1. Strange that it didn't sell with a reserve @ £2000+ yet it now has no reserve and less details in the listing.
2. The TOTAL lack of info makes me think that it is a wrong un in some way (if not every way)!
3. Not ANOTHER feckin Geordie! Welcome Adam, stick around it can be good craic on here and if you need advice it's always worth asking on BC first... Oh unless it's about wimmin, as we are all useless in that respect (hence we frequent a forum with other bassists)! I'm significantly younger than Big Al (3mths) and we may well know your Dad, so don't feel embarrassed, name names or bands!
4. 8 string Streamer (late 80's) formerly belonging to KRAAN bassist Hellmut Hattler, with a hand-painted/sprayed finish (signed by the artist). Typical Warwick woods and construction with a pair of MEC P pups. It was a great sounding bass and not too different to play from a 4 string but the 8 string sound doesn't suit every band/song! I sold it on ebay some years back and had masses of interest from the USA and Europe but it ended up selling in the UK.
5. Having just looked back through this whole thread (sad I know but several recent postings have had me craving for Warwick p*rn ), I realised that I said back on page 1 or 2 that I'd post up pics of some of my past Warwicks... and I didn't! So here goes (there me be some overlap/duplication as time went by). Just realised that the basses/walls/houses may have changed over the years but that sofa has remained true!
6. PJ equipped Warwick Streamer Stage I It may not be fashionable or even as liked by many but for covering 'many' bases, it does the job!
7.
Guitar Info Your Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan in the Year(s): 1984 - 1987 May not be accurate but without a JV serial No. I don't think it can be a 'JV'. Bargain or not - only the buyer will know! It'll cost about £450 to find out after import costs
Is that an E or K at the start of the serial number?
8.
Do all the JV's have "Fender" in big font then a smaller "Squier"? Curious.
No, only the very first JVs had the large Fender/small Squier logo (other than the non-export Fender/Squier from that period); JV's 'generally' have the small Fender logo. <edit> Oh and out of principle I wouldn't buy a Squier from someone who couldn't spell it correctly in their title.
9. ...when it is a 1990 Jap Squier! Well the serial number dates it to then any way. If you add on shipping and 20-25% in tax/duty then it isn't such a bargain.
10.
I just got an e-mail from the Hamer forum mods who advise that, 'Hamer brand guitars will no longer be produced after the current round of custom ordes are complete.' I find this a sad day. Hamer may not be to everyone's taste, but they certainly resurrected a handful of dead in the water Gibson designs and introduced some new poop into the market. I'll miss them. P
Shame as they made some cracking guitars and basses. I'll still own a Hamer 12 one day but it maybe just got a bit harder to find one!
11. There's also a readily available x2 500w version... not sure about the artwork!
12.
You what? Fookin ell !!!!!!! Mark Chapman could take lessons from you.
Yep, 'Hi-Tec' hacking!
13. What would distinguish this from other (non-MK) Superfly heads?
14. I said it in Blenji's thread and I'll say it again... this is a superb bit of kit for not a lot of money!
15. What sort of prices are used BadAss bridges going for?
16. Ah, I see that they have different user ID's and they are in different locations, which would indicate a couple of hacked accounts. Could also be someone using a copy of the image? Looking at the use ID's I'd bet that the plonkers who have been hacked (if that is the case) will have used their username as their password; I say that because I had reservations a couple of years ago about someone selling dodgy bass gear on ebay and the username appeared a bit random. For an experiment I attempted to log in using their username and the same for the password... straight into their account, which I assume the hacker had done. Some folks can be dim!
17. He's demanding that bidders contact him 'prior' to placing a bid (which isn't allowed under ebay T&C) in order to try and flog that system or possibly multiple identical systems; thus avoiding ebay fees. I've reported him for such but I doubt that they'll do anything... think I'll now place a bid without contacting him first!
18. I've gigged in the NE for a good few years and from choice I play 4 string even though I have had to detune the E string to D on many occasions and a 5 string would have helped. I've encountered plenty bassists playing 5's (6's and even the Chapman Stick), some of whom I've had to dep for and it has been a struggle to convince some bands that for 95% of their set I can easily do everything their existing bassist has played but on a 4 string. In fact I've just taken over in a band who's former bassist used 5's exclusively and I do get the feeling that they'd like me to play a 5... tough! I think the OP has been unlucky in some of his encounters BUT I will concede that there is a core of bands/musicians that still view anything other than a Fender 4 string (Jazz or Precision acceptable) as too flash/unnecessary... says the man who has turned up to auditions/rehearsals with strange Warwicks and Bolins (goodness knows what they will make of my Dingwall)!
19. http://www.qscaudio.com/products/amps/plx/plx.htm 300w/500w/800w per side stereo @ 8/4/2 ohms (can be bridged to 1600w). IIRC the weight is 9.5kg. Price - £250 inc' the flightcase.
20.
Aha! So you are "Johnny the Dep"?!?!
That'll be me! I was registered over there as WH but I de-registered a couple of years back because of some of the idiots that were posting... re-registered as JtD when thinks looked a bit less 'troubled'!
21. As you say, nut width is 'generally' a specific measurement which can be found with a bit of research; however, some manufacturers change widths over time and yes that is on the exact same model. If you are generally used to a certain width and your playing style suits a particular dimension then it might be worth checking, particularly if you know that a model has varying widths depending upon age/vintage. TBH I have no problem swapping between skinny and broad necks and even the neck profile (shallow/deep) doesn't bother me. The matter of weight is altogether different. Manufacturers quote a figure for 'approximate' weight but this can vary massively. Personal experience with 40+ Warwick NT basses where I have had Streamer Stage I basses varying from 7lb 9oz (one of my present basses) to a 10lb 12oz monster, that's 3lb 3oz difference... not great fun if like me you have a recurring shoulder injury that leaves me in pain if I play a bass that is much more than 9lb (a recurring theme, judging by previous post)! I have also owned 3 Lakland JO basses and they varied between 9lb 1oz and 11lb 13oz, again that can be a big issue with anyone suffering from shoulder/back problems. Oh and I know that you can buy special 'X' straps etc as well as some basses that weigh virtually nothing but when you want the tone/feel/look of a certain bass then it pays to ask for an 'accurate' weight rather than the manufacturers guesstimate.
22.
Depends how light "light" is. A QSC PLX is 9KG ish, Crown XLS's are half that, as are Peavey IPRs. Personally I would never use an PA amp of any decent power as a bass amp without a subsonic filter into any speaker I cared about (which would rule out the Crown & Peavey for me ...).
I've got a QSC PLX amp available if the OP is still looking for one... and it has the sub-filters! I was hoping to sell it with the Helborg but the Christmas season has wiped out everyone's funds.
23. Yet another positive for Peter! A pleasure to deal with (again) and as always Peter is good to his word and as accommodating as they come.
24. Peter's a top fella (I should know as I've traded/bought from Peter on several occasions inc' the Yamaha TRBp referred to in the #1 post), so buy in confidence!
25. The Energy - Does one of the outputs allow for mixed output of the P + J pups or is it a case of each set of pups has a separate output?
