1.
The only singlecuts i really like are Les Pauls, but LP basses just look wierd as the body is always too small.
Not all LP style basses look weird... at least not to my eyes!
 2. I've jammed Blues (pick a key + tempo and feel, then start playing), original material (if someone has a riff/lick/idea build around that) and covers (everyone knows the song structure and hopefully the words so just start playing after the count and see where it goes) and tbh my definition of 'jamming' is that not everyone present has learned what they were supposed to learn for said get-together!
 3.
From Fender Japan Serial number Approximate year of manufacture Crafted in Japan Q0 + 5-digit number 2002-2004
However my CIJ 'Flower Power' P bass 54 reissue was defo made between 2002 - 2004 as above BUT has a Q +6 digit number!
 4.
Pm sent
...and back.
 5. Nice but why have one of those when you can have one of these... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/170122-ft-parker-fly-usa-quilted-maple-59-burst-graphite-neck-piezo-and-jazz/page__hl__parker%20fly
 6.
I have said it before but I really don't think 2 1x12s are as good as 1 2x12, more versatile but something changes when they are not in one box. Try a Genz Neox 2x12T with any of the heads you are interested in and see what you think for yourself although that won't really be a gig volume. Mark is doing good deals on full Genz rigs if you go for a 2x12T too, good choice of Genz heads that will all sound awesome
I've owned a DB212 and own a pair of DB112 and I have to say that I found the benefit of stacking the 112s vertically on their edge meant that they were sonically superior to the 212 by a long chalk (drivers lifted closer to head height and vertically aligned directly above each other as opposed to 45 degrees off-set in the 2x12). Even when the 1x12s were stacked in the standard config I have to confess that I could hear no major (if any) discernible difference, especially as you had to uncouple the amp and swap them over by which time I'm not sure you could remember if there was any audible difference and as has been noted the modular x2 112 means that they are more versatile.
 7.
Its always bad to hear when gear gets stolen but who in there right mind leaves gear in an unattended marquee?!
I live about a mile from this event (wasn't there on the day... honest!) and I'm fairly confident that what I know of the layout of the event it wouldn't have been an unattended marquee. The sickening thing is that this could 'potentially' be other musicians (though one would think it'd be some opportunistic scumbags) who have stolen this gear; I'd imagine if it is, they are going to find it hard to get gigs... and not only because of broken fingers! Hope the gear is found and returned asap.
 8.
Eventually tempted Col to buy a bass from me! Straightforward bank transfer payment and he booked a courier, stress free, the way that it should be on BC. Now... about that parker Fly!
Rather than buy my Parker Fly Col tricked me into selling him a Streamer Ltd Ed! Pleasure again to deal with and when he has gotten over his recent Warwick obsession I shall sell him my Parker Fly bass!
 9.
Oi! Bit cheeky given you have just sold me a bass n'all
To have sold a bass to Clarky is something most 'lifers' on BC can claim, so I'm not unique in that respect.
 10.
A great dealer. Many thanks
Ouch! I'm reaching 'dealer' status... I thought that was reserved for the likes of Clarky et al!
 11. I'm another advocate for quality individual tools. I have a small set of Snap-on allen keys (from Truss rod down to bridge saddles), assorted quality drivers (you'll need a larger diameter for adjusting the intonation screw) and wire snips for strings. I also have a larger toolkit for more than a bit of fettling.
 12. It's been said before on the other thread but I'll say it again; you'd be stunned at how good this bass really is for the money... no in fact, regardless of the money!
 13. This guy is about 10 miles from me and seems to have a whole heap of vintage basses for sale!
 14.
If your ever shifting the 5th Anniversary Streamer do let me know. I've got the 200 grit paper waiting for the 89. Can't wait to see her. That's an incredible collection John. The Dolphin looks amazing!!
Cheers Col. The 5th Anniversary will likely stay with me for some time and the fourm moderator over @ Warwick has first refusal on it if I do decide to sell. The Dolphin is a bit special and I can't believe that I sat and looked at it for weeks before deciding to go for it. The '89 will clean up lovely and will be a keeper I'm sure.
 15. Quantity over quality! Actually... no... hang on; I didn't mean that I had sh*t basses!
 16.
Would you consider a trade on the 'burst?
Was just going to ask the same thing!
 17. Pics as of today... though the Warwick Ltd Ed (far right first pic) and the Marcus Miller are sold and on the way out Monday! The Warwicks Sadowsky + Fender types Sterlings and Bolins ...the rest
 18.
Still no prices???
He's not logged back in yet since posting the thread.
 19.
... If you can get at the mag wiring try jumping the preamp and going direct to the output jack. If that works it's definitely the pre.
I'm contemplating that!
 20. The fact that the bass is also equipped with a magnetic pup mounted on the body surface and the output from that is equally pathetic, makes me think that the preamp or some part of the wiring is goosed! I'm looking at possible solutions before I need to have money spent giving it to a shop.
 21. Looking at the recent Millers on here it may be underpriced!
 22. Just tried it with the preamp... still not good! I had to crank the preamp input/output to try and get a level for the amp, which was still limited due to the increases in gain inducing noise into the chain.
 23.
Not tried a piezo\mag combo through my rig but certainly anything with a piezo pickup comes out quiet and 'weedy'. I fixed the problem by buying a little Fishman external preamp and using that.
The Washburn has an on-board buffer so that shouldn't be the case... I have a BBE Acoustimax preamp I could put it through but it shouldn't require it!
 24. Anyone had issues with this problem either on this particular make of bass or a similarly equipped piezo/magnetic equipped bass. The output whether panned to piezo or electric is miserably low (battery replaced) to the point where I need to absolutely crank the input to get anything and at that point noise is a problem.
