1. This bass is destined to haunt me! Just as I'm considering selling a couple of basses, along comes my old Zon which I'd have back in a jiffy!
2. It never ceases to amaze me how cheap these Sterlings go for! They are a stonking bass and if I didn't already own two I'd have a punt on this one... in fact if this is an uber-light one then I might take this as well.
3. I've owned a few old Warwicks and I've never had a JAN that rattled or buzzed!
4.
What is the weight and is it well balanced on a strap?
I've had one of these USA basses and they are a featherweight and the balance is perfect... no association with the seller!
5. Bought a quality speaker cable off Martin; great comms and promptly delivered, top fella.
6. Well I'm signed up and waiting for pics... you'll need a price as well mate.
7. I just powered up my Thunderfunk and one of my Aguilar 12's in prep for a gig tonight (recent change of band so this is my first gig for a month or more) and I have the dreaded 'speaker distortion/crackling'! First thought was a blown tweeter; turned it off but still apparent. I quickly swapped the TF for my spare amp and it was still there, so not my TF going funny, it must be the cab/driver. Grabbed the other 1x12 and swapped the lead out of the back of the other DB12... distortion still apparent! The chances of either both my amps and/or both my speakers generating the distortion are pretty damn slim so that only leaves one culprit... the Speakon speaker lead that I'd been using to test the amps/cabs! I dug out another couple of speaker leads and hey presto no distortion and one very relieved bunny. Amazing how easy it is to think worst case scenario and assume it is going to be a replacement speaker or amp repair. The scary thing is that I have literally just bought a one of OBBM's speaker leads off another BCer (to upgrade my 'lesser' lead that has just failed) and it should be here Mon/Tues.

9. I'd have thought possibly late 90's at the very earliest but a lot more likely 00's. There isn't much to distinguish between years after the late 90's but truss rod covers and nut type is generally a give away... and this has an original JAN, which I'd not have expected at all with that later style truss rod cover. I'd say one or the other has been replaced (possibly both) and I'd put money on the nut being a replacement due to the tendency for the later nuts to snap on the end clips. I do have to love the lack of detail about the bass in the listing text; one line out of ten says anything about the bass and even then it is just to tell you it is a SSI with one or two little dings... not a hard sell as such!
10. The serial number is D 1303 not D 130! It is however one of those nice enigmatic 'transition' basses that retains the early sculpted headstock and tuning post grommets but with the later 2 piece bridge.
11.
Have you just sold it Jon?
No but I'm sure I recognise it!
12. You've literally just bought this bass... yes?
13.
very nice instrument good luck with the sale
FOUR years after he had it up for sale... he may well be sorted!
14. Excellent! I've been after either one of these (possibly not the full blown German model) or more likely the SC version, for a while... inspired to look harder now!
15.
Regarding the comment about the Wal increasing in value, I would disagree, a wal bought in 1986 for £800, now worth £2500, in real terms is still a loss, I mean £800 in 1986 is alot more than £2500 is today.
How so? After approx 25 years with inflation at about 3% your £800 would be about £1600-£1700... it'd be interesting to calculate what a new Fender Jazz should cost today compared to in 86 (using the 3% inflation) against what say a Warwick cost back then!
16. Nice one Dave.
17. Excellent amps (and pretty good cabs... especially for the money), that go on forever and 'probably' only let down by their aesthetics; if they were a lush looking piece of kit people probably wouldn't be so disparaging about them.
18. I really don't NEED another amp but I seriously had to sit on my hands during those last few seconds (I had even input a bid price at one point but came to my senses and deleted it)!
19. I bought this recently as I have a huge amount of love for Glock amps and I had visions of this replacing my Thunderfunk (inspired by the fact that my last Glock was fabulous but at 300w just didn't 'quite' cut the mustard in a loud band not using PA support); I will stress that this appears significantly louder @ 400w than my old Bass Art amp did @ 300w. However, in A/B comparisons I just can't make that move away from the TF, not that there is a lot in it but the TF just edges it due to the fact that the Glock is just a bit too sweet and slick! Plenty of info available on-line about these and they are/were stupendously expensive due to the quality of build (and it shows in the tone). It has 2 effects loops, 3 mid EQ as well as bass and treble, seperate active/passive inputs, tuner out (muted from the front). It is passive cooling (no noisy fans) but as such it does get warm so I'd not stick it in a tiny cramped case (the amp is 3U so 4U at a minimum though I do have a 6U case available for sale cheap if required). A few scratches/marks to the case but nothing too bad (pics to follow if needed). I'll also include an XLR to Speakon lead as XLR outputs aren't that common (but far better than 1/4 connections) as output connections, you can make leads up easily enough and I'll supply an extra XLR for someone if they want to knock up a spare lead. £400 but will entertain trades for a Line 6 G50 or early Warwick Streamer bass (80's) which I'll add a wedge of cash to.
20. Ouch that ebay price must have hurt!
21.
great dolphin vid, but i thought Money was played at a lower position than that (in B?) - fab tone though, I think I've found the bass to save my pennies for
It is played in B... and I did!
22. Have you tried on the local 'Big Ginger Gits Gig Pit'?
