Infinette - Very cool/rare, probably as distinctive a tone as the Dolphin but slightly different (possibly due to the Maple neck or the body chambers) Dolphin - Funky shape, distinctive tone and this one is a lovely weight/balance SSI - A classic (thanks Spector/NS) and IMHO one of the most versatile tones/pup configs SSII - As above but with a different slant on the tone that is a bit more focused than the SSI Streamer 5th Anniversary - Classic shape/comfort/balance (this one is barely 8lb iirc) but not quite as versatile as the two above... but likely the one I would go to first to gig Thumb - Love the tone and aesthetics but can't get away with the first position due to the short horn/body

Absolute minefield Matt! If folks can be bothered to respond you'll get quotes from £250-£600 £250 will be from those looking to buy it. £600 will be those who own one and want to make sure that their bass is perceived as being worth as much as possible. Whether it is passive/active, Bubinga/Ash, natural/stained etc. will all affect the price but ultimately the above will have more bearing. Do a quick search of the sales forum and if you can find a bass the same age and spec as yours you'll get an idea of value (that and ebay past sale prices).

Like Dood, I've owned Tech gear in the past and it is generally very good quality. Can't recall the Triple Cube off the top of my head but I've been around long enough to have read the original reviews when these were released so if you throw up a pic I'll see if it jogs my memory and I may be able to find a 'Bassist' review of the combo. ...saying that; the fact that you are asking about wattages has me now thinking that you don't have the combo to hand and may be thinking of buying blind!

Can someone clarify for me (name and shame) who these 'oldies' are? I'm old, I've also been on this forum since the start and I'm fairly active on BC, yet I've not come across these belligerent 'oldies' that several posters have alluded to... so who are they?

The sales fee is just a 'given' and IMHO not worth discussion or debate... period. The matter of complaints, grief, shyte flying about (not that I have encountered it) is likely as not simply related to the number of members now registered. Where in the early days there weren't so many of us, you'd statistically have had few instances for grief but as numbers have grown, it would seem obvious that the quantity of incidents will increase. With more people communicating with 'more people' you've got a greater potential for friction and a greater variety of reasons to get fractious. No idea how you resolve it mind!

The sender can mark it as a gift but I have a vague recollection (used to buy from the States frequently) that this doesn't make it exempt because that loophole was being abused by all and sundry. I do know that if the value is declared nil or virtually nil and the item goes missing you'd get nothing back i.e. don't try it with basses!

Yes seen that 2nd one a few times, such a shame that the jack socket was butchered! If I was buying a vintage Warwick and paying over the going rate, I'd want it to be pretty original (refret doesn't bother me, nor would dirt or 'some' dings) and any non-reversible mods would be a big negative... shame!

The nut adjustment is simply a case of removing the strings from the slots and using a suitable screwdriver; screw in/out the individual saddle/grub screws. As to how much this needs to be done is simply trial and error based upon your preference and playing style. I tend to screw them in until the string is just about touching the first fret and then simply unscrew it a 180 degree turn until it sits where it feels good and suits your playing style/tecnique. The bridge seems complicated but basically unlock the little locking grub screws that hold the individual saddles in place then adjust those to each other and to match the fingerboard radius; again for me it is a case of getting the E and G strings so that the height adjustment has them just pushing off the 'bed' then the A and D need to be a little higher BUT ensure that you have your intonation adjustment in the ball park (which is the G string being the most extended and then tapering back to the E string being the longest... I realise that is simply a generic setting but it means less adjustments later). When you have a basic camber/height/intonation setting you can use the overall height adjustment of the bridge (two centre hex bolts lock the assembly so slacken those right off until finished). Adjust the 4 long recessed grub screws to set an overall height, which is likely going to need a bit more height on the bass side than the treble. When you have that done lock the bridge down with the centre bolts... Oh and have you remembered to lock the individual string saddles? LOL sounds complex but isn't and makes for very adaptable set-ups.

I've messaged that guy about 3 times (it's been relisted that many times) asking questions about the bass (replaced TR cover, why no battery, is the TR OK etc.) and nothing back despite me also translating the messages into German!

Yep, I have a right angled jack and it is worse than useless. Not only does it not mute (sleeve sticking) but on one bass the sleeve manages to partially eject or stops the jack plug fitting the socket securely.
