Phew and there was me thinking of selling one of my Sterlings... think I'll hang fire for a year or two!

Having made that clear and seeing as you are asking for advice on whether 'others' think that a Barefaced cab will best suit your needs; then I personally don't think that it will. That is based upon the fact that you think that the GB cab that you have lacks 'punch' (a term which I'm sure AC, BFM and many others will say is nonsensical and meaningless) and that you play in a rock/blues band. I've played through several of Alex's cabs and it NEVER ceases to amaze me how light they are and I love them for that, however that is NOT one of your considerations, it is purely the sound of the cab and it's ability to sound full and punchy in a rock/blues setting and I have yet to get the sound that 'I' want out of one of the BF cabs as I always feet that they have plenty of bottom (and top) but lack any punch/heft/weight to the tone. Patently they are not going to suit every person and I am NOT putting Alex's cabs down, they just don't suit me... same as an Ashdown 4x10 sounds pants to my ears! One thing that I do find strange is that you've had a cab on order for 6 weeks and THEN you ask for people's opinions!

[/quote] I've followed this thread and I have to say as a totally impartial bystander that I certainly don't interpret Alex's attitude in any of this to be 'offensive'! You may well not like Alex's cabs or Alex for all I know but IMHO Alex has stepped forward and taken his time to explain the science behind his views and opinions.

I give mine a fresh battery every Christmas, then I know it is done for the next year!

As above but the battery draw on a Warwick runs into thousands of hours, so 24 hrs isn't a big deal. I certainly don't bother unplugging the lead between sets at a gig but I'd not be leaving it plugged in all day every day at home.

It may seem harsh but with an unknown fault it could render the value as basically a bit less than the cost of the cab section by itself! However, the fix in itself could be a relatively simple job (I remember getting some advice on repeatedly inserting a jack in and out of the effects loop or headphone socket and it fixed a similar problem, saved me virtually binning a good amp as I had no funds to fix) and it would be criminal to sell your amp at virtual scrap value! It genuinely might be worth biting the bullet to get it repaired. If you were local to me and desperate to get rid of it then I'd be offering as little as possible and keeping fingers crossed it was a simple fix BUT aware that I might be simply buying a speaker cab!

It looks a bit... 'slab' and the headstock shape looks a bit different to my recollections of Overwater headstocks (I thought they were quite small and that looks larger)! However, the bridge and general appearance look fine; is there a cheapie NT Overwater range?

Played and owned plenty Warwicks... just not that one!

[/quote] It would scare you witless to look at the cost of a new one then try to find a 'good' used price. Where most new items depreciate by 20-30% when you walk out of the shop (have delivered via an e-purchase), alas Warwick basses depreciate by a minimum of 50% and that isn't meant to do Warwick down, it is just a fact... and an unnecessary one at that! The info above is about on the money; I've sat watching ebay sales of NT Thumb basses end in the £600-£900 bracket with a few managing the £900-£1200 but rarely do they exceed those 'sale' prices (many are advertised for more but rarely sell).

They are made by John Bolin (same guy that custom makes for The Stones, ZZ Top etc) and designed by Ned Steinberger (he of Spector/Streamer fame... among many others). Bolin only made these 'production' basses for a short time, if you want one now they are a custom order. Lovely balance and weight, which make for a lovely player.

Yet another trouble free transaction with Clarky... expect nothing less than the best.
