The only think to ensure you get right is not going lower than your amps minimum load (i.e. don't go less than 4ohms on 'most' cabs)... and there is a bit of lee-way with that but you don't even want to go there so far better to stick to rigid rules!
Thanks Liam. So if an amp of 500w RMS actually gives around 300w @ 4ohms, would it give 150W @ 8ohms ? or am I barking up the wrong tree again ?
500w RMS amp will generally be @ 4ohms (very few amps go down to 2 ohms, many Peavey amps being the exception), so 250 - 350w @ 8ohms (no absolute rule/formulae for % of the 4 to 8 ohm equation) and possibly down to 150 - 250 @ 16 ohms (though 16 ohm cabs are pretty rare now).

I have the original packaging/box with the case so I suppose it isn't a problem. Not sure if the size will be an issue (when in the original packaging it is reasonably large). So far I have interest in the lights and the desk, so if those that showed interest in the cabs stepped up with a reasonable offer for the various bits, then this is feasible to split! I'll update soon.

Not a bad price for a 2x10 Trace combo and it's the earlier version with the valve pre and the 5" mid/high driver. You'd pay £150 for one of these cabs so you're getting the amp for £100... bargain! Boschma Cases, Best Customer Service experience I have ever had
warwickhunt replied to a topic in Accessories and Misc
Anyone any idea what sort of price for a 3U case? -
No, that's fair does with ending the auction before any bids, I've no problem with that. If you fancy the Hamer and a few hundred quid to see you till you find a good 5er just give me a shout. I'm only really interested in your DJ as it is around 8lb in weight; I can bag a DJ from a guy local to me tomorrow for £600 but his isn't light enough for my needs.
-
Hi WC. I'm the guy who would have bid on your bass! In fact I was the ebayer who contacted you with the offer of a Hamer 5 string (I appreciate you are after something more up market than the Hamer).
-
TBH I'll offer him £600 and it'll be the equivalent of a bid of £660 on ebay by the time he's taken off the ebay and paypal fees!
Not like you WH
Nothing personal but I have always had a strong stance that ebay listings that aren't BIN are better left unpublicised otherwise those that have spotted the tasty item or better still a bargain, then have to contend with 'potentially' bidding against others who may not have bothered their backsides to look for it. Buy It Now listings of bargains or unusual items are absolutely a different matter and I regularly flag them up but each to his own. It could still be that when I bid on that DJ I am the only interested BCer but by the same token I am now potentially bidding against anyone else who reads this thread. I concede it is giving others the chance to bid on this bass but IMHO if they wouldn't have looked for it in the first place then why should someone else help them and in the process potentially bump up the price that I will pay.
-
Well that's just made at least a few more bassists aware of it... if anyone else was sitting hoping to bag it as a bargain, this thread may well blow the chance of that.
Pics are up. I know I paid about about £1200 for it when I bought it new, but todays price well..... I dunno a brand new AB10 on ebay is like £300, I know it isnt worth that much as it is 15 yo and used. So say about £120 plus postage?
I'll take it.

At the time (late 80's) you could potentially get any of the Warwick line with just about any combination of pup manufacturer. EMGs were pretty standard fitment for the period but SD, Bartolini and even Alembic pups were used in Warwick basses of this period (NOT the JD I hasten to add). The 2 JD's that I have owned both had EMGs but I'd not have been taken aback to see SDs in a JD (though I've not personally ever seen a JD bass in the flesh/pic with SD pups in).

Solo single from Rattlin Bone front-man featuring Will Lee on bass!
warwickhunt replied to Clarky's topic in Recording
So - let's get this right: You left the band, and he replaced you with Will Lee? That's quite a compliment.
That compliment was once paid to me when I was replaced in a band by another fantastic bass player... it was WoT! -

Anyone tried a 5string and not like them? And why?
warwickhunt replied to Marvin's topic in General Discussion
I'll subscribe to this to ensure that I never buy a 5 string bass ever again! You get 5 extra notes on a 5 string; 2 of which are very easily accessible by simply dropping the E down to D on a 4 string. I've now tried (at gig/band volume for more than just a song or two) x4 5 string basses and I've yet to find one that sounds as good as a decent 4 string when playing down to low D. I will now sell the 5 tht I have and continue to detune my four strings down to D for the odd song (who needs the notes below that as they are muffled mush any way). -
I've got all sorts of none-Warwick sh*t sitting around the house! The Ric is in fact a 70's thru-neck copy (stereo outputs, shark-fin inlays, binding etc.) and the fact that someone has hand printed Ric********r on the TRC makes for a very convincing 'tribute' to the real thing. However, some things are destined to stay with me and others will simply be having a holiday with me... and anything with Fender on the top is likely in the latter camp (even though I fancy a Roadworn)! Of course if you buy a Wal with the money that I give you for a Squier or Streamer then I could have another different bass in the house.

I remember OBBM doing the mods and remember it being the kind of thing that I'd do; funnily enough likewise a BG... modded with a J pup. However, the neck thing doesn't bother me one way or the other. Unfortunately I don't have a P bass derivation to trade (a Jazz but the neck will likely be as slim as the DD).
