1.
thanks for the confirmation. I'll be honest, I was sitting wondering that,
Wonder no more!
2.
The last owner put adhesive stickers easily removable
It might be worth mentioning that in the first post as I think anyone buying it thinking that it had block inlays might be miffed!
3.
Oooh. Shack. Mmm. Love the blocks.
Are the blocks adhesive stickers or genuine inlays; I owned a Shack 4 string and remember looking at all of the models and can't recall it being available with blocks!
4. Just to confirm that the bass comes with the stock pup AND a brand new boxed Seymour Duncan 'Vintage' jobbie AND a brand new sealed pkt of D'Addario strings.
5.
Shhhh, be vewy vewy quiet! She Who Must Be Obeyed doesn't know yet.....
Sell me your Ltd and she won't mind what you buy!
6.
OOOOOH Mine is No 035. There was a guy on Talkbass from Finland (Mika) who had one as well. I also noticed the Ltd Ed has appeared on the Warwick website, but, it says the fingerboard is wenge, my certificate says it's ebony so it looks like even Warwick can't remember what they've made.....too many mushrooms in the '80s methinks
The fingerboards are ebony NOT wenge! Yes, Mika and I compared notes on our basses some years back and I don't think either of us had seen more than a couple of them over the many years we'd looked; in fact he'd been aware of my two 89 LE basses before I even registered on TB.
7.
Bought it in Sound Control in Glasgow. It was either this or a Spector that was for sale in The Guitar Store and the Warwick won on the day. The Bartolini was a bit too 'civilised' for my tastes
In fact the pic I was comparing with your bass was my 'first' one of these MM Ltd Ed 89 basses not the later one that I sold on BC. The bass that I had must have been consecutively numbered with yours as the markings of the birds eye maple look almost identical; on very close scrutiny they are different but not far off!
8. That looks like one of my old basses... Birds Eye Maple matches with my old pic of it. [s]However, I'm 99% certain that the pup isn't original; both because I remember the guy bought it off me talked of changing the pup and/or pre as it seemed to be lacking something, added to which the basses when released in '89 had the sealed Bartolini pup sans exposed pole pieces. Not that it matters a jot as they are fabulous basses! [/s] <edit> Ooops edited as I'd misread what you said... you've clearly actually said that it has a replacement pup!
9. Just out of interest, is it a fairly easy job to fit the two volumes on one stack and the tone control(s) on the other? I only ask as on occasion I need to fade the volumes (either at the end of a song or as a volume pedal style 'swell' effect) and I dislike basses with two volumes on separate pots (I'm used to a master volume and pan).
10. I 'think' the neck on your bass is Ovankol rather than Wenge (the fingerboard is defo Wenge), there have been various incarnations over the years and neck materials have changed, so I'm assuming you have cut and paste the info from a Warwick source but I'm 99% certain yours is Ovankol... not that it makes much difference!
11. Did you buy that Dolphin locally (I think that I may have owned it a few years ago)?
12. I had one of these, great guitars and recently sold it (bit of a clear out) and I got £250 for it pretty quickly when advertised on Gumtree/Adtrader... might be worth trying for a straight sale.
13.
Yeah I just changed them,oops!
No you haven't!
14.
Hi BassChatters, I've decided to trade my 1988 streamer 4-string because I think I need a 5-string bass. Trade only, no cash(unless it's way above my valuation ;-) This bass is worth 900GBP to me. Another Warwick is what I really want, but who knows...you may tempt me!" class="ipsImage" />" class="ipsImage" />" class="ipsImage" />" class="ipsImage" />Merry Christmas all. yours, Phil.
Your images aren't working mate!
15. IMHO the problem is likely down to the use of the word 'scratch', which means different things to different people, in different countries. I would say that the 'scratch' is IMHO, a 'crack' and no matter how small it will be, it will be a worry unless it is seen in the flesh by a potential buyer and then possibly professionally assessed. Simply saying this in order that the OP realises why some folks might be concerned... inc me!
16.
I was of the understanding that Markbass stole the thunder of Thunderfunk ( )with the LM11 by having a similar tone but lighter and cheaper. This, as I recall, was the feeling of those on TB at the time of the LM11's release. Personally. I feel I can get all the tones I need from my TTE 500. I've discovered that the colour knob is subtle when playing alone but "thickens" the tone drastically when in a band mix. At it's lowest setting you get quick SS type attack (but not sterile character).By turning this knob you can get just the right sound for the type of music you're playing.
I think any comparison between TF & MB over on TB will have between between a very small select group of bassists I'm not sure that the general populace of bassists would even have heard a TF in the flesh never mind having played one to make a comparison, so the stealing of thunder (sic) was probably just on that thread. However, being a TF owner and having also owned a couple of MB amps (inc' an LM) I'd not have said the tone was comparable... certainly not in a band/gig situation. You've hit the nail on the head with regards to the various 'other' tone controls on Dave Funk's amps, they probably do as much as any full range of tone controls on other amps.
17. Stick the strings on and see what happens, it may be stiff enough or be already set-up for strings of that tension.
18.
The website suggests it's made for valve jobbies, so I wonder if using something like a class D power amp would have any negative effects on the amp or the cab.
If you mean 'negative' as in damage to the amp or cab then no that isn't possible. However, if you mean negative as in tone, then that really depends on what sound you want out of it; "one man's meat..." and all that!
19. Shame you aren't moving to the NE (England) as I've just realised that one of my mates rang me the day after I sold mine and he was after one.
20. Flogged mine a month ago in similar nick and got x3 your asking price, so this is a bargain!
21. Shame about the weight, had it been a sub 9lb jobbie I'd have taken a punt even if to just use it on a couple of songs (who the hell plays 'Smoke on the water' in E ). At that kind of money for a piezo equipped bass it's cheap as the proverbial longitudinal sliced solanum tuberosum!
22.
I saw this...isn't £1k a bit steep?(though they are great basses)..
Not expensive at all for a Pro I bass.
23. Just bought the G50 version of this and they are indistinguishable from having a cable between you and the amp.
24. Only one question... how come I wasn't asked to cover this?
25. This was the 2nd Glockenklang amp that I have owned (the other being the slight lower powered BassArt) and they are stunning amps!
