox bass from Adam so how can I or anyone else wholeheartedly castigate this other guy and pat you on the back? I'm 90% certain that as this other guy is a newbie on here then he may well have dropped you in the shyte but I'm not about to start a witchhunt based upon your view of the situation. However, had it been me I'd have done things differently.

Your reply looks perfectly acceptable and plausible to me; in fact it is exactly the kind of thing that I might have sent off if I were in a position where I was unsure about the future of my current band and was looking for something else and maybe wanted to know a bit more about this band before committing. I'd say that if their response is indicative of their general demeanor then you're better off well out of it.
